Jerry went back to the dentist this week for his 6-month check-up. No cavities and the tooth he hit is still hanging on. It's still loose, is turning grey now, and will likely fall out early, but other than that, all was well at the dentist.
We headed back to the GI this week too. Not much has changed with Jerry's bowel habits since we were there five months ago. He said to come back if that was the case and I put it off long enough (bloodwork woes). Sure enough, Dr. Williams decided to run every test he could to get to the "bottom" of Jerry's issues (sorry, bad booty humor). Jerry had another tummy x-ray, more bloodwork, and we have to collect more stool samples. That's always fun! Jerry thinks so anyway. Nothing like getting to poop in a bowl and then watch mom or dad scoop it into very narrow test tubes.
Anyway, we go back in two weeks for the results. One thing Dr. Williams is testing for in the bloodwork this time is Celiac Disease, which is an allergy to wheat and would explain a lot of Jerry's symptoms. Celiac is common in kids on the autism spectrum, but we're praying that's not the issue. It's an expensive diet and I'm sure would be a battle to enforce, especially with three other kids in the house who can eat what they want to without any problems.
God is good though and His will, not ours. I have no doubt He'll give us what we need when we need it if Celiac is the diagnosis. Could be worse!
