Singing a Song of My Own

Feb. 3, 2010 - I think it's about time I returned....

because when I logged in today I found I had forgotten how to add an entry.  >_>

But here I am!  I haven't been particularly busy of late, just forgetful of my poor blog.

Let's see...  What can I chatter about?

Well, I'm having my next metting for my piano teaching classes next week.  Hopefully I'll start teaching really really soon.  I already have a few people who have said they want their kids in the lessons!

It has been REALLY snow here this winter!!  It snowed a bunch couple weeks ago, and before that had completely melted, it snowed again just last week!  Not that I am averse to the snow.  I like it.  I figure that if it is going to be cold, it may as well snow and be pretty.

I recently went through my story ideas file and organized it.  (yeah, I know, amazing.  please don't have a heart attack while reading my blog, that would not be cool.)  I put all the modern/future time ideas on one page and all the medieval time ideas on another page, then did a brief description of the plot, then I numbered them so I knew how many of each I had, and then I marked which ones I had pieces already written of and what chapter I was one for the ones I had started writing.  Ended up with sixty story ideas.

After that, I went back through and, in a different file, typed out the names of all the characters just for the fun of it.  Ended up with about one hundred fifty characters, maybe more....  And that's just the stories I'm writing myself.  It doesn't count the... one... two... three... four stories I'm writing with other people.  And then of course there are the characters who don't have stories yet and just ramble around the house without a care in the world being envied by the characters that actually have stories.  At least not all one hundred fifty some characters are extremely developed and talkative, else I'd go crazy.... or crazier.

Well, that's all I can think to ramble about for the time being.  Thanks for stopping by and reading!!  ^_^

Nov. 24, 2009 - -pops head in again for a moment-

I added music, in case you couldn't tell. ;)  This is cause for much joy for me....  They're arranged more or less in alphabetical order.  I KNOW!  ZOEgirl and Rebecca St. James are at the top.  I added them first, but didn't feel like scrolling all the way down the page to put them where they would belong to be in order, so I just left them.  After those artists though, I THINK the rest are in order.  So yeah... Go check out my music and let me know what you think! :D

Nov. 23, 2009 - -whistles innocently-

Heh. Why don't I write here more?? Good question. And this question has a simple answer.
I'M BUSY!!! ARG!!
Sorry. -chuckle- I'm just getting tired of being busy. -_- But also... I like being busy, too... so I'm not gonna complain. Instead, I'll give you update, yes?
First and foremost, I started Karate lessons at last. W00T!! Currently I'm a white belt with a yellow tip. Once I get two yellow tips I'll be ready to take the test for yellow belt. At my dojo the belts are: White, yellow, blue, green, brown, black. Actually... I'm not sure if they have a brown belt, but oh well. -shrug-
I'm also doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), also known as suicide for authors. Whoever thought up the idea of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days should both get a big huzzah for brilliance, and also be shoved off a tall cliff. >_> Okay, not really. I enjoy NaNo, despite my complainings. Wait... didn't I say I wasn't going to complain? Okay, moving on.
Voice lessons are still going grandly. Getting ready for my Christmas recital, where I will be singing Fly Away, by FFH, and Sunrise, by Nichole Nordeman. Perhaps some other stuff.
Aaaaaand.... that's it for my schedule. 'Cept for work of course. Working half days again. OH! AND I'm taking classes on how to teach piano, so hopefully I can quit working away from home completely. I hate being away from home, even just for half the day. =P
So I've been keeping busy! Mostly with writing at least two thousand words every day. x_x

