A Beach in a Baggie?!
Yep. That's what we did this week, continuing on with our Jonah lesson. Using shaving cream, blue food coloring, sand, shells, and sea critter stickers, Jerry made a beach in a baggie.
He also made a seascape using a recycled water bottle.

I also gave Jerry a Jonah word search to work on and, even though he is still learning his letters, he did pretty good. I pointed out to him the first letter in the word and then said, "Can you find that letter?" He would and then we would see if the letters behind it matched the next letters in the word we were looking for. If they did, he knew he had the right word and would circle it.
Jerry matched ten whale pictures cut in half as well and that was a little tricky because, let's face it, there are only so many different kinds of whales and they don't all look too different from one another. He took his time though and, through trial and error, found all of the right matches.
On his own, Jeremiah took out his Word & Song Children's Bible the other day and turned the pages until he found the story about Jonah. He is very excited about a Jonah party we are having for his friends at our church on July 30th. I am excited for him too. He's going to take all of the crafts he's made to show his friends and we'll even have the supplies for them to make a few too. It'll be a neat way to wrap up our lesson on Jonah, and give Jerry the opportunity to share with his friends what he learned, which is good social skills practice.
