This morning it arrived with a bluster…our first cold front! Autumn is not my favorite time of year, because it means the end of my pretty flowers. They have been fading out in the last few months due to little rain and intense heat. The last few months have been hotter and drier than our lovely summer. I’ve been working hard at pruning the faded plants whose blooms were spent. Although it had still been warm, the sun is at a different angle, the days have become shorter, and the little plant factories have been closing down. Even the leaves have been dropping. In recent years, we have had lovely shades of red, but not this year. Maybe that will change now that we have cooler weather. Today’s high won’t even reach 60 degrees. Even though the garden looked terrific over the summer, I was on a mean learning curve with using my new digital camera and figuring out how to post pictures to my blog. Sadly, I never got those pictures. Recently I took pictures of the few flowers hanging on in the garden…
This is one of my favorite roses. The bloom opens in the peach color, but as it matures, it deepens into the burgundy hue...

This sky plant will be covered with these lavendar blossoms through the summer, maturing into the golden berries by autumn...

Pink impatience...

Fuschia impatience...

One of my favorite roses...

Another rose from the same bush...

Blue Plumbago...

Another rose...

And yet another rose...

A peachy canna...

What beautiful flowers!!! I have to confess, my favorite would be your yellow and pink roses. I have always had a love of that color combination, though I'd NEVER turn down a rose of any color! The plumbago is also particularly beautiful. In fact, I just realized these favorites from your garden are in your header photo. We just have to meet one of these days!