Saturday I went to my first LARP (live action role play) ever. I went as one of my characters. Thea, or Jaella. She's a gypsy. It was a TON of fun, especially once one of my friends got the brilliant idea of starting a thieves guild with me, her, and another friend. We stole a bag of marshmallows, and between two of us, ate them. Then we stole the stuff out of a secret stash that we found, and then some shields from the armory shop. Yes, we were quite busy. In the secret stash, we left a note reading, "You've been robbed by the illustrious Magpie Band. Tee hee.". -grin-
We hid the stuff up in fir trees, then sat and waited for people to notice. No one noticed, and we got bored, so we penned a second note and split up, my friend to deliver the note to someone to give to the person in charge, and me to go and wait for her at our base. (yes, we had a base and everything. -grin- We rock.) Just as we split up, we hear something to the effect of, "Hey! Someone tell (-persons name-) that the Magpie Band stole his stuff!"
Needless to say, my friend hightailed it back to me and we both hightailed it for our secret hideout. XD We made it there, then our other band member got there, then I (gr.) had to go back for my brother, who I had had to bring along to keep an eye on, and who had decided to turn around and walk back to the house. >_< I was irritated.
But anyways, I found him, and headed back to the base, but found that it was swarming with soldiers. So I couldn't very well go back there. So I wandered around the woods, hiding and sneaking and trying to find where my friends were.
The LARP ended before it could be resolved, but it was still fully awesome. B) ... Except for the fact I found skirts and scarves are NOT conducive to running about in the woods. OR dragging a younger brother around. XP But oh well. I still had a blast. And I still have yet to finish picking all the burrs and stickies out of my scarves and skirts. I'm TOTALLY wear pants next time.

Well, farewell until next time!

Sep. 12, 2009 - Poor Little Blog...

Oh dear... Been so long... -pats blog-
Well... Lemme think what's happened since the last post...
Full-time job at the sewing place. I really hate working all day, so I'm looking into teaching piano at home so I only work part-time at the sewing place.
Writing is still going just as crazily as ever. Ravenhollow; Get Ready has been finished, edited and all, and sent into a contest. I'm working on two other stories officially, those two are "Far From Present" and "Ravenhollow; Get Set". Then I'm doing "Wading Through" (or something like that, I'm still trying to figure out a permanent title) for National Novel Writing Month. Maybe, if I have time, I'll do two stories for NaNoWriMo, and end up doing "RainQueen" too. After those, I'm doing four co-written novels: "Shadowed", "CharrieMix" (no, that's not the permanent title), "Hunter's Moon", and "Dragonvale". And THEN, I'm kinda half working on about five other stories... Hehehe...
Voice lessons are still in session, and I'm still lovin' 'em. ;D I've have a recital coming up in December, which I'll be singing "Fly Away" (ocapela), then "Sunrise", and a Christmas song or two. And maybe an Italian piece called "Ho Sparse Tante Lagrime". Fun. B)

Well, there ya go! Update! Haha! Hopefully I'll have more regular updates...

May. 1, 2009 - Awarded!

I was awarded by YahwehsDaugher!  You can see her here: YahwehsDaughter

And for an update...

I have at last gotten my way cool haircut!!!  I LOVE it, though there is one thing I don't like about it and that is that the bangs like to get in my way when I eat.  LOL  But that is easily remedied by a headband.  Or by stuffing it behind my ears as well as I can.  So that is exciting!!

The next exciting thing is that I GOT A JOB!!!!  WHOO!!!!!!!  Yeah, I'm excited.  -grin-  I work at a sewing company, mostly I do inspection, which is trimming threads from things that have been sewn, folding the things/turning the things right side out, putting the things in bags that I have put stickers on, then stuffing the things in boxes, taping the boxes shut, writing up the ticket for that box, copying the ticket and then taping the ticket onto the box and putting it in the pile where it will get shipped off.  Then I'll be sewing whenever they need extra people to sew.

It was interesting how I ended up getting the job.  Last friday a friend from church told me and mom about the place and that they needed help for a couple days because they got a big order of t-shirts.  So mom went in and sewed tags on t-shirts, and I folded t-shirts and packed them into boxes.  We were asked to come back Monday, which I did, mom couldn't because she had my siblings to teach and all, and on Monday they offered me a job!!  Yay!!

