I have had an Xbox360 for 2 to 3 years now and had three repairs made. Repair #4, the console came up with a "disk read error" so we made arrangements with Xbox tech support and sent it to them via next day. We received the console back in approx. 4 or 5 days with the machine un-repaired and with a lengthy note stating possible reasons for console not being repaired. The machine when it left our hands would turn on power up, etc., however it would not read a game disk. When it returned it would not power up but instead had 2 green flashing lights then it would flash 2 red flashing lights, over and over and over.
FYI, the third repair to the console was due to nothing on the screen, we contacted Microsoft and got a estimate cost of repairs, then called a local independant repair company and they were very knowledgable and less expensive (but not a "Microsoft authorized repair center"), not only did they repair the machine but installed a larger internal fan to keep the unit cooler to keep form having this happen again. Loose chip due to system overheating, no big deal!
We contacted Microsoft via 1-800-4MY-XBOX immediately, they stated that they did not tamper with the console! Microsoft stated that due to tampering of the console, it voids the warranty of the console and they will not make any repairs to the console. However they could not explain why it now was flashing lights. So we took it to our local independant repair center, they state they have never seen the lights flash like this. The next day I received an email stating that Microsoft has recoded the console and that repairs to the console could not be performed and to contact Microsoft to see what the options were. So I did, and not luck, they dont know of any codes or nothing. I called the local repair center, spoke to the owner, the owner stated that he had made contact with employees of a local "Microsoft Service Center", which he used to work at, and it was stated that when the service centers receive a console that has been equiped with "modified firm ware", they will recode the console rendering it un-repairable. They also stated that essentially they made a mistake in recoding our console because it does not have modified firm ware!
So I contact a Microsoft "supervisor" once again. It is stated to me by Jen K. (this is the only information I could get from this person) that any repairs or modifications made to the console not only voids the warranty but here it goes, No One Is To Make Repairs To The Console Except For Microsoft!!! But gee she also states that there is no code!
Heres where I am at, I have a unrepairable four time broken down piece of blinking crud that no one can fix, and a manufacturer that will not back there excessively poor designed lemon of a gaming system.
Has anyone else had this issue, does anyone know how to repair the system or to beat Microsofts protocol so I can get the console fixed?
For the record I do not recommend to anyone to purchase and Xbox360, it will cost you alot of $$, time, patience, and getting lied to by Microsoft!
I will continue to voice this position against Microsoft until this situation is remodied, count on it!!!
