Kitties

Posted in Our Kitties

I just had to share about our kitties.  They are too funny.   We have two of them...we adopted from the spca in October...they will be a year old in May.   Their names are Cinnamon (aka Cinnamon Bun or Cinnaminny Kitty) and Heidi (aka Heidikins) both girls.  Cinnamon is black/orange tortoise shell color and Heidi is yellow tabby (like Morris the 9-lives cat ).

Both are amusing but Cinnamon is the feisty one and I thnk she might be OCD !  She has a thing for the printer everytime you print something she comes running from wherever she is in the house to get on the printer and stick her paw into the paper feed and then bite at the papers coming out or the plastic paper tray where the printed paper lands.  She does this without fail everytime!   She also has a thing for trash cans...not the kitchen trash as that's in a cupboard but the other ones in other rooms.  She likes to get things out of them like crumpled paper or tissues...but her favorite trash item by far (when it's available) are the little foil wrappers of mini resees peanut butter cups!  Cinnamon is also a neck kitty...as opposed to a lap kitty...she has to get up as close to you on your neck as she can possibly get and then licks you like there is no tomorrow.  She especially likes to to lick the back of my husband's head in the morning - it's become a regular routine for them!

Heidi on the other hand will be a lap kitty if you pick her up and put her there...but rarely will she come on your lap of her own free will.  In fact she will actually go out of her way to avoid walking over you to get somewhere else.  Heidi started one thing...getting in the fridge...but then passed it on to Cinnamon  who now everytime the fridge is open tries to get in it!  (again I think it's the OCD hee hee)   Heidi has the deepest purr - we call her "the purring machine" - but she rarely ever meows.

It is really interesting how different their personalities are.  It's different having two of them (we used to have 1 cat several years ago his name was Gossamer, after the orange monster from Bugs Bunny - he was totally different from these two!) and we've had to get used to how they relate to each other.  They love to play fight and sometimes it's hard to tell if they are really just playing.  Sometimes we have had to separate them. (hmm, is this what it would have been like if we'd had more than one kid?)   But then other times like in the picture above you'll find them cuddled up with each other!  They have made life fun and we love having them as part of our family!
