The Here And After

Feb. 24, 2006

EVERY...

Here is a little exercise that is simple and yet can really help change you, the tone of your home, and the hearts of your children. Take a few minutes and try it...customize it for your own family which will take some real scrutiny of your own life.

On a piece of paper write the word  E V E R Y  in big letters. Using this word, make some nonnegotiable, priority commitments for you and your family.

 Examples:

EVERY morning I will pray for the gift of joy.

EVERY day I will pray indiviually with each of my children.

EVERY week I will take one hour and just sit outside and watch my children play (weather permitting of course).

EVERY month, at least once that month, we will load up the kids and go on a picnic or a nature walk or to a small town and window shop...something to get us away from the pressures of computer, telephone, and house/school/Daddy's work.

Spend some time in prayer and then please give this a try. Pray that this will give you and your family special teachable and memory making moments.

"If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work."

2 Timothy 2:21

What a wonderful exercise! I'm going to give that one a try. Thank you for sharing.

I'm glad to have found your blog. My mom is in the same situation as you. My younger brother started college at Patrick Henry this year after being hsed his whole life. A very different season I'm sure!

I would love to add you to my friends list so I can come back and visit again!

Blessings,

About Me

I am a mother of two that has spent the last twenty years homeschooling my children from kindergarten through graduation. They are living at home but have started college which has changed my life in a big way. In the here, I was doing what God called me to and it was also my passion. In the after, what is ahead for me. I have alot of questions but, as for right now, not many answers. I hope I can be used to give encouragement and some of my knowledge from my life's journey to other homeschoolers. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. John 15:16 Then I said, "Here I am--It is written about me in the scroll--I have come to do you will, O God." Hebrews 10:7
