Park Days & Other Homeschooling Play Days....

Park Days

Here are just a few park days and other regularly scheduled activities that I know about.  If you know of any others, please share them with us!  Park Days are such a wonderful time not only for the little ones to play together, but the support that is shared among the parents is invaluable. 

 

Adamsville Park – This park day is on 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month at noon until whenever.  There is a wonderful playground, tennis courts, baseball field, football field, wooded area, restroom facilities, small pavilion, and walking track.  We would love to see you there!!  Contact Debbi Spradlin at 674-6030 or everestacademy1@gmail.com

Birmingham - Home Schooling Bowling League at Brunswich/Riverview Lanes located on Hwy 280 next to Target (just south of The Summit). The cost is $6.50  per game. There is also a one time sanction fee charge of $10.00.  The games start at 1:00 every Tuesday. There are two divisions: Div. I for under age 12, Div. II for over age 12.  January 9th starts the new semester. Sign up for teams. Have fun. The league will start January 16th. 
 

 

 

 

Fultondale - Funtime Skate Center Homeschool Day September - May is the first Thursday of every month from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  Cost is $3 per person.  

 

 

 

 

Gardendale - This park day will be every Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 at Moncrief Park just a block off Hway 31 on the north side of Gardendale.

Homewood Park Day  1st and 3rd Fridays each month. 5th Friday is a special Food Party so come with goodies.  Time is noonish until the last family leaves. How tall am I now?

 

Hueytown - Skateland Skating Rink in Hueytown will be open for homeschoolers on the 4rd Thursday each month from 3:00 until 5:00 beginning on February 22.  The cost is $3.00 per skater (includes skate rental)  Please help spread the word. If there is insufficient response, the skating rink will discontinue this opportunity.

Moody Park Day will be on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month. We will meet from around 1:00 until whenever. Please join us! They have recently redone the park and it looks great! There is an awesome playground with play equipment for big and little kids. There are even swings for handicapped children. There is a basketball court, tennis courts, batting cages, a walking track, and a nice big pavilion. I don't have an alternative meeting place set up yet in case of bad weather, so if the weather looks chancy, call me and see if we are still meeting. Ohatchee Park Day - This park day is on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Fridays of the month from 1:00 - 3:00 at Janney Furnace Park between Anniston and Gadsden.  There is a play ground for the children, walking trails, and lots and lots of running space.  Hope to see you there!!!  Please contact Roxanne Harrison for more information at 892-0539 or annwayhome@yahoo.com .

Pell City Park - Lakeside Landing on Fridays at 1:00.  This park day has been put on hold for the summer but will resume in the fall.  

 

 

 

 

Pinson - Bethany Learning Academy 3290 Casey's Crossing in Pinson will feature a social activity the second Friday of each month from 10:00 - 1:00 for children ages 4 - 7.  For more information, please contact Billie at bglazier@uab.edu or 680-4332. 

  

Shelby County - This park day is the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at Cahaba Lily Park located on County Road 52 in Helena.  The 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, we will meet at the park at Pelham Racket Club.  It is located just off of I-65 at the "big tanks" exit.  For more information, please contact Karen at karenhardag@aol.com or (205) 283-5348.

 

 

 

 

Trussville - Pump It Up on 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  Cost is $5 per person.  Nonplaying adults are free. 

Trussville - Lightning Strikes Boweling offers boweling every Friday from 11:00 - 2:00 for homeschooler at $2.75 per game with free shoe rental.

Trussville - Playstation Homeschooling Days on the second Friday of each month from 1:00 –3:00 p.m. Trussville Playstation will be open to homeschoolers and offer skating and lunch.  Cost will be skating $5 and lunch for either 2 slices of pizza and a drink or hot dog, chips, and a drink.