So I'm working part time, from 8:00am to noon, until I graduate on May 22nd.  Then I'll work full time; 8:00am to 4:30pm.  So yeah.  I'm happy.  =D

We got the fabric for my graduation dress!  I'll have to post a picture of it once mom finishes making it.  The fabric is wine colored, with silver sparklies embedded in it, and then there is a wine colored overlay!  I hope that mom'll be able to work out flutter sleeves with it, else it will have poofy sleeves, which I also like.

So there's my update for ya'll!!  Thanks for coming by and have a great day!!!

Apr. 26, 2009 - -yawn-

Okay, so the Macintosh computer finally decided to die. >=(  With all my stuff on it.  >=(

Alright alright, it isn't THAT bad I guess.  I was able to retrieve about all my stuff.  There's just one more thing I need to get off of it.  A friend of ours thinks the fan probably broke, so it overheats after a while and shuts down.  =P  Annoying.

But still, my stories are going well.  I'm really working on two, Ravenhollow and Shadow of the Sun, but there is one more I'm kinda working on.  Don't have a name for it.  lol  In Ravenhollow I've just about finished chapter seven, in Shadow of the Sun I'm working on chapter nine.  The dark moment.  Bwehehehe...  Yeah... -grin-  In the nameless one, which I call Annebelle after the main character, I'm just writing random scenes right now, not really chapterizing them.  I've gotten bits from the beginning all the way to the dark moment, which is usually around chapter nine.  So all is well in writing land!!

In other news:

I've been playing around with manga style drawing.  Not sure how I like it yet, I still think that that style looks kinda dorky but... -shrug-  It is actually pretty fun to draw that way, not having to worry as much about getting all the proportions right like with realistic drawing.  But whether I end up liking drawing in this style or not, I'm still going to keep up my realistic drawing.  And I have been doing realistic drawing too lately!  I've just about finished a drawing of one of my characters; Annebelle actually. -grin-  If you want to see it and read my characters' ramblings, you can go here:

http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/charriejournal

Last Wednesday me and some friends performed at a seniors' center.  I sang two songs, "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman and "Set the World on Fire" by Britt Nicole.  Then my friends sang some rounds and played some instruments.  It was fun.  Got a taste of what being a singer is like.  And I loved it.  -is now even more impatient to be a singer-

Then on Friday I worked at my first real job!  I folded t-shirts.  From 8:30am to 4:30pm I stood and folded t-shirts.  Got two fifteen minute breaks and a thirty minute lunch break.  My back, legs, FEET and shoulders were rather sore afterwards.  And sore the next day.  I'm still a little sore.  But it was a good experience!  I'm going back in Monday for a couple hours, then that'll probably be the end of that job.  They just needed extra help because they got a big order.

I found out that Britt Nicole is coming out with a new CD in August!!!  And heard one of the new songs on the radio.  It is awesome!!  -excited about the new CD-

That's about it!  Thanks for reading and have a great day!!!

Apr. 16, 2009 - My Poor Neglected Blog

Oh dear. I haven't posted here in SO LONG!!!! D= Bad me!
Okay, so first of all, I was awarded by YahwehsDaughter!

I pass it on to...
Samii
MaidenCapitolaBallot
SeaChel

Now, for updates.
Sunday night I woke up sick, I woke up SIX times to throw up, really not fun, then I was sick all Monday. Which meant I missed the drawing class exhibition thing!! D= Very sad. Everyone else went though, and dad took my pictures there anyways. The turnout was good, and everyone had fun. =)

On Tuesday I felt most of the way better, and a good thing too because we drove an hour away to bring Nike (my puppy) to the vet to get his rabies shot and to get neutered. So we hung around up there for a while, 'cause we were going to pick him up that afternoon, and then went to spend time at my grandparents house for the rest of the time. Then we picked Nike up and got back home in time for me to eat dinner and run off to a babysitting job I got! =D

