May. 23, 2007 - ~* When Life is on Hold *~
When you find yourself in the waiting room of life
When you find the pause button is pushed indefinitely
When suddenly, secure patterns of life become erratic
the heart beats more quickly, You begin holding your breath,
And find yourself tiptoeing through the days.
Emotions defy control and beat down walls of resistance
And then, they are emptied.
The real is surreal, security is no more
Confusion and angst become constant companions.
And then, you remember...
You take your eyes off the storm driven waves
You look into the kind, gentle, loving eyes of your Father
And you remember...
There's only One place of security and safety,
In His arms.
And then you find rest and peace once more.

May. 13, 2007 - ~* Mother's Day 1981 *~
On Mother's Day of 1981, I was celebrating my first Mother's Day. Although I was entering the third trimester of being pregnant with our first, we celebrated as if the new little one had already arrived. And in a way, he had. A deep love developed for this little one as soon as I knew he was growing inside. My husband and I enjoyed watching him grow and feeling him kick. I had a little booklet that showed the growth stages of the unborn baby and we eagerly looked at the pictures to see just how he looked at each new stage. We talked to him and dreamed for him. I put on weight with him, had swelling ankles with him, and a horrible labor with him. But, oh! How we loved him and were so delighted with him! He was the only baby in the world who was so fun, cute, adorable...Really! And when he was a toddler, no child in the world was so smart. The days passed so quickly, a brother, a sister, and another brother rounded out the crew. And before we knew it, he was marrying his sweetheart. Today, he and his wife brought over a beautiful potted plant and spent time with us. And I am always shocked by two things:
1) how quickly time has flown
and
2) how, HOW, did this tall man with broadened shoulders ever come from two tiny little seeds joined together, growing inside of me.
Ahhh...the miracle of life is always entertwined with the celebration of Mother's Day!
And ultimately, celebrating Mother's Day means thanking the Giver of life!
Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of being a mother to four beautiful young adults!
And to all you mother's....Happy Mother's Day!! You are blessed!

May. 9, 2007 - ~* Blessings this Week *~
I am a person who: asks for the bad news first, so she has something good to look forward to; prepares herself for the worst case scenario, so that things can only get better; is afraid of getting too happy because then something bad might happen. Now, for a superstitious person, those things are probably understandable, but for a person who believes in God's love, and believes that "this is the day that the Lord has made", that's not really a God-honoring way to live.
I have no desire to bore you with the details of all that's been happening in our lives the past few years, but suffice it to say, the "realistic" (honesty calls them pessimistic) tendencies have gotten worse.
Lately, the Lord has really been dealing with me about focusing on the blessings, rather than worrying about the very real worst case possibilities.
And so, I don't know whether I'll make this a "Weekly Wednesday"...but, for today at least, here are the things I'm thankful to have enjoyed this past week:
1)Time spent walking, talking, dating, loving my honey.
2) Time spent laughing, teasing, spending time with our sons
3) Walking, laughing, and sharing w/my walking buddy
4) Menu Plan Monday ( I really enjoy participating in that!)
5) Time Travel Tuesday (ditto above!)
6) interaction with the weight-loss and homemaking groups I belong to
7) Going to Borders and Barnes & Noble
8) Enjoying a Starbucks mocha light frapp
9) sitting on our back patio and enjoying God's beautiful creation while having my devotions
and enjoying HIM!
10) Reading good books
11) Reading good blogs
12) Finishing my crocheted baby blanket
13) Having the cardiologist act like he wasn't overly concerned w/my honey's CT scan
14) Finding out my sister's Dr spotted a heart problem, sent her to a cardiologist who
immediately did angioplasty and put a stint in what was a fully blocked valve...and
she's already home and pretty much back to normal!! Is God awesome or what?!
15) Celebrating with a friend her new job with a great increase in pay
16) Playing with our 3 week old kitties
17) browsing cookbooks/cooking magazines
18) Thankful for the health of each member of our family
19) Reconnecting w/some blogging buddies through the tag game (Connie of Wardssward, Cellomom)
20) Hearing some good reports regarding recent prayer requests
I'm sure there are even more (like food on our table, gas in our cars, my honey's job...), but these remind me how blessed I really am!
What would your week's thankful list include? If you decide to make one, please let me know, so I can stop by and read your post.

Apr. 20, 2007 - ~* It's Not Too Late! *~
First, an apology: I have literally been running my fool head off this week, with our son's practices, performances, and some other "incidentals" (HA!). At any rate, I apologize for not making another post with a link for the donations for Heather.
THANKFULLY, BooMama has graciously extended the donation time-frame. So if you havent' already, please drop over at BooMama's and click on the link to make your donation. ANY amount helps make a difference. God looks at the heart, not the amount!!
Thank you for blessing a fellow-mom who's facing some very difficult times.
