The Heart of the Home

The Heart of the Home seeks to equip women as they study God's Word and encourage them to treasure God with all of their heart (Matt 6:19-21), and guard their heart (Prov. 4:23), by recognizing that they are the heart of the home.

Another school year!

I honestly can't believe it.  Here we stand on the threshold of a new year!  It will be my third of 'official' homeschooling.  I am so excited.  I can't wait to start.  I have our curriculum and as per last year, God has revealed to me His plans for our home school.  I think most of those early years jitters are moving on and I feel more confident in myself this year.

Maybe I am also excited since I mostly have the house put together and have our schoolroom together and organized.  Finally.  Whew!  It has been quite a move.  I am also excited because I have already met some wonderful fellow homeschoolers here and have a dear friend and fellow former college roomie that lives nearby who also homeschools.  It is going to be a good year.  God has blessed us so much through and in this move.

How about all of you?  Are you as excited as I am?  What are you looking forward to?  Anyone having those jitters?

We are going into the 3rd grade, so that would be our 5th year homeschooling (we did PreK too). :-) No jitters, just anxious to get started and get with the program! My family is happier when we're on a schedule-- and our lessons provide us with the routine that we NEED.

I have most of my books but I still need to sit down with the calendar and put it all together. We will hopefully be starting VERY soon.

Happy second year, my friend! It IS exciting, isn't it?

Love,
Marsha

Hello, Janet.

Hard to believe, but I just now saw your comment from last July. At least, I think I haven't seen it before... if I answered it then, I don't remember!

Of course I would love to have you add me to your friends list, and I'd be happy to do the same!

I've been away from blogging since Christmas, but am getting back into the network of mutual support again!

Hugs,
Jean (Hallmark)

I'm excited and jittery... :)
I feel like I have finally come into my own as a homeschooling momma (after 7 years!) but I still have a little tiny case of the jitters. I always worry about math, since it isn't my strongest subject. But God took care of it and directed me to Teaching Textbooks, so I think that is covered now. Yay! :)

GODSPEED
by Edmund Blair Leighton (1900)

In medieval times, a knight wore the colors of his lady when competing in tournaments or going to battle. The knight would replace his coat of arms with the lady's colors. By offering a scarf or other small piece of clothing, it was one visible way a lady showed her devotion to her knight and also encouraged him. This went along with one of the knightly vows of protecting a lady and her interests, even unto death. This painting represents this medieval tradition. I choose this as a representation of my blog for all the military wives who send their knight-husbands to work each day, send them to the field for training, or see their husbands deploy . My blog will have some of my personal thoughts on our own journey of homeschooling or other insights or encouragements I have the leading to share. My prayers are with each and every one of you who visit my blog.