We are on the fourth day of our two week spring break! I'm loving it. Getting caught up on some fun reading now that I don't have half a dozen school books to read. I have one more book in the Maximum Ride series, I must say, I was very very disappointed in "The Final Warning". Stupid global warming stuff. -big sigh- But minimal language in this one!!! =D But there was a little kissing between two characters. -wrinkles nose- Just one part but still. Blech.
I'm impatiently awaiting a call from a library that will tell me that "Boneman's Daughters" is ready for me to pick up! That is Ted Dekker's latest book, can't wait to read it!! Love his stuff. Amusing story behind me getting the book actually...
We saw it at Wal-mart, and unfortunately it was almost twenty dollars to get it! =O None of us really wanted to pay that much so we decided we'd get it from the library. When we got home I looked it up on our library's website and put a hold on it. Then found that I was 36th in line to get it!! Yeah. I was kinda disappointed about that, I mean, that means no getting it during spring break!! D= But! Mom suggested I look to see if it is at a different, smaller library. -grin- I looked it up and sure enough, they had it!! So we zipped down to that library, and I ran in to get it. I searched. And searched. And searched. I looked where the rest of Dekker's books were, I looked in the New Books section, I double checked on a computer that it was there, then I finally asked for help. The library lady looked around all the same places I did, then in some other places, then checked one more place. And found it! It hadn't finished getting processed into the library yet, so I wasn't able to check it out! They took my phone number and said they'd give me a call when it was ready to be checked out.
Now I am waiting.

Tonight we're going to my best friend's birthday party! We've known each other for eleven years. We're bestest friends. I'm really excited!

Well, there you have an update!

Mar. 30, 2009 - Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

That is what my brother's ball is doing. And has been doing for the past few days. >.< Driving me more nuts than I already am.
We got SNOW a couple days ago!!!! It was awesome! Only, it melted the next day. =(

I've found a way cool new book series that I've been gobbling up the last couple days. It is six books long. I heard about it on the OYAN forum, thought it sounded interesting, and so looked it up at the big library about thirty minutes away. It was checked out, so I waited until the next time. They were all checked out except for the third book. So, according to my incredibly patient nature, I checked out that book. Oh, just realized I didn't tell ya'll what the name of the series is. lol Maximum Ride. Awesome. The third book, titled "Saving the World, and Other Extreme Sports", was very interesting, pulling me in right away. It did have some language though, and a couple... ah... inappropriate parts that I could have done without. =/ There was also the tiniest bit of romance, in which two of the characters share a kiss, but it wasn't too bad. =P Easy enough to skip over.
So, with the language and such I was kinda unsure about checking out the other books. Then I heard that the third book was the only one with that stuff in it. Mhm. Of course I pick up the ONE book of the series that has the dumb stuff in it. =P
So anyways, we went to the little library down the road Saturday and, miraculously, it had the first two books and the third!! WHOO!!! So it has redeemed itself. Partly. While we were there I found that they have NO Dekker books!! -gasp-
But yeah. I finished the first book (The Angel Experiment) Saturday, which still had some language, but not as bad as the third, and I started the second book (Schools Out -- Forever). I'll probably be finishing the second book today. It too had some language, and a little romance where some of the characters kiss. Blech. Still, easy to skip. =D

But yeah. Totally cool series. Great plot line, neato awesome characters. -loves series-

Oh, go check out my ColmanBlue Fansite!!!

