My daughter is sick with a cold. While my husband and son got up early to go to Bible Quiz for Awanas about an hour away from home, we slept in. I've been dragging since coming home from Dallas and I've felt as if a cold was trying to take me over. After I got up I busied myself organizing the school room, which has kept me busy for the last week. I really needed to get out and do some errands, but hated to leave dd home alone. When she finally got up and ready for the day, she really wanted to go out, despite her cold.
So off we went to do some of our favorite shopping...for cheap books. We love Half Price Books. We can find lots of out of print books that are often times better than what's for sale in the big bookstores. Also, we save lots of money on the extremely discounted books. I even have a teacher discount card. ;)
I got extra resource books that looked like lots of fun for our upcoming study of the American Revolution.

A few of these caught my eye. It IS time to plan for this stuff! ;)

And a few of these called my name...

We had lunch out at www.lamadeleine.com This was dd's choice. The food and atmosphere was wonderful. Poor thing kept blowing her nose, but she was chirked up by the outing. We laughed that the guys would be eating CiCi's Pizza after Bible Quiz. ;)
Then we went to Barnes and Noble to purchase the books we needed for unit 4 in TOG. I was delighted to find a book on the shelf I preferred over a recommended book. Then because my order is over $25, I get free shipping to the house. Also I used my teacher discount card. There was only one book I couldn't get. I'll order that online later.
I tried to get fabrics for our next costumes at Hobby Lobby but the fabric was too expensive. I need to go to another part of town where I can use my 40% off coupon at Jo Anns. While we were at Hobby Lobby, we got paper plates, napkins, etc for dd's birthday tea party which we hope to have in a few days. We'll see how healthy we are!
Finally we got home and my son had some surprises for me!

The purple ribbon is for "Quizzing Champion." He got the most points of all the boys in his division. The medal on the yellow ribbon was for tying for first place in his division. His division was for book 4 in Truth and Training (6th graders). Yea!!!
