May. 1, 2008 - The Four Personalities...
Well, I typed up the three last personalities and then decided that I may as well just copy and paste the Sanguine that I already typed up onto here. I'll be deleting the entry that I made for the Sanguine since it won't be necessary. When you finish reading these I'd love to know which personality you think you are! Usually people are a mix of two or sometimes more. My main personality is Melancholy and I have a secondary of Phlegmatic. I have a little Sanguine and even less Choleric. Most people will be a mix, but sometimes there will be someone who is only one, or an even mix of all! The person that taught us about the personalities at co-op has a husband that is an even mix of all! My best friend's sister is almost completely Sanguine and my grandma is almost all Phlegmatic! So without further ado, the four personalities:
Personality Plus For Parents
by Florence Littauer
Excerpt of Chapter One -- The Powerful Personality -- Choleric
Powerful Cholerics are those who are naturally goal-oriented, who live to achieve, and who organize quickly. Their motto would echo the Nike advertising slogan "Just do it."
Cholerics seek loyalty and appreciation from others. They strive for control and expect credit for their achievements. They love being challenged and easily accept difficult assignments. Their self-discipline and ability to focus make them strong leaders. But their drive and determination can cause them to become workaholics, make them opinionated and stubborn, and leave them insensitive to others' feelings.
Of the Choleric you may say, "He really gets in your face" or "If you want to get something done, ask her." You would call this person the "doer."
The Perfect Personality -- Melancholy
The Perfect Melancholy is quieter, deeper, and more thoughtful than others. Melancholies strive for perfection in everything that is important to them. Their motto would be "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!" With perfection as their goal, these people are often disappointed and even depressed by less-than-perfect results.
Melancholies need sensitivity and support from others. And they require space and silence in which to think before they speak, write, or act. They are task-oriented folks who are careful and organized. These perfectionists thrive on order, and you can depend on them to complete a job on time. But their perfectionism may make them critical or pessimistic, and they drive themselves crazy with their efforts to measure up to their own high standards.
When speaking about the Melancholy you'll likely say, "She is so together" or "He is such a perfectionist." You might call this person a "thinker."
The Peaceful Personality -- Phlegmatic
Peaceful Phlegmatics are balanced, contented people. They don't feel compelled to change the word or to upset the status quo. The original conversationists, they view all of life through the filter of conserving their energy. Their motto might be "Why stand when you can sit? Why sit when you can lie down?" To the more driven personalities, Phlegmatics appear to be slower than the rest. This isn't because they aren't as smart as the others; it's because they are smarter. While we fret and worry, they watch and determine not to "sweat the small stuff."
Phlegmatics dislike risk, challenge, and surprise and will require time to adapt to changes. Although they avoid situations that are too stressful, they can work well under pressure. However, their lack of discipline and motivation often allows them to procrastinate in the absence of a strong leader.
Phlegmatics are reserved, but they enjoy being around people. Although they don't have the need to talk as much as the Sanguine, they have an innate wit and seem to say the right thing at just the right time. They are steady and stable; and because they are security-oriented, they like to create safety for their spouses and children. They seek peace and quiet and tend to act as negotiators instead of fighters. These loyal individuals find worth and respect in providing for their families and assisting people who need help.
When referring to the Phlegmatic, you would say things like "She is so sweet" or "He is such a nice guy." You would view this person as a "watcher."
The Popular Personality -- Sanguine
Popular Sanguines are high-energy, fun-loving, outgoing people. They are the ones with the bumper stickers on their cars asking, "Are we having fun yet?"
Sanguines seek the attention, affection, approval, and acceptance of those around them. These boisterous individuals bring fun and drama into almost any situation, love the spotlight, and enjoy motivating others. They initiate conversations and can instantly become best friends with everyone in a group. Sanguines are usually optimistic and almost always charming. However, they can be disorganized, emotional, and hypersensitive about what others think of them.
Of a Sanguine person you might make comments such as, "She talks all the time" or "He never met a stranger." You may call this person the "talker."

Man, this is weird, but I'm a mixture of three!
How I'm Perfect (that sounds wrong, but you know what I mean ;-D ): At times I'm quite quiet and I think a lot. I'm a perfectionist. And I need support from others.
How I'm Peaceful: I dislike risk and huge surprises and I require time to adapt to changes (although, just because I dislike it doesen't mean I can't do it). I procrastinate a lot!
How I'm Popular: I said of "Perfect" that I can be quite quiet at times. But I can also be quite the talker!!! I want the attention, affection, approval, and acceptance of those around me. I love the spotlight!
So yeah, I'm quite the mixture! :-D

Hmm, I think I'm a mixture of the first three.
So you're going to college next year? Have you decided on a major? I'm about to finish my Junior year. I actually just finished taking my last final; I just have to move out of my place now and go back home.
I'm so glad it is done, now I can focus all of my time back on writing book 2. Book 1 will soon be moving onto production ^^. It should be out really soon, I'm so excited :D
Thanks for visiting my blog :)

I'm the 2nd and last, sometimes the 3rd.... I'm not the last though, because I don't make friends quickly at all, too reserved for that. But I talk my parents' ears off... My mom is the first one, one of my sisters is the 3rd, one of my sisters is the 2nd, the little ones I can't tell, and my dad is the 1st and 2nd. Sometimes 3rd. I think... |
