Well, first of all I want to say THANKS for stopping by my page. Grab a cup of coffee, tea or another tasty beverage and visit for a while.
Second of all I must say...AHHHHHH! Ok great I feel better now.
I suppose I shall introduce myself and my little family. We consist of, Chris my hubby, Me (Shannon), Dustin, my stepson, Christian, our soon to be 10 yr old and our little guardian angel baby, Parker Ryan, looking down on us from up above! Yep, you guessed it...we are new homeschoolers!!!! I must admit, the closer we get to actually getting down to the swing of school, the more terrified I get. We are only homeschooling our son, Christian since my step son lives with his mother. We are using a mixture of Seton and Catholic Heritage Curricula and Apologia Astronomy for science. Everything is ready. Lesson plans are made, field trips are planned, schedule is made (more for my benefit than anything) so I've run out of excuses to get started. I am full of anxiety over this new adventure in our lives. Already, we have made some amazing friends in the homeschool community who have been so so very supportive. I thank God for them several times a day. Ecspecially my sister Tammy and my friend Christin, whom I call upon at the weirdest times to answer my neverending line of questions and who are always up for throwing me a hug and reassurance. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited but nervous at the same time! I know God is calling us to do this and he has opened so many doors to us recently, so I"m putting my faith and trust in him that he will guide me to teach Christian the best possible way I can.
Christian meanwhile is about to bounce off the furniture if we don't get started soon. I LOVE seeing him this excited about school again. He didn't once complain when I told him he had to do two book reports for me this summer, on top of taking spanish, forensics and space workshops all summer! He was actually happy to do it!?!?!?! (I am beginning to wonder if he's being controlled by book happy space aliens)
It's a full plate. We have spanish, forensics each week at Key Curriculums homeschool store, plus daily prayer and lessons here at the house, in addition to baseball (he plays fall, spring and all star summer seasons) AND, Religious Education starts in a few weeks at church as well. We have some fun field trips planned such as :
Dewberry Farms, Texas Renaissance Festival, African-American Heritage Museum, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and MORE!!
I suppose I'm just as excited as him, just a little slow on the uptake. HaHa!! I pray that God watches over us and gives us strength!! |