Mar. 24, 2009 - High Winds and High Spirits

Yesterday we decided to go for a walk, which we have been doing fairly regularly. When mom announced we were going to be going for one after lunch, right before lunch I ran and took a quick shower, 'cause I don't like having wet hair but I don't like using the hair dryer. The last few times we've gone for a walk and I've taken a shower right beforehand, I've come back with almost completely dry hair!! So I took a quick shower, and I can take FIVE minute showers by the way, and they are good ones too, I get all the soap out of my hair and everything. Then I came out and ate a quick lunch and we went out for our walk. Now, the way we walk is, we go up one way for a little, then turn and walk about a mile, then about a mile back to our house.
Now yesterday it was really windy, like super crazy windy! While walking for the little ways, the wind was against us, and it was strong enough that it made walking just a little more difficult. It was awesome. B) For those that don't know, I LOVE the wind.
Then we turned around and had the wind to our backs!! It was much easier to walk with the wind pushing us along. lol But, it also meant that the wind was blowing my hair into my face. =/ But I got used to it and soon we had turned around to walk back to our house. Now, we had walked about a mile already, and that area is fairly hilly. So we're walking against the wind and up hills. That was fun... haha. But, once we were walking downhill, it was really fun though. Except for when the wind picked up enough to toss small pebbles in our eyes. That wasn't so fun. But that could be fixed by half closing our eyes and just watching the ground. Very fun! =D
So then we got home and I sat down to brush my hair. Have you guessed yet? Wind+long wet hair= What? That's right. Seriously tangled hair. It took my about five minutes to get my hair back to normal.

After that I started looking around on the internet for a picture of a certain hairstyle that I want, mom's going to be cutting my hair soon and I want something different done with my bangs. I have this perfect picture of what I want in my head. So I'm looking, looking, looking, and finally I find a picture that looks close enough to the picture in my head. I decide to look at a couple other pages on that site when BAM! The electricity flips off!! -sigh- So I wasn't happy that I had just found a picture of the style I wanted and my brother wasn't happy because he was just about to watch a movie. But it was okay.

But then, I start prowling around the house, feeling a little restless, and then it hit. A hyper spree!! Now, you have to understand, I am rarely hyper. I mean, I have my days where I have more energy than others, but I am usually not, run around the house chattering like crazy hyper. Hoo boy was I yesterday though. LOL Mom had me clean the kitchen, which I did quickly and not so neatly, then I ran into the front room where mom was at the little game table reading. I sit down and start talking. Fast. And then I asked the same question three times in rapid succession and then changed the subject. Then I got up and started doing laps around the table and chair that mom was sitting in.
She suggested a jog, and so I grab the dog leash and grab Nike and off I go for a jog. So I jog for a while, come back, grab my other dog, Madison, and go for another jog. I get back and collapse onto the couch. Mom looks somewhat relieved. Not for long! Bwahahahaha! About five or ten minutes later I'm just as hyper as before the jog!! I start chattering every thought that enters my head, so it was like, "I'm bored. We should watch a movie. Let's watch Thr3e."
Mom: Go ahead and put it in. -evil grin-
Me: -suspicious- -gets up then remembers the ELECTRICITY is out- -lays back down- "That orchid's pretty. I'm hungry."
Mom: "Get a grapefruit out of the fridge, just hurry so you don't let all the cold air out."
Me: Nevermind. Ooh! ... Yes, I'm hungry. -gets up and gets grapefruit-

And on and on. After a while mom sent us kids downstairs to get some clothes to fold. So I go down and stand flipping the lightswitch on and off wondering why the light won't go on. Duh. The electricity is out! So I run back upstairs and grab my sister's flashlight and run back downstairs. I'm in the middle of a question directed at my sister, when, with a flash, THE ELECTRICITY COMES BACK!!!!!!!!! I scream in the middle of my sentence and go shooting upstairs singing and jabbering at mom about the wonders of electricity. We folded and put away clothes, then I got back on the internet and showed mom the picture I found. I was hyper for about another half an hour or full hour, then it wore off.

I don't know why I was so hyper, I had had a little coffee ice cream and some cake, but that usually doesn't set me off! 0.o The last time I had been anywhere close to that hyper was when I had drunk two cups of pop and a cup of coffee. That was crazy too. lol
Well, thanks for reading! Have a great day!!

Mar. 23, 2009 - I Love Spring!!

