My homeschooling expedition

Jan. 24, 2008 - SOULTALK by Larry Crabbs

For my bookclub this past week we read this book by Larry Crabbs. It is the first one that I have read by him.

He had a couple of great ideas in it:

  • keeping first things first--and not letting the second things (family and home worries) to become like first things.  Keeping our relationship and worship of God --first
  • looking for the right moments to have true soul conversation with a friend by thinking about what they are saying and allowing the Holy Spirit to move in you in your response to their story
On the other hand, he repeats himself a lot and it got a little redundant.  One of my girl friends thought that it was designed as a bible study so he felt he had to review a lot in case it had been a week since you had read the prior chapter. I don't know but it makes for a fast read when you skim the repeats.

Overall, it is about a 3 out of 5 for reads.  I don't know that I would buy it but if you could get it from a library it might be worth the read.  Next month we are reading Captivating.

I always appreciate book reviews.
I read a Larry Crab book a long time ago, don't even remember the title.

I look forward to reading your review on Captivating.

Keep praying for Huckabee!
Blessings,
Linda

Thanks for the reminder to put the Lord first, it is so true. It's also nice to get a heads up about a book, so thanks for sharing. All is well enough in our household, I hope yours is good as well.
