Sep. 19, 2007 - Great Dinner Recipe.
I had to post this because I made it for the second time and the whole family acted like I was an amazing cook. Even my ds4, who normally won't touch meat, loves this recipe. I used my grass-fed, local ground beef for it so I feel less guilty about feeding my family red meat.
Of course, beef is "what's for dinner" Ha!
Meat Loaves with Spaghetti Sauce
from Southern Living
- 1 1/2 C spaghetti sauce, divided (I get these in 1# bags so I use 2# for this recipe and increase other ingredients by a smidge.)
- 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 C italian seasoned bread crumbs (I use my leftover bread and add garlic/ital. spices)
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 t salt
- 1/4 t pepper
- 1T brown sugar
- 1 1/2 T white vinegar
- 1 T prepared mustard
- 2 t worcestshire sauce
Stir together 1/2 C spaghetti sauce, ground beef, breadcrumbs, and next 4 ingred. just until combined. Shape mixture into 2 8" loaves and place in a lightly greased 9X13 baking dish.
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
Stir together remaining spaghetti sauce, brown sugar and next 3 ingred. Pour sauce evenly over meat loaves and bake 25 min. more or til no longer pink in center. Let stand 10 min. before serving.
Enjoy. Because I use a little more of everything it does usually take a little longer than the 50 minutes total.
Bon appetit!!
