Writing workshop assignment 1
Book: Risking the Forbidden Game
Setting: In Morocco, in a Muslim community
Jamal wants to learn more about being a Christian but if he does he would be disowned by his family. He brought a French Soldier into his home and that was illegal. The Soldier was a deserter and he wanted to help him.
He becomes a Christian.
Writing assignment 2.
I liked Sam in The Lord Of th Rings. He was an understanding and encouraging friend to Frodo. He was insecure about things but he was alway will to try.
I did not like The Dark Lord Sauron in The Lord Of the Rings because all his undead spirit cares about is the lust for more power and to rule over everything.
I liked Odysseus in The Odyssey. He is brave and trustworthy. He is adventurous, smart and cunning. He is loyal to his wife.
I did not like the suitors in The Odyssey because they steal Odysseus stuff and destroy his property. All of them want to marry his wife becuse they think Odysseus is dead.

Lesson 1:
You are off to a great start, Nathan. (And I like your pic, too). I should ask all the students to post pics. LOL
It would have been easier for me to check your assignment if you had listed it like this:
Character: Jamal
Setting: Morocco
Problem: Jamal will be disowned if he tries to learn about being a Christian
Plot: He does illegal things, meant to help, like bringing a French soldier into his home
Solution: He becomes a Christian
HOWEVER, you have done such a nice job putting it together into paragraph form, that I was able to find each of the 5 elements without too much work. :-)
Nice job!
Lesson 2:
What can I say? You gave me great character sketches about both good and bad guys, using excellent reasons.
You are certainly ready to go on to Lesson 3.
Welcome to the classes! Hope you enjoy them. Wish I could be doing this "live" for you. Say hi to Joel and Bethany for me.