Still fighting away the last remnants of that cold, taking Astragalus three times a day so that is helping. B)
Last week our youth group repainted the youth center. It took three days, Monday thru Wednesday. I helped on Tuesday and Wednesday and was christened a "great roller". -grin- So now I know mom taught me well to use a paint roller. It was pretty fun! Near the end my back started hurting though... =P Evil back. I pulled it a while ago while trying to move a barn door and it likes to act up sometimes. But anyways, we painted the game room a pumpkin color, that reminded me of nacho cheese while it was wet. rofl Then the main room we painted a chocolate color, then the cafe is a light mustard color, and the foyer is the same color as the cafe. Then behind the stage is black, which makes the stage look bigger. It is pretty awesome. Can't wait to have youth group in it!! =D

We found a little brown snake while doing barn chores this morning! It was hurt, I think our big fat Sheltie stomped on it. -sigh- But I brought it in and put it in one of those plastic critter keeper things and I think it might be dead. =( At least it was able to die without one of the barn cats turning it into a plaything though...

Things are starting to get pretty and green!! The trees are budding out, the magnolia is blooming, the grass is growing... Spring is such an awesome season...
Well, thanks for reading! Have a great day!!

Mar. 17, 2009 - The Sun Is Setting... Pretty....

Well, I'm feeling rather peaceful at the moment. The sun is indeed setting, I can see it to my right through our front door. The sky's all pink and orange. -sigh- So pretty.
I'm still fighting off this nasty cold. =P -weeps- I hate being sick.
Today I went to help paint our youth group building, which was fun. I painted a couple few walls, and everyone ooh'ed and ah'ed over my paint job. o.0 -shrug- At least I was able to shove off the praise onto mom for being a good teacher. -grin- rofl But I had a good time. Especially since I got a free chocolate milkshake. -drools- I love chocolate milkshakes.
So... nothing else has really happened... but this entry is looking dreadfully short! D= Hmm...-thinks-
Well, this is just going to have to be a short entry I guess, 'cause I can't think of anything else to write for the life of me. =P
Thanks for reading!
Oh wait! I just thought of a topic!! =D The tastiness and versatility of milk!!
So, there is strawberry and chocolate milk, but there is also coffee and vanilla milk that you can make at home!
Coffee milk is made by putting coffee mix and sugar into milk and mixing it up, sometimes you have to strain it 'cause all the lumps won't go away. But it is VERY good.
Vanillia milk is made by mixing vanilla extract and sugar together, and is almost as good as coffee or chocolate milk. Mmm...
So there... a long entry, though how useful it is is debatable. lol

Mar. 11, 2009 - Oh Look! A Squirrel!

Yes, the title is completely irrelevant to this entry.
Well, I'm feeling better, my nose is still a bit stuffy and my ears are acting up a bit still, but I'm much better. Everyone else is better too.
Last Saturday I got my Jeep!!!!!!!! =D =D It is a Cherokee, and her name is Tiewanda. lol She came with the name. -shrug- But anyways, "Tiewanda" is AWESOME! She's my dream car. -happy grin-
One of our goats has mouth sores. Poor baby! It is Frisk, my second favorite of course, that has them. =P
I finally came up with a name for my One Year Adventure Novel! I want you to tell me what you think of it: "Under the Setting Sun". How does it strike you? Leave a comment and tell me!!
But yeah, I've been writing A LOT lately. Working mostly on "Under the Setting Sun", "Ravenhollow" (the 50,000 word novel I wrote in a month for NaNoWriMo), Shadowed (a story I'm co-writing that is absolutely awesome), and another story that I have no name for. I've just been calling it Annebelle since the main character's name is Annebelle, but that isn't the real name. I've also been messing around a little with "No Idea", which you can read in my writing blog. It isn't finished, but I'm trying to get it that way. I've been editing it so much that I'm going to have to repost it. lol

On the to-do list today:
Work on chapter seven of Under the Setting Sun
Finish editing chapter two of Ravenhollow
Perhaps write more of Shadowed if my co-author gets the next bit sent back today
Watch the next lesson for the OYAN curriculum
Practice my piano and voice
Be nervous all over again about Regionals being this Saturday
Finish up school
Take a shower =P
Go to youth group tonight
