I'm so excited I won Heidi's e card contest!!! If you've read my previous post...Heidi at Reviews by Heidi was hosting a contest for a 3 free memberships to this amazing ecard site Ojolie and I won one of them! I NEVER WIN ANYTHING!!!! I am going to take full advantage of this free membership...I've already sent 3 ecards this morning! Go check out this site...membership is $10 for a year...even if you can't have a free membership that is still a reasonable price, and I think it would be well worth it. While visiting over at my bloggy friend Heidi at Reviews by Heidi I found that she was hosting a contest to win a free membership to a unique ecard site (normal membership is $10 a year) called Ojolie. You can enter two ways...posting a comment to her post, and to post about the contest on your own blog and linking back to her. I enjoy using ecards...and this ecard site would even be worth the $10 membership fee...the artwork is absolutely beautiful! But if you are like me, and would like the chance to win a free membership to this ecard site be sure to go to Heidi's blog and post a comment and blog about it on your own blog!

My bloggy friend Mary Beth at Avonlea Academy also had this tag on her blog...all about Fall Favorites. And even tho here in Florida there isn't a "Fall" season to speak of...being originally from New Hampshire I felt qualified to play along. Feel free to join me in this little Fall survey - just let me know if you post your answers on your blog so I can check them out! Have FUN! 1. Favorite Fall Smell? fall scented candles...(especially Yankee Candles mmm!) such as Spiced Pumpkin Macintosh Apple or Vanilla Caramel. I also love the smell of Cinnamon Broom! 5. Favorite Treat? right now a real treat would be a nice crisp Cortland apple...but since I'm not in NH there isn't really much chance of having one :-( 9. Favorite Clothing to wear? well don't have much opportunity for a fall wardrobe change in FL...but in NH my favorite would be just a comfy sweatshirt and jeans and cozy socks! 10. Favorite Outdoor Activity? in NH we had a fire pit in our backyard...so having campfires and roasting marshmallow was always fun! 12. Favorite Fall Holiday? Thanksgiving 13. Favorite Haunted place? You know haunted means “frequently visited”? our church seems to be the most frequently visited place lately for us...but back in NH our favorite fall place/event would be the Deerfield Fair, we went every year! Another treat I miss...fried dough and fair fries...mmm yummy! 18. Favorite Fall Sight? the above mentioned Northern Lights... 19. Overall Favorite thing about Fall? since moving to FL my favorite thing about fall is that there is no snow coming!!! But overall, just the homey/family gatherings that come with the fall and holiday season |

I was tagged by my bloggy friend Mary Beth over at Avonlea Academy and I had done one similar to this once before...but it's been a while and so I thought I would do it again...I'm sure I can come up with six more random things about myself...here are the rules...if you happen to be passing thru, feel free to take on the challenge (you don't necessarily have to tag others...but if you do post some randomness about yourself be sure to let me know!) The Rules: 1) I slept 15 hours last night (after a horrible night due to a caffeine incident and coughing fit because of my whooping cough illness) 2) I am going to be in a play in November...Freedom's Journey (based on the book Hind's Feet on High Places)...I am Aunt Dismal Forebodings. I am in 2 scenes and have a total of 5 lines. In my first line I get to forcefully push the main character Much-Afraid into a chair.... 3) I love thrill rides...and since Disney is really the only major parks we've been to...these are my favorites...Expedition Everest, RocknRoller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Mission Space...did I miss any? 4) I have recently become a fan of the tv show HEROES! We had never watched it before and so decided to watch it on Netflix (Intsant on our tv) we had to get caught up on seasons 1 & 2 so we had a marathon weekend just before season 3 started...literally saw the last episode of season 2 a couple hours before the premiere! 5) My family has a generational thing of only girls...My mom was an only child, I was an only child and my daughter is an only child (and obviously all girls duh!)...wonder if Bridgette will have an only girl...whenever the time comes? 6) In the 23 years that I've had my driver's license...I've only been stopped once maybe 6 months after I had my license (got a warning for passing on a rural road...that supposedly had a (faded) double yellow line...I still say there were no lines at all but anyway) and I've only been in one accident (my fault apparently)...where the only damage was a bent license plate...but without going into detals became a major deal with a court trial due to what I'm sure were "fabricated" injuries...needless to say the judge threatened to throw the whole case out...the plaintiff's ended up settling with my insurance co. I'm tagging people...however, please don't feel like you have to partcipate...I understand that we all have better things to do...but if you want to join in I would love to read about your randomness :-) If however you aren't "feeling" this one and would rather participate in the Fall Favorites tag...go right ahead. I won't be offended if you don't So... ReviewsbyHeidi - mommashepherd - carolina - onecrazymom - tlpgina - robinliyn - tag you're it! |

I was visiting my blogging buddy Heidi over at ReviewsbyHeidi and she has a post about her family's upcoming trip to Disney...and specifically about Animal Kingdom. She wanted people to share their Animal Kingdom pictures, favorite things - just anything Animal Kingdom related. So I thought I would participate and share a few of my favorite pics...now AK probably isn't my favorite Disney park, but there are a few things that I enjoy about it. We actually haven't been to Animal Kingdom in a few years not since our annual passes expired (we live a 1/2 hour from Disney)...maybe someday we'll be in a better financial place to have passes again...until then going to Disney is on rare special occasions! So the following pictures are from a couple years ago! One of my favorite AK attractions - the TIGERS!!! They are so beautiful...I am in awe that God made such magnificent creatures!
and then I think of the humor he must have had when making creatures like the Hippo! Doesn't this one look like he's smiling
And even tho this next pic is one of Bridgette's favorites...getting her face painted! Isn't she the cutest! This was taken in Dec of 2005...she was 9 1/2 at the time!
Other AK favorites for me are...The Festival of the Lion King, eating breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe (although I don't have to go to AK to do this...there's one in Downtown Disney too!) and at the top of my list would probably have to be Expedition Everest...because I am a total THRILL ride junkie! As far as tips go...make sure you plan your route...There is a whole lot of walking to be done at AK...and it branches out in a star pattern, so you have to come back to the center most of the time to go to another section of the park (wear good walking shoes!!!). Get FastPasses if you can for the popular stuff. Know that it's very difficult to take pictures on Kilamanjaro Safari. Don't take little kids on the Dinosaur ride...especially if they are at all timid...we made this mistake on our trip in 2001, when Bridgette was only 5 1/2...she was scared out of her mind, and was unsure of almost every ride after that...always saying "I don't know about this ride mommy" And if it's the least bit hot...make sure you drink lots of fluid...water is good, but powerade or gatorade are better - you want to keep from getting dehydrated (we made this mistake too!) Be sure to hop on over to Heidi's blog (click link above) and see what other Disney goodies she has in her Destination Disney post! And don't forget to leave us comments...we love them! |
