I went to bed with a headache from the day’s descent from the top and woke up with a splitting headache around 3am. My head was pounding and my blood sugar had fallen. I needed food, as I have impaired glucose tolerance. Not wanting to disturb the family in the cabin, but I did anyway, I found a flashlight, my purse with snack and Excedrin, and headed out to the bathroom.
When we camp here we stay at the KOA Kabins. My poor back and knee can’t take tent camping anymore. This is the most economical way we can enjoy our trips so we can do special things like horseback riding! Also the kids love to play outside, build camp fires at night, enjoy the scenery…
Well this morning as I walked to the bathrooms, I was amazed by the stunning cloud formations building over the mountains. I found it highly unusual for them to form so early in the morning, when they tend to form by noon. I finally took care of me, back to bed, and I woke up more relaxed and pain free. I went outside and the cloud show was stunning! Bright enough to take pictures, I ran in to get my camera! Here’s the view!

We packed up, and headed back to Colorado Springs. Sadly, we hated to leave. We miss it still. Here are a few of the best shots from last year (I just can’t let it go!)

Well, we got back to Colorado Springs for a couple of more days. No elk there...but chances of seeing bear are better! Would this be the year?
We drove to the nearby quaint town of Old Colorado City nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak.

Two shops here are my favorite....a tea shop and a yarn shop! Hmmm...lots of scope for the imagination!

Then we took a short drive to a German restaurant, Edelweiss.

We were entertained by some German musicians in costume.
