How is your school year going?

Well, we have had a slow start. First, we had our covenant ceremony, then it was the clean up and rest of such a day, now w have a musical and choir performance in 2 weeks. It seems like we barely have time to breathe, let alone do school.

Rebekah turns 7 tomorrow and is well on her way to being an avid reader. I can't believe she will be 7. Where in the world did the time go???

We are having a Reformation History Day here at the house on Sat. Since, we don't do the trick or treat thing, we are going to watch some DVD's on the history of the Reformation.

On Monday we have to butcher 21 chickens. That will be a learning experience in of itself. The day will be great though. We will be spending the day with our pastor and his family, and that is a real blessing.

LaVante is also doing The national Day of History this year. Anyone else doing this? It is a little intimadating all the research he has to do. He wants to do it on some sort of military history event.

Finally, we are in the starting preparations for Thanksgiving. We have a few friends who will come by here and our once again opening ou home up to co-workers who don't have a family to be with. I love sharing the holidays with people who are in need, but more importantly I enjoy sharing Jesus with them.

Happy Father's Day

Hey everyone. Happy Father's Day!!! Sorry I have been MIA, but life as been hetic. I hope and pray that everyone had a wonderful day celebrating and honoring the father's in their lives. We had a huge crawfish and shrimp boil, here. My father in law and his family came from Louisiana and hung out for the day. It was great. We really enjoyed showing him and my husband honor, today. Whew, it was hot though. Over 105 with the heat index. So we cheated slightly. We ran the fans in the dining room and ate inside. I have to mop, but at least we didn't melt.
Tomorrow will be clean up day then Tuesday is back to school day. We will hit the books hard until the end of July when we will be going to Houston to my Father's renewal of his vows. We will be there for almost a week, then back to school.
We are praying about the possibility of moving to Houston later this year. Please pray with us for that. We want to be completely in God's will.
Well, I think it is time for another cold shower and then bed( well, scratch that I have to go peel 30 pounds of crawfish)

Mississipp homeschool conference

This weekend we all went to the Mississippi homeschool conference. It was great! It was the first one we went to in 6 years. We were encouraged beyond measure. We are so hyped and ready to go. Doug Phillips was our keynote speaker and that was very cool. My daughter went up to talk to him and told him we have his dvd's and that she was trying real hard to be a blessing to her mommy and daddy. My son was in Generation Joshua and learned how to make an ammendment. He loved it so much that he has declared he is going to patrick Henery College andwill be a lawyer and then on to Congress. I am so glad that he was encouraged to work harder at home.

Now, we are home and I will spend the next 2 days putting away books and getting the house organized. Then it will be time to hit the books.

Free Rosetta Stone

Rosetta Stone is the fastest way to learn a language and has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while — and you can WIN the *all new* version 3 Rosetta Stone Homeschool LATIN program… FOR FREE! This is the first year you can get Latin in the brand new Version III update.

This is a $259 program (and believe me it’s worth every penny!)
This is a computer based curriculum and Rosetta Stone will also include a headset with microphone, and a supplementary “Audio Companion” CD so you can practice lessons in the car, on the go, or where-ever! Students participate in life-like conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone incorporates listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing along with speaking and pronunciation lessons. For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program to allow parents to easily enroll up to ten students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, grade completed work (the program grades the work automatically as the students progress- I love that!), and you can view and print reports for transcripts. Homeschooling a lot of kids at your house? This program is designed to enroll and track up to ten students (five users on two computers) and will work for nearly all ages — from beginning readers up to college students.

To win this most excellent Latin program copy these paragraphs and post them in (or as) your next blog post, and/OR link to the contest from your facebook page and/OR email the information to your homeschool support group – Then go to the original page http://Jeneralities.com and leave a comment saying that you’ve posted about, or have linked to, the contest. Please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post. And good luck!

Sunday Morning

Well, here it is Sunday morning and my house is quiet. I am almost always the first one up and enjoy the peace and quiet before the day takes off.

Today we are visiting a new church. See, last month we were asked to leave our church because we would not send our children to children's church. Even though my children were never disruptive, the church as a policy about children under the age of 13 being in the main service. So, now we are visiting other churches. Hopefully we will find one that we can stay at until we leave for North Carolina.

After church we are going to the park for a BBQ and prayer. When we get home we will watch Extreme Home Makeover as a family, then do our family devotions. This week we are studying the Family Toledoth by Doug Phillips. The dvds How to Disciple Your Family are wonderful. We are also studying Genisis in our Balancing the Sword book.

All, that is left is to get together anything I need for the upcoming school week. I am adding extra Bible since both children are signed up for the Bible bee in Sept.

We are moving

Well, it has been a very busy month and an half. We went to PA for the missions confrence. It was great. Our faith was challanged and stretched. We met some wonderful people.

