our magnificent twisted home education journey

Oct. 26, 2005 - back on track :-)

Okie Dokie, we are back on track.

Madeline:  yesterday she did math and Spelling.  we actually did spelling at teh bus stop while sitting in the stroller.  whatever.  She cruised.  we should optmoize our time on the bus like that more often.  at last while it is still novel and intresting.  today she did the last 3 pages of unit 4.  Almost done with 2nd grade math and we are onlyhalf way through 4th grade. woot woot.  She also did spelling and piano (sorta) and updated her xanga site (sorta)  math took 3 hours though.  no kidding.  it was painful.

Lilyka:  yesterday did some explode the code and today she finished the book.  i have to say the explode the code primers are slick.  they transition from this letter makes this sound to sounding out words in one page but yet you never really notice.  She is finishing up all her other ABC such books and will start her first reader in a day or so.  We are reviewing numbers and will pick up her first official math curriculum  .  25% off my babies.  Thats an excellent deal.  If I were not redit card free and trying desperately to stay our of debt I would pick up all the levels at this price.   Oh well this sale happens once a year so by the time we have finished up these books they should be on sale again right?  She also played at the Startfall site for quite a while.

Ava:  yesterday she diligently practiced her lilnes and squiggles in her official school work book (hey she's only two cut her some slack ) and today she drew smilie faces and played at seseme street workshop making lemonade with Elmo and Zoe.She is getting pretty good with a mouse.

Me?  I made a chart of what subjects we are gping to do each day etc.  it is color coded.  yay me.

Sounds cool. My two year old loves his official school notebook, too. I even had to get him his own binder because his older sister keeps all her work in one. And he loves her flash cards and makes random sounds to them...ooh. Maybe I should make some color flashcards for him. Poor guy is never going to learn them. I'll point at the blue engine and say, "this is blue." He says, "No! Thomas!"
