• August 1, 2008 - Painting and Drawing

After a long break from watercolors, I needed to jump back in. Its a fairly small painting, and to my delight it actually turned out kinda cute. I wanted to post some parts of it here on the Drawing Blog to show you that drawing does not need to be complex.

Even very simple drawings can be pleasing to the eye as well as fun to draw. Something doesn't have to look just like a photograph. If everyone drew like a camera, how would we all show our different feelings and personalities? Don't let the "rules" of drawing trap or limit  you.

Hello, I have just recently discovered your blog, and I really like it! I have always liked drawing, but never really had the opportunity to take lessons and learn how to really get good at it. But, my daughters are really good artists, and I am hoping to help them hone their skills. So I have linked you to my blog and plan to visit often (BTW, thought you'd like to know, you spelled "past-times" wrong) : ) I am a spelling and grammar geek, sorry!

What a wonderful style you have - I just love it!
If you don't mind me asking, what pens do you use for inking? Also, if you could do a tutorial on some of the techniques you use when drawing with pens, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have the time, of course.

In Christ,
MH

That is an amazing painting. I am sure you will be able to illustrait children's books easily. I like drawing too, but I am not as good at drawing and painting as you are! Oh, well, as I'm only thirteen and your about seventeen I MIGHT be able to get half as good as you by practise when I'm older. Why don't you visit my blog sometime? I drew some pictures of houses on paint. I've been drawing the latest house. It took me a whole week to draw on paint, I had to consentrate really hard on the immense detail, I tried to make it as real looking as possible, even drawing the inside of the windows and the ivy growing up the walls. It is good if you're a writer and can be able to draw good pictures of the scenes of your stories as you really imagine them to look like. I understand how much time and patience it takes to draw and paint like that. I think it is a very good idea that you put the copyright breezytulip OVER the actual picture, be cause that means that no one can copy it easily and pretend THEY did it. I hate it when people get like that. Atleast HSB is a safer blogger site, I'll put the picture of the house that took me a week to draw on paint on the computer on my blog soon.

Hello!
I jsaw that the picture of the girls making ginerbread cookies in my book and it was 'me and my sisters' is what me and my mom said. I was getting the pie out of the oven, my older sis stiring batter, my younger sis coming with the eggs, and my sweet littler sis helping momma.
And I was wondering if there is anyway I could get the hole picture for my parents???
Thanks,,, Kathleen.