We enjoyed spending time together as a family. This was our first real road trip. We took lots of pictures and stopped at every welcome center in 5 states. We went to Hershey's and Gettysburg. Both were a hit, but Hershey's definitely smelled more appealing.

We got to stop and visit two very special families that we had not seen in years. First we stopped to see my husband best friend from high school. We had not seen them since Rebekah was only a few months old. The second was a family that has been key to our spiritual growth for the last 5 years. Or hearts were very blessed to see them again.

Before we left for PA we had been asked to leave our church. See, we would not send our children to children's church, but instead had them sit quietly in the main church with us. I do not feel like I needed to get up and fuss to get my children ready for church just to have them go play for 2 hours. Well, on the way home God spoke very clearly to both my husband and myself. We were moving to NC. We had never even thought of going to NC. My husband hates snow and being in a place that has real possibilities of getting any was not in his plan at all. But when God tells you to go, you go.

So, now we are looking for a house. My husband put in applications at different places. We already found a good family intergrated church.  We are preparing to move whenever the call comes in. We are all totally excitied.

We started the new school year after we got home. LaVante is doing MFW EXP - 1850 and Rebekah is doing MFW K. Both are enjoying it imensly. I even had LaVante ask if he could do extra in English. I about fell out when I heard it. rebekah wants to school on Saturday's. So, I guess those are about the best signs you can get that what you are doing is working.

He Passed!!!!

I just wanted to tell you all that my wonderful husband passed his state test for Massage Therapy. He is now certified. I am so proud of him and thankful to God that he passed.

Not much going on here. We are getting ready for our trip to Penn. We are so excitied. This is our first road trip (that didn't involve a sick dying person) outside the southern states. My children will also get to see snow for the first time. I just finished crocheting my husband a scraf, now I need to make LaVante one. My best friend, Tara, made Rebekah one.

School is going pretty good. We are using the online site ALEKS for math with LaVante and he really seems to be doing better. I think the fact that the pc can repeat over and over the lesson when he needs help is a big benefit. Rebekah is slowly starting to read.

Well, I will talk to you all later. I need to go fix hubby something to eat.

Hey People!!

It has been ages since I wrote. Thigs are going great here at the Lemar household. We started working as a family at a camp ground and that has been wonderful. We are really enjoying it. School is going good. We are waiting for our next year's stuff to get here. We will be doing MFW Exploration to 1850.

Next month we are going to Penn to go to Charity church's mission confrence. I am so excitied. We have wanted to go to one for years.

I just had my birthday. I recieved a new chronilogical study bible and I really love it. We are doing great as a family. Hubby graduated from massage therapy school and is now going to the seminary. We are looking at trying to move into the country so we can become more self sufficent. We really think this is needed given the current economic status and government. We also think this will be helpful in keeping our family close to each other and God. We are having a few issues at our current church, but are growing strong no the less through family devotions and the like.

Well, I better get back to school. Just thought I would drop by and say hi.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I love the holidays!! It is so nice being bundled up and sharing with my loved ones. Down here in Mississippi it is nice and cool. We have had the fireplace going for a couple of weeks. We have a house full of guests 90% of the time. It is great. We have a lot of single friends who have adopted us as their family, who hang out here while we cook, clean, shool, or even play games most nights. We are buying industrious sized hot chocolate (lol), but that is okay.

School is going ok. LaVante has a 4 page report on the first Thanksgiving due and he has yet to start on it.  However, he knows what will happen if it is not done on time. Rebekah read her first word last night. Her confidence just went up 100%. We jumped up and down and thanked Jesus.

My husband is going to a men's encounter this weekend. It is something our church does 2x's a year. It is great. They take you out to theese nice cabins where even cell phones don't work there. The leaders teach on different aspects to help you draw closer to Jesus. You get time by yourself throughtout the day, also, so you can spend one on one time with the King. It is awesome. You know, we do our private devotions daily but even then we are not truly alone. This is a time when there are no disruptions. The women go on them also, on the weekend before with our pastor's wife and the other women leaders. I went earlier this year.

Well, that is all. Oh yeah, my best friend taught me to crochet two weeks ago. I love it. I am making a throw for my mil. I am also making a king sized one for our bed. That is my practice one where I learn my new stitches.

Talk to you all later. I will post mt Thanksgiving menu later this week. Love you all.

My Baby is 6!!!!

Yes people it is true. My baby girl turned 6 today. I can't believe how blessed I am to have her. This last year things have changed so much that my life looks nothing like it did last year. Last year I couldn't even see her on her birthday and this year my whole family is back together, being used by God. It just goes to show that God is the God of the impssible.

On Saturday we are having a suprise party for Rebekah. I know she will be thrilled since she has never had a real party.

May each of us remember how blessed we are to be in the life of our children. God has intrusted us with them, so that we can give them back. My prayer is that I equip her now to be ready for whatever may come in this life, so that her reward will be great in the next.

