Just Wanna Go Hide...

Ever had a day where you get up, are awake for less than an hour, and want to go back to bed?
Yesterday that is how I felt. I got up at eight and went out to do barn chores with everyone else. We were just about done when Bandit, our barn dog, went trotting out into the pasture like he was looking for something. My brother joked that he was looking for Dolly, our llama. Just for those that don't know, Bandit and Dolly are bestest friends, they lay next to each other and just love each other. Well I noticed that Dolly wasn't in the barn, not too surprising because she likes to eat the grass in the morning. Well I decided that I wanted to see Bandit and Dolly together, because they are just so cute together, so I went out into the pasture and saw Dolly laying on her side. Dead. We have no idea what happened, she had no wounds, nothing suspicious. When we got in I told mom and she called dad so that he could come help bury her. So we spent the whole morning and part of the afternoon digging a full grown llama sized hole in the ground. Not the best way to start off the day.
Nothing notable happened for the rest of the day. At youth group we started the Row Leaders thing, or rather my sister and I started, it officially started last week but me and sis missed the last big meeting for it. Now I've told ya'll about the Row Leaders before, we need to keep track of the kids in our row and try to get them to listen and pay attention and all that. Well in our row was a few ornery little boys, about thirteen maybe, and a girl probably the same age that didn't feel like listening. My row partner decided he was going to completely take over the duties, and I didn't really feel like arguing last night so I let him. Next week though I'm going to make sure I pull my share of the weight and he doesn't just take it all. I don't really like confronting people, especially people like him that just want to do their own thing thing and don't like to be questioned, but I am a Row Leader too and need to be doing my share.

On a brighter note, when we did barn chores this morning nothing was dead. And we found that one of the wild barn cats of ours is getting friendlier. Hope you all are having a good day!

Sore Both Ways

What a crazy day!
So I go out to do barn chores this morning and find the cute little chick that has been alive for no more than a day or two laying on the chicken coop floor. I pick it up, thinking it is dead, and find out that it is still breathing, but has no reflexes at all. I bring it in, keep it warm, and it dies in my hands. What a lovely way to start the day off, no?
I also found out that I won't be able to visit my friend tomorrow after all and that she wouldn't be able to make it to the 4-H meeting tonight.
Then I moved on to school, which went pretty well... did a synopsis on my novel, which turned out okay I guess, but I dislike summaries and synopsis and such. After a bit of school I did my marathon training, which was to walk and run two miles. I started having problems with my heart. It hurt and my pulse rate spiked up. Heart problems run on my mom's side of the family so I slowed it down and walked the two miles. Mom says she thinks I was probably just pushing too hard. I sure hope that is it.
After that it got a bit better, went to my voice lesson, which ended up being with my teacher's daughter because my teacher had to go to her mom because her mom is not doing well (if ya'll could be in prayer for her that'd be great by the way) but I found she was a very good teacher. After a few warm-ups we worked on "Never Alone" by BarlowGirl, working mostly on dynamics and breathing with my diaphragm. She even put the background CD on the main speakers and I got to sing with a microphone, which scared me a little but was rather exhilarating.
Then we went home and got ready for the 4-H meeting. I couldn't find my secretary folder so I had to print out new minutes and write up a new roll call sheet. The meeting was rather crazy and confusing, I mean more than usual. There was a tasty made-from-scratch cake that was very yummy though...
During the meeting I started getting physically sore from my marathon training and all, which is of course to be expected but it doesn't make it any more pleasant. Now I'm winding down, enjoying being able to sit down while it is... well... fairly quiet, and relax.

Birthdays and Singing and Chicks Oh My!

