The Heart of the Home

The Heart of the Home seeks to equip women as they study God's Word and encourage them to treasure God with all of their heart (Matt 6:19-21), and guard their heart (Prov. 4:23), by recognizing that they are the heart of the home.

Our special treat

We had a special treat today here.

Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life among others), was here on our post.  Wow!  He has been spending some time in South Korea for his 40 Days of Purpose Campaign.   Some S. Koreans visited his church in June and asked him to come to speak...even in N. Korea!  Though the trip to N. Korea has been postponed for obvious reasons, he accepted and has been on a tour of Asia, and this past week, S. Korea.  If you go to his blog, you can find out more about his trip here and stayed tuned to see his personal notes from his visit here.

He was the speaker for the annual Post Prayer Breakfast and it was incredible.  There was a large turnout and his words were so inspiring.  Probably one of the most memorable moments is when we looked and saw him literally walking through the gym, shaking hands, posing for pictures, and talking with people.  The genuine care and love for each and every one of us showed through.  As he would come to each person, he would look them in the eye and speak right to them, not a general statement, but something personal.  To each and every person.  As fallible humans, it is so easy to get caught up in fame and fortune.  Rick Warren is definitely different.

Fox News was also here, so if you are able, tune into Fox News sometime between 3pm and 10pm Saturday (and maybe even Sunday night).  One of our Chaplain's Assistants was interviewed.

Consider going by Rick Warren's blog as well as his other websites.

I know, for me, hearing his words about finding purpose in life and hearing his inspiring stories has refreshed me.  I think that as I ponder our first official year in homeschooling, rediscovering and "revising" my role as a wife and mother, and discovering this additional role in writing, his words couldn't have been more timely.

Rick Warren, thank you.  You inspired many, you showed Christ's love in a tangible way.

That is a rare thing...
So many times when someone reaches a "celebrity" status, their focus becomes maintaining that status. It's wonderful that the Christian community of is starting to have different star power. Thank you for sharing about Rick's blog, I'm sure it will be a blessing...

God Bless,
Jessica

I'm so glad you were able to uplifted by him! Sometimes we need a little heat to rekindle our fire for God. Sometimes we don't even realize we need it. We just get a good surprise! :)

Your comment brought a smile and a laugh right when I needed it! Thank you!
I had the house to myself for a while today. I am very much into music, and always have a different kind playing - often at the same time in each room. But today I had silence in the house. No music! And I loved it. Silence is golden. I know I'll miss DD's chatter one day. :)

GODSPEED
by Edmund Blair Leighton (1900)

In medieval times, a knight wore the colors of his lady when competing in tournaments or going to battle. The knight would replace his coat of arms with the lady's colors. By offering a scarf or other small piece of clothing, it was one visible way a lady showed her devotion to her knight and also encouraged him. This went along with one of the knightly vows of protecting a lady and her interests, even unto death. This painting represents this medieval tradition. I choose this as a representation of my blog for all the military wives who send their knight-husbands to work each day, send them to the field for training, or see their husbands deploy . My blog will have some of my personal thoughts on our own journey of homeschooling or other insights or encouragements I have the leading to share. My prayers are with each and every one of you who visit my blog.