Jesus is awesome!!!!

Well, it has been ages since I wrote. With in the next month we will have internet so I will be able to update more often. Our family is doing great and we are continously being used by God. We have grown so much that our family and marriage is stronger in the Lord and closer to one another than we were before. It is great.

After much prayer and discussions we have deceided to use My Father's World with both the children. We are very excitied. Right now we are in the middle of moving into a bigger house. The Lord has blessed us  with a house that has enough room for a school room/library.

We just finished a four day teaching at our church from Bro Jim Hockaday. He is annoited in healing and it was awesome to see how God works. I experienced healing as did my husband. My children are learning a ton at home and church and we are joyful and grateful that the Lord loves  us enough to reach out and save us again.

well, I better get going. I can't wait to hear from you all again.

God is Faithful

Well, I have so much to catch you all up on. First, my husband and are back together and have rededicated our loves to the Lord. Second, we brought LaVante home from school and are homeschooling again.

Let me see if I can quickly explain what happened. At the beginning of the year LA and I decided to move in together to help each other out. We lived as roommates. Well, God had other plans for us. He moved us acroos the street from some wonderful godly people. About three weeks after we moved in the man across the street came to talk to us about the Lord. LA told him how we were married but getting divorced and how we were both backslidden/ This man and his wife spoke to us without condemnation but with love about how we needed to turn back to God. A couple of days later we did. A couple of days later we got back together. Last week we were both baptizied and are in the process of renewing our vows.

After we got right with God it was only natural to resume homeschooling. So here we are. The children are doing great and both my husband and I realize that without God we just wont make it.

Thank you all for your prayers.

thank you for all the prayers

Thank you everyone for all the prayers these last few eeks. I am doing much better. It was really hard there for a while, but with the thoughts and prayers from so many I made it through.

My husband as started another new job. He just was not happy in the pizza buisness anymore. He is now overseeing the opening of a new Cajun place. It is great. It is open 24hours, as a bar, and a cyber cafe with it, and is right next to USM.

The children and I are doing great in school. With LaVante we are focusing extra hard on Math and English. Rebekah is doing great at learning ABC's and numbers.

I have been working out a lot. I am now down 3 dress sizes. I am thrilled, but still not where I want to be. I am really carefull in what I eat and drink. I am also working out two times a day.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Talk to you all later.

long update

It has been a long time since I updated. First I was super sick. I ruptured my eardrum, had strep throat and got pink eye. I have no idea where it all came from.

Then my husband and I went to class so we could take our life insurance test. We are selling it, health insurance, mutal funds, and mortages.

Then we had birthday's, both mine and my husband's. We watched the Super Bowl, but our team lost.

Then yesterday, i got word that a friend of mine killed herself the day before yesterday. Her neighbor found her. i am really upset by it.

I guess that is all for now. Talk to you all later.

My baby is 10 today

Today my son turns 10. I can't believe I am old enough to have a 10 year old. LOL. I am sitting here thinking back to when he wa born. I had a very difficult pregnancy. I was in labor from 22 weeks until 33 weeks when I delievered him. At almost 7 weeks early he weighed 8 pounds. Once he made it home from the hospital he was an easy, laid back baby. He slept through the night from 6 weeks and didn't get sick for the first time until he was 18months. He was always laughing and smiling and had all the ladies in love with him. He loved being around people and loved noise. We use to take him bowling with us at 2months and he would sleep through. As a young child he was content, curious, and full of laughter. He woke up smiling and stayed that way through the day.I am proud of the young man he is becoming and cant wait to see what he does with the rest of his years.

So, if you get a chance today, please tell him Happy Birthday!!!!

Happy New Year

Happy New year everyone. Last night my husband got home with 17 minutes to spare. We were able to bring in the year together, praying.

We have had a pretty busy day here. We started school back up. Right now we are doing a hodge podge os stuff until our new comes after our tax refund. It is good though. I had a bunch of stuff that had been bought and never used and now we are using it. If all goes well we might not start the next year of MFW until Sept or so.

I made gumbo for us to eat today, got laundry done, so all that needs to be done is dishes and picking up the bedrooms. My husband is off tomorrow so we will take the day off and work oround the yard if it is dry out there. We need to rake and pick up leaves and clean up the shed.

I made a couple of resolutions this year. One is to read two books a week. Last year I read one a week and really enjoyed it. Second, I want to keep my blogs updated more. As of yesterday I have four of them. Dh signed on with myspace so he could keep in touch with friends, so I signed up so we could comment on each other's. Third, is to be more organized in my homeschool. I am still going to be relaxed but I want to keep better notes on what we are doing. The last one is to be a better wife in every way. This includes working on losing weight so I am more attrative to my husband.

Well, I guess that is enough for now. We need to go do our PE.
