Lesson 10, Begin your story-- Lesson 11, Nutshells

Posted in Nathan

This story takes place in a big forest with animals of small interests. Like Bob the duck. He is a sloppy duck and his one interest is making his house look just right. Which means a pile of clothes heaped on the floor. Dishes still in the sink. Books in a stack. ( Not a neat stack) Sterance the Bunnies interest is easy. Carrott, he just can't get enough carrots. He sometimes has a nasty temper that gets him into bad situations. Then there is me, Bertram the Bear. IT's hard to describe yourself but I'll do my best. I'm a stocky bear and my interest is most likely to have peace between all the animals of this forest, and tasty food.

I'm sorry to say but Sterance not only loves carrots but he sometimes steals them too. Bob the duck happens to have at least 100 carrots and Sterance doesn't think Bob has enough appreciation for his carrots. Sometimes, just sometimes Sterance steals Bob's carrots. Luckily Bob hasn't noticed that some of his carrots have gone missing...until today.

I really like your "voice," Bertrum Bear. It's an easy-going, first-person story-teller kind of voice. Not the usual way of beginning a story, but you captured my attention with your "hook" of introducing me to the characters. Remember, "interesting characters" is one of the ways you can start a story. Nice job, Nathan.

And your nutshell summaries of the 2 books are well done, as is the summary of your own story with the working title.

You are really coming along in your writing lessons.

Have I missed your lesson 9?