About time I posted again eh?
Well... my youngest brother had a birthday, we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner with our great grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousin. Then everyone came over to our house for some chocolate swirl cheesecake and chocolate ice cream that mom made. Mmmmmm.... He got some Nerf guns for his birthday so we had fun chasing each other around the house shooting at and getting hit and falling over dramatically. He is playing with those guns right now.
Saturday was a rather big day. First we woke up early, something hard to do since I stayed up pretty late the night before, did barn chores and headed over to help at the food pantry. At ten I had to leave for the tryouts with the voice worship team. That went pretty good I think... filled out a form, listened to the worship leader talk about what being a member of the voice team would entail, then had private tryouts. There were three people to try out including me, a man and a lady. The man went first and did marvelously, then I went. I sang Amazing Grace several times in front of four people, three of which I knew slightly. I sang it once with the lady playing the piano up, so they could see how high I could reach, then sang it down so they could see how low I could reach, then sang with an alto so they could see how well I could sing with a lower voice. When I came out the lady who was waiting said that I sounded very nice. Then she went and did well too. There is another tryout Monday for those who didn't make it on Saturday, so I'll be find out if I made it sometime after Monday but within the week.
Just went out to do barn chores, and guess what we found out there? A BABY CHICK!! Our hens were sitting, but we didn't know when the chicks were due, but we know now! I am really happy.
I also saw the sunset tonight, the sun had just gone down completely, but it was still shining on the sky, making it light pink. There were some darker clouds so it looked like water and islands. I love to look at sunsets, they never fail to amaze me.

Keep Running!

My brother's birthday is tomorrow! He's going to be eleven. Yay for my little bro!
I'm getting ready to go running in a minute. I'm enjoying it, especially now that my soreness has just about worn off. I'm gonna be bringing along our mean old German Shepherd mix dog, Penny, and the cellphone. Hehe, Penny wouldn't let anyone touch me, once someone came over for dinner or something, and we were playing with puppets. He reached over and grabbed my puppet (which was on my hand), I squealed, and Penny jumped up growling, looking about ready to tear the guy up if he didn't back off. She's a good dog, but getting fat too so that is one reason I'm taking her on my run.
Our van broke again and we're waiting for it to get fixed. I think it was the distributer that went out this time.
It has been pretty cool here, in the 70s today! Whoo! Still can't wait for the 50s and 60s... I was watching our hummingbird eating from the feeder earlier, they are such amazing birds!
So.... nothing else going on here. Have a good day!

Sick and Sore

Posted in Song Lyrics
I didn't know I'd be this sore from marathon training! Monday and Tuesday I'm supposed to run and do T-tap, then I'm supposed to have a rest day, so today I'm taking a much needed rest. I am sore everywhere, and I'm getting a headache, which is how mom's sickness started. So I'm glugging EmergenC and Echinachea to try and head it off.
I finished reading "The House That Cleans Itself" today! So I'm done with all reading for this block! I may do some extra so that I'll finish all reading early, then again I might just enjoy the short reprieve.
The kitten is doing well, just as feisty as ever.
I shall be trying out to be in the worship vocalist team at church either Saturday or Sunday, I'm really hoping everything will go well with that.
Well.... there isn't much else going on... school is going good... the One Year Adventure Novel is going good... singing practice is going good...
This post is way too short still though, so I'm going to post the lyrics to a song! I don't think I've done this one, if I have I'll change the lyrics.

Reason to Live by Zoegirl
What is the meaning of life?
I've asked myself so many times
Is there a reason I'm here?
I wish someone would make it clear
'Cause I'm living from day to day, feeling so far away
Maybe I'm not as sane as I thought
Keeping my eyes on You is something I've gotta do
Even when I don't feel like it

I won't give up, I won't give in
I'm ready for my life to start again
I won't back down, I'll stand my ground
The time is now to show the love I've found
I've got a reason to breathe, I've got the freedom to stand
The future is mine, I'll give it all I can
To break down the walls that hold me in
It's my reason to live

My reason to wake up every day and bless Your name
In the crush of this crazy messed up world
Only You have stayed the same
I know I have a place here in amazing grace
Forever safe, forever sound
Time after time I see You are the best in me
You're everything I'm chasing after

