Teaching Jeremiah, A Journey into the Mind of an Asperger's Child

Papa Jim

Jerry's Video for Papa Jim

Papa Jim, as he is fondly known by every child at our church, was in a terrible car accident on July 6th on his way home from church.  Thankfully, his wife Jennifer walked away from the accident with some vertigo, bruises, and scratches, but Papa Jim was not so fortunate.

With a broken bone and lots of other internal "ouchies" in his neck, we are all praying that, once he fully recovers from his surgery he had this past Monday, he will regain the feeling and movement in his arms and legs.

To speed along his recovery, we got a picture frame for him that records and plays back video, music, and stores still pictures.  Sunday at church we took pictures of everyone and recorded video messages by anyone interested in personally sending Jim a get well sentiment.  Jeremiah came into the back office where we were taping and asked if he could say something to Papa Jim.  You can click on the link above to see his message.  For those of you who have trouble hearing him above the background noise or interpreting Jeremiah, here is what he said...

"Hopefully we are praying for you Papa Jim and hopefully I will, I will, I will hug you and and and I will pray for you and..."

What came next was a pretty universal sign that most of you will recognize.  I thought it was so cute though and have been so blessed to see his heart through this.  Again, this is what it's all about when it comes to why we home school.
