We're home from our trip to Georgia and here are some of the highlights. It was a long drive up with Jerry asking, "Are we there yet?" when we were only about one and a half hours into our nine hour drive. Yes, they were the longest nine hours outside of being in labor!
The hotel we stayed at had an indoor pool, which I think was the best part of the trip for Jerry. Whenever we were back at the hotel for more than five minutes, he was asking to go swimming.

He's such a clown as you can see. We visited the Coca-Cola Museum, the Centennial Olympic Park, and the American Girl Boutique and Bistro for Jerry's sister Michaela. It was four days of go, go, go...but doing lots of fun stuff.

Centenntial Olympic Park
Friday was the best of all going to Stone Mountain park. We climbed up and then down the 2.6 total miles of the mountain. Jerry ran most of the way, giving himself a nosebleed at the bottom. Here he is "on top of the world".

Only one meltdown at the park and that came when we were waiting for the train to come and the conductor packed us like sardines into the waiting area. Jerry started freaking out with all of the people crowding him. He began to cry, grit his teeth together hard, and hold his head in his hands like he was afraid it might fall off. Poor guy. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long.
We also learned that Asperger's and miniature golf do not mix well. Jeremiah with a golf club in one hand, a ball in the other, and angry at having to wait his turn! Hmmmm! Won't do that again! I'm sure it didn't help that mini golf is one of my LEAST favorite activities of all time!

As much as mini golf was not fun, Jeremiah was thrilled to be able to take a crack at the rock wall. He didn't make it to the top, but that didn't matter much to him.

The funniest was the backyard circus the kids got to participate in. They chose Jeremiah and Jonathan for the grand finale and dressed them both in human cannonball outfits. They stuffed Jonathan into the canon, led a countdown, and then at the "blast off", they spun the canon around to make it appear as though Jonathan had been shot out. Then, from the back of the tent, John came running with Jerry in his arms yelling, "I caught him! I caught him!" It was so funny! Jeremiah heard the explanation of what was to happen while they were dressing him, but I think he got stuck at "shot out of a canon". Look how scared he looks waiting for his turn at the back of the tent!

Here's Jonathan being shot out.

Now back to routines. Blagghh! For all of the pictures and more details on our family vacation, visit our blog, Blooming Where We're Planted at http://bloomingwhereweareplanted.blogspot.com/.

Having a child with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), Social Anxiety, and Sensory Issues I can verify that even the greatest adventures can often be a challenge. I always try to savor the calm moments....lol