Listen as the walls fall down
Hear the nations calling out

^One of my favorites.^

A Great Visit

My aunt's visit went well! She arrived Friday afternoon, we had lunch with her at the Chinese buffet down the road. (mmm...) Then we went home and did this and that until dinner, which was Chicken Salad, during dinner we watched "Our Mutual Friend" for movie night. We watched half of it, or rather they watched half of it, I went to bed around nine thirty since we would have to wake up early the next day. They got to bed at about... ten thirty I think?
The next day we went to the food pantry, nothing exciting happened there, besides getting sent home with a great big sheet cake, tons of cranberry orange muffins, biscuits, and whole wheat bread dough. So we made baked some whole wheat bread and had sandwiches for lunch. After that we went geocaching. We had to stop by Best Buy though because our GPS had been left in the van and the van was at the shop being fixed. So they went into Best Buy and found a GPS while me and my sister went into Petsmart and looked at all the dogs and cats that were there for adoption day. After that dad had to figure out how to use the new GPS, once he did we started out, but found that the road we had to take was closed and the bridge was out! So we had to cut all the way around. Then we headed off. This one was a multi-cache, which means there are more than one caches you have to find. There were just two in this one. We found the first one no problem, then dad had to figure out how to get the new coordinates in. He did though and soon we were tramping down a path that was booby trapped with thousands of spider webs! Dad, my sister, and my youngest brother went in front wacking them down while we followed at a safe distance. We walked for a good while, then found that we had passed it up and so we backtracked most of the path. Then we went off of the path and waded through nettles... note to self-- do not wear sandals to geocaches anymore... We found the cache though! So we headed out happy. While we were looking for the cache I found a four leaf clover! And on the way back to the van we saw a Velvet Ant! No, no one touched it. Then we went to Chilis for dinner, went home, and watched the last of "Our Mutual Friend", staying up until about ten thirty.
The next day we went to church, went to Sonic for lunch, and then dropped my aunt off at the airport. We just barely got her there on time! Then we went and got ice cream to cheer everyone up and went to the park to enjoy the nice day.

Oh! While at Chilis we got to watch the beginning of the Womans' Marathon in the Olympics, and it inspired me. I'm going to start training to run a marathon! I went online and found a really good website for beginning marathon runners: click here. I have to be able to run 30 minutes without stopping before I can even start the training program! So I'm gonna start practicing on the treadmill and I'll have to start eating just a little different... my poor sweet tooth...

While Waiting...

Posted in Song Lyrics
Oh my, I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted an entry!! Okay... really there isn't much to talk about, so this will probably be a fairly short post.
The biggest thing at the moment is that my aunt that I haven't seen in about seven years is coming!!! We've been cleaning the house, the barn, and doing school, so we have been pretty busy. Dad has gone to pick my aunt up at the airport, they're probably on their way home right now. I'm pretty excited!
School has been going good, hit a wall with my novel but dad helped me get past it so I'll be moving forward again on Monday. I'm currently writing up a page on each of the characters, doing an outline, and also just writing down info that I need to have on paper. I have finished reading "Peace Child", which was very interesting, and will be finishing my other books within the next few days. "Crime and Punishment" has turned out to be very... interesting I guess would be the right word. Can't say it is one of my favorites but it is full of twists and turns. "How Should We Then Live" and "Story of the Constitution" have both been, well, pretty boring to put it plainly. There were a couple chapters in the former that I enjoyed a bit more but mostly I found it to be like math, I understand it pretty well when I read it but I forget what I read the minute I put the book down! So mom is going to have me watch the videos to it, hopefully that'll get it to stick.
I found out who the artist of one of my favorite songs is! "Fly Away" is by FFH. FFH stands for 'far from home', there was already a band named that so they just used the initials. Since I don't have much else to say I'll just post the lyrics to that song:

Fly Away by FFH
Ok you win, you caught me day dreaming again
About our sudden evacuation
Ok I give in, I can't help but wondering
But it seems I can't get enough information

Curiosity has got a hold on me
Tell me how it's gonna be - when
One day I'll see you coming back for me
And all together we'll fly away
One day I'll hear that trumpet loud and clear
And all together we'll fly away
O how I long for the day
When we'll fly away

