Truthquest History Planning Pages

Posted in Planning

Here is the layout I created to plan & organize all the resources I had for the year.  You could use this as a monthly/weekly & possibly a daily page:

Labeled:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?u=603566

*I could not get my word program to label these charts vertically, so I printed it out, filled them in & scanned them.  You may have to print this as an 8x10 picture or save them, open a word program, insert a picture from file, insert the picture, size according to page format (my page format settings are .5 on everything), print!

Blank:

Here is the layout I created for a daily layout:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?u=603559 or as image if you are having a problem opening the document files: http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?u=603670

My personal planner

Posted in Planning

I have posted recently pictures of layouts I have made for my homeschool planning section in my control journal (See Control Journal, Tab 1:  Teachers Manual) & now that I am moving up in the blog world I have discovered a way to share my documents.  Here is a link for the new layout I have created (I have monthly dividers, I print the weekly documents out 4-5x for each month & the daily documents 4x for each week.

I am new to the "file sharing world"  . . . I think I am having problems with the document files I have linked . . . so I am including a link for them as pictures.  To print them as images here are is my suggestion:

1.  You may have to print this as an 8x10 picture

2.  Save them, open a word program, insert picture from file, insert the picture, size according to page format (my page format settings are .5 on everything), print!

Weekly Group Activity Page:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=603472&da=y   or

Image:  http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?u=603656

Weekly Overview Page:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=603501&da=y or

Image:  http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?u=603647

Boy/girl page without names so you can use it for your son or daughter (as a document):

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=603459&da=y   or

Boy (as image):  http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=603643&da=y

Girl (as image):  http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=603644&da=y

*you can use these for yourself or put these in a folder for your children for them to use.  When we have finished a subject we highlight that description.

Combining Truthquest History with Beautiful Feet

Posted in Planning

I love the chronological layout & commentary of Truthquest.  I love being able to see EVERYTHING & decide what to skip & know what I am skipping.  Having said that, I also love the Beautiful feet guides & books!  So we are going to use them both!  As if supplementing one guide isn't enough I am going to combine both the Primary & Intermediate guides with TQ AHFYS 1 & possibly TQ AOR 1.  What a challenge!  Here is what I am thinking:

TQ Section AHFYS 1

BF Primary

BF Intermediate

2c Leif  Lessons 1-10

Lessons 1-13, 17, 19, 21

2d Columbus Lessons 11-20 Lessons 16, 18, 20, 22-26, 29
5a Jamestown Lessons 24-30
5d Pocohontas Lessons 21-24 Lessons 27-28
6 Pilgrims Lessons 31-48
6 Pilgrims Lessons 49-55 Lessons 35-51
6e William Bradford   Lessons 30-43
6f Squanto Lessons 45-60

17a Colonial Life

Lesson 76, 79-85

Lesson 52
23 Slavery   Lessons 53-67

28b Northern Arena

Lessons 86-89

34 America at a Crossroad   Lessons 62-63
37a Paul Revere   Lessons 68-72
38d Declaration of Indep.  Lesson 110
39e Winter at Valley Forge Lesson 77

45b George Washington

George Washington's Breakfast

Lessons 70-74

Lesson 78

Lessons 73-86
45f Ben Franklin   Lessons 53-58
49 A Bumpy Beginning Lessons 68-69 Lessons 86-88

The way I planning am we will not complete the entire BF guides this year.  Also, if using both BF guides realize they do not match up perfectly.

Planning for Truthquest History

Posted in Planning

I am on a yahoo group for homeschooler's that are using Truthquest History & a lot of questions about "how to plan" are asked.  So me, being the planner that I am, have decided to share!  Now there is a method to my maddness & I am not completely done so I will add another blog in the future, but here is what I have so far.  I can't take full credit for this -- I love the layout of Tapestry of Grace so I just tweaked it a bit. I will eventually post all the leg work I have done.

I created this spread sheet for a weekly/yearly layout.  Truthquest has so much great resources & it is hard for me not want to do it all.  I used this spread sheet to list EVERYTHING I want to do in each area -- this doesn't mean I will use it all - I will just have it already laid out before me so when I get there I will know what my options are.

Here is a little explanation:

1. Guide - I am debating b/t just using the AHFYS 1 & AOR 1 or just the AHFYS 1 alone. So I did this for combining
2. Unit -- The Main Topic
3. Sect -- The subtopic
4. Spines -- I have several of these (a homeschool store nearby closed & I got A LOT 50% off) so I just listed what I had & will choose from them as we get to it.
5. Supplements -- this is where I add in the BF or any other literature guides I have
6. Read Aloud -- any other books outside the guide that I want to read to all ages
7. LG -- Lower Grammar Independent reading
8. UG -- Upper Grammar Independent reading
9. Think Write
10. Co-op &/or Activities (I use this section to list books on audio & movies. -- We live WAY out in the country so when we do go to town we are in the car for at least an hour, so I include a lot of audio books to pass time away when we are in the car).

Here is what it looks like once I have scribbled on it:

Here is a daily layout I made:
