The Heart of the Home

The Heart of the Home seeks to equip women as they study God's Word and encourage them to treasure God with all of their heart (Matt 6:19-21), and guard their heart (Prov. 4:23), by recognizing that they are the heart of the home.

Elvis has left the building

Well DH has begun his deployment and we have begun our countdown.  As I write this they are on their way to their destination.  It is kind of ironic yet honorable that they leave on Veteran's Day.  We got to spend most of the day together yesterday and then got to "hang out" in his office for several hours last night before DS and I headed home to catch a few winks.   I got to meet a lot of the soldiers I hadn't gotten to meet yet.  Got to watch their reactions to DH and how much they seem to enjoy and care for him.  This was so much better than the last deployment.  Last time, I dropped DH off in a parking lot at 2:30 am on a cold November morning.  That November morning was the day before Thanksgiving.  This time we had lots of time together.  It was so much fun and it really made saying goodbye so much easier.

I truly cannot complain.  We have been so blessed that this is only our second deployment.  We have friends that are on their 3rd, 4th, or even 5th deployment.  Some have only been together a few months out of the last 2-3 years.  So I count my blessings.  Will we miss DH?  Yes.  Deeply and profoundly.  He is a wonderful husband and father.  But in my heart I know those soldiers need him more than I do.  Christ is my first Husband and God can be to DS what DS needs in a Father.  I am so glad those soldiers have my husband.  Yes there will be hard days and times when we really want "Daddy."  But he is doing Kingdom work and that is more needful.

We spent some time together as a family and DH and I got away for an overnight trip to the mountains last week.  This week was a blur of activity basically.  We did give DS one Christmas gift before Daddy left and did have some fun together.  We also got some things done in and around the house.

Please pray for his unit and all our troops.  Our soldiers and their families need our prayers.  Pray specifically for our unit.  So many young people serving so selflessly makes me proud.

Before I go, I will share some photos of our last couple of weeks together.  It was priceless to share each and every moment together.

Be Blessed
My 2 brothers are currently deployed and have wives and babies here at home...my heart goes out to you. I truly do believe they are doing what they were called to do, and that's what helps me get through deployments (about 2 a year for about 4 years now). Take care...

What great pictures! I'm teary-eyed just looking at them.

What a blessing to be able to give such a fantastic early Christmas gift AND for daddy to teach him to ride! Very cool.

I will be praying for all of y'all-- for God to encourage, strengthen, comfort and just BLESS you, your son and your brave husband. Tell him the Drews family says THANK YOU for his sacrifice. And thank YOU for yours!

Lots of love,
Marsha

seperated at birth
Well, since it seems we were joined at the hip and separated at birth, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I can still remember those days of separation from my DH and how hard it was on DS. We pray for him, and all of ya'll. Keep your mind on the things above and it will keep your priorities in order and lift your spirits... which in turn will help DS and DH. Please let me know if there is anything we can do for ya'll.
Love, your 'sis'

GODSPEED
by Edmund Blair Leighton (1900)

In medieval times, a knight wore the colors of his lady when competing in tournaments or going to battle. The knight would replace his coat of arms with the lady's colors. By offering a scarf or other small piece of clothing, it was one visible way a lady showed her devotion to her knight and also encouraged him. This went along with one of the knightly vows of protecting a lady and her interests, even unto death. This painting represents this medieval tradition. I choose this as a representation of my blog for all the military wives who send their knight-husbands to work each day, send them to the field for training, or see their husbands deploy . My blog will have some of my personal thoughts on our own journey of homeschooling or other insights or encouragements I have the leading to share. My prayers are with each and every one of you who visit my blog.