Don't ask me why I keep starin' at the sky
It's just I'm lost in anticipation
I know it will be in the twinkling of an eye
It's just I get lost in my imagination

Lots of Company

Meeting my internet, now real life, friend went well. We walked into McDonalds and at first I didn't see them, and got scared that they had left because we were about... ten minutes late? But then I recognized my friend, then her mom. We had a good time chatting, at first we were pretty quiet, then we started getting warmed up to each other and we chatted a little better. We're hoping to get together again soon at our house, have a tea-time or something like that.
This Saturday our grandma is coming over, she lives a little ways from here and has never been to our house before.
Then next weekend my aunt from New York is coming, very exciting because I haven't seen her for years!! So lots going on this and next week.
Also, me and my sister are gonna be having a Row Leaders meeting Sunday, it is the last big meeting before we start the Row Leaders ministry. I'm a little nervous still but I think I'm ready.
Our poor skinny little kitten is doing much better, she has gained weight and will be getting spayed shortly. 'Till then she'll be staying in the house with us, and I'm enjoying that time because I love having a kitty in the house.

I've Been Thinking....

Yeah, I know, dangerous title, eh?
But really, I have been thinking, isn't is strange that most times God doesn't really start working in a life until you give up control?
I've been really stubborn with deciding what I want for my life, I wanted to be a singer, in a band, and I wanted things to start moving now. Really, I told myself, why wouldn't God me want to sing for Him? What problem would He have with it? That is what I thought, and I stuck to that way of thinking for some time. Nothing was really happening, and I wasn't really feeling that I was doing what I was supposed to be doing.
Finally I decided to let go, I told God that I was indeed His, and that I wanted to do what He wants me to do. I was finally willing to let go of being a singer if I had to. Then guess what happened?
God started moving and working! ( surprise, surprise! -eyeroll- )
I had been wanting voice lessons, so that I could better use my voice, but it had been impossible for me to because of the price. When I let God take the wheel, He made a way for me to have lessons. He poured inspiration on me and I began getting ideas for songs, after being barren of ideas for so long.
Now it seems He is moving again! At church there was an insert in the bulletin saying that the worship team wanted to put together a singing band to work with them in worship! Tryouts are going to be held on the 23rd and the 25th, I'll have to sing Amazing Grace, so I'm starting to practice that now.

But sadly, along with growth, comes tests. Bingley, our big lovable Great Dane, died Saturday. We were cleaning the house, and I looked out the window to see Bingley laying in the shade. Thinking he was asleep I went to let him in because it was so hot that day. He didn't move when I called, so me and mom went out to see if he was just asleep, but already knew he was dead. It was one of those moments where everything feels like a dream. I went inside, bawled my eyes out on my sister's pillow, then just sat, wondering why on earth Bingley had had to die. He was only three!
I've reconciled myself to the fact that he is gone now, it needed to happen sooner or later. It was just extra hard since he was the first dog that we've had die with us. We think that he either died of bloat, or that there was something wrong with him because he had been losing hair and he was a little on the thin side (we had taken him to the vet but the vet had said that it was normal for Great Danes to be thin).

Another Busy Week Coming Right Up!

So, VBS starts tomorrow! They are doing a "Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" theme, so I should show up to help dressed as a pirate! Fun!
Besides VBS, which will be running from 8:30 to noon, I'm going to meet a friend that I met over the internet. Turned out she lives about five, ten minutes away, goes to the same Wal-mart that we do, and is in the same homeschool e-mail list as us! We are absolute twins, though she's a bit younger than me, besides that though we are identical in mind! We both love music, singing, playing instruments, writing (songs and stories), reading, we both like cooler weather we both dislike the summer with its heat, we both like swimming a lot, love animals, we both hate math, I haven't found anything that we aren't alike in. So I'm excited about actually meeting her!
Oh, the youth group's canoe trip was cancelled do to lack of interest. I was so disappointed, but there it is.
We took the wild mama cat that has had four litters of kittens in our barn to be spayed, along with her latest two kittens that are left. One, Smudge, ended up being too small so we brought her back home. She's the runt and weighs less than two pounds so we're going to keep her inside for a couple of weeks, feed her canned food, and fatten her up a bit. I washed her, to keep her from making mom sneeze, trimmed her front claws, to keep her from scratching up the furniture (much better than declawing) and now she is perched on the couch, enjoying the commanding view. Hehe, she's so cute. She has the biggest eyes. Now she's going over to visit my brother, she is SO friendly!

ColmanBlue update! Chrissy posted a new blog entry on their myspace page, and they are going to be having more concerts! In Tennessee of course, to my immense annoyance. =) I wish I either lived in Tennessee, or they started having their concerts here. They don't have their website up yet, but I'm impatiently waiting for it to be up since I don't have a myspace account and can't cheer them on from there or look at the pictures that are only for members.
Okay people, comment!!

-dies of exhaustion-

The fair is over at last. It is really a lot of fun, but it makes things so crazy that everyone is glad when it is over and not going to come again for another year. So... I'll tell you how things went for the last few fair days!

Wednesday morning was the rabbit show, which everyone forgot about. Mom and dad got up but let us kids sleep in, thinking that nothing was going on. My sister and one brother got up before me and my younger brother. When I woke up and looked at the clock we needed to be leaving in ten minutes! I jumped up, got dressed and ran out of my room. Things turned crazy with just two sentences, "Where's (my brother)? His rabbit show is this morning!" We did make it in time for him to show, and he got a blue. I did showmanship with his bunny and also got a blue, scoring just three points away from the winner! I just do rabbit showmanship once a year, at every fair, so I was very surprised. And I didn't even do rabbit showmanship last year at all! Very surprising. I was supposed to help out at the dairy goat show, but completely forgot about it until today. Oops!

Thursday was another early morning, I got up at six so I could finish shaving Dolly, the llama, then we loaded her into our van and got her to the fair. I did an obstacle course with her, which she wasn't impressed with, and got a red. The course had weave poles, hay bales to jump (some of the llamas decided they wanted to snack on them instead of jump them), a mirror (which Dolly took one look in and freaked out when she saw herself), a bridge, a rope to walk under, a small space that we had to walk into then I had to back her out, then a stretch where I had to make her trot. For the llama showmanship we got a blue, best in class, and best in show! I was very happy and surprised since it was my first time ever showing a llama. For the costume contest I dressed her up like an Arab and got a blue.
After the llama showing I got to help at the 4-H food stand. I was an in between girl, running orders to the right windows, and filling in for my sister and brother when they went running off. Their jobs were to make nachos and hotdogs. It was pretty fun.
For dog agility me and Maddy did agility 1B (which is off-lead) for the second time and got Grand Champion with a purple. So we are planing on going to the state fair!

Friday was the project auction, I sold my gingersnap cookies in a pretty basket with some tea and candies. It sold for $40.
Today we picked up our premiums. Premiums are the money that you get for the ribbons that you earned. Blue and purple are $4, red is $3, and white is $2. In the livestock though the ribbons have higher prices, blue and purple being $8, red $5, and white $3! I made $54 dollars in ribbons.

So, that is it! And I am happy with how everything went.

Taking A Breath

Well now, haven't had much time to type out a proper entry, so hopefully I'll have time to do one now!
Things are still busy, but today was a little less crazy than it was yesterday or the day before, and also less crazy than it will be tomorrow or the day after.
First of all, the house-sitting went fine, though tiring. My grandparents live about thirty minutes away, and we were back and forth a lot. We have our menagerie of animals to take care of, plus their variety animals. We camped out for three nights in a row, the temperature staying stubbornly in the 90s, and even being hot at night. So I spent three nights on the hard ground, sweating, and nearly having a heart attack at every strange sound.

My sister's birthday was on Saturday. We woke up early, ate breakfast and got ready to go home and to the fair, there was a pet and cat show that day. Mom and my older brother (not older than me but older than my other brother) stayed at our grandparents house, we were house-sitting if you'll remember, so that mom could make my sister's cake and get things ready for her birthday celebration. Dad and my sister went and got hay for the hay munching goats while me and my younger brother went to the show. I showed Sage, my white kitty that has a couple little grey spots, and my agouti berkshire rat, Creeper. Sage got a blue and Creeper got a purple. Then we went home, mowed the lawn, and relaxed.

We finished house-sitting on Sunday. We packed up everything that morning, well, everything but the tent, then ran home to drop some of it off, and then ran to church. The fair is going on this week as I said before, and Sunday was the showmanship and obedience dog show. My sister got a white in obedience, my brother got a white in obedience and a blue in showmanship, and I got a purple in showmanship and Grand Champion with a blue in obedience. Now me and Madison (my dog for those of you who don't frequent my blog) can move up to the next level in obedience! Me and Maddy also tied for Reserve Champion in showmanship. It was pretty weird, we did the usual stuff, showed off our dogs, and then we did some extra showing. We were dismissed for a while, I thought for good, but then me and three other dogs were called back into the ring for a tie breaker. I still placed third out of all of the dogs though!
We also had friends over Monday. They came to watch us show our dogs, then they came home with us to watch Thr3e and eat BBQ sandwiches. We didn't get to sleep until about eleven o'clock.

So... Monday. Monday we woke up at seven having to make our cookies for the food show still. Me and my sister got to the kitchen first and we had fun making Gingersnaps and Peanut Butter Cookies at the same time. It was nuts. We got my sister's cookies in first, then I popped mine in. When the timer went off I ran over to take them out, looked on the stove and saw a bowl of flour mixture. Then it hit me; I had forgotten to add the flour and spices to my cookies!!! After I finished my cookies my brother made Pizelles. I was also busy getting mine and my sister's pictures ready to go because the art show was at the same time as the food show. We all got blues on our cookies and me and sister both got purples on our drawings. My drawing was a picture of Madison when she was a puppy and I dressed her up in a baby doll dress. My sister's was of Abraham Lincoln. When we got home I got our fiber art stuff ready and we left again, me and my sister did anyways. Sister showed a macramι necklace and got a blue. I showed my crochet beret and cloche and got a purple for both. When we got home from that I got out the hair scissors and started trimming Dolly, the llama. I got a nice blister on my middle finger from them but I did finish her. Yesterday was also rabbit check-in, my brother is showing his lionhead and I'm doing showmanship with him.
On top of all this craziness, the air conditioner died in the morning, and the weather outside was in the 100s!

Today was no where near as crazy as yesterday. We went to the fairgrounds to give my brother's rabbit an ice bottle so he doesn't overheat and drop off forms so that each of us can auction one of our projects. I washed Dolly and will hopefully be shaving part of her today and finish her tomorrow. Oh! Had my very first voice lesson!! Not a whole lesson but just a get-to-know you thing. She talked to me and mom then found my voice range. She thinks I'm probably a second soprano, a low soprano. I couldn't sing very high for her but she thinks it might be a confidence thing, she thinks that once I build some confidence I'll be able to sing higher because I won't be to nervous to try. She gave me some voice exercises and told me to pick a couple pieces to sing next time. Yes! Next time is next Tuesday at three.
I got an electrical shock for the first time ever, very strange. I was walking in basement, bumped the end of an extension cord that was partly plugged into a fan (which was NOT on by the way) and received a rather unpleasant shock. The strange thing is that I didn't realize it was a shock for a moment. I though had just gotten my toe stuck on something, but when I looked back I saw that there was no way I could have gotten caught on it. -shiver- Very very creepy. I unplugged the extension cord so hopefully no one else will get shocked. It hurt! And my toe felt weird for a little while afterwards. 0.o
We did get the air conditioner fixed thankfully, so we are no longer sweating inside. Ahhh... the wonders of AC.

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.
