Pressing on Toward the Goal: The Incredible Journey

It's been one of those weeks...and now it seems that I can't even type this as Cinnamon (one of the kitties) is trying to help me she wants to type and bite my ring and nudge my fingers as I type. But Bridgette just rescued me!!! Anyway, it started last Sunday - I almost didn't go to church because I was feeling rather yucky (allergies yet again...) but I went anyway. Sunday school hit a nerve, and then it continued into the morning worship service...but I left my "burden" at the alter with the help of some good friends who prayed for me. Or at least I thought I had left it...but apparently I needed to do some more work when I got home...which I did. By the time I left our evening service Sunday night I was doing much better. Monday, my husband stayed home from work to get caught up on some "school" work that he's doing for work...Tuesday was fairly normal. Wednesday afternoon my friends came for our "weekly" get together/prayer time...and then Wednesday night was bible study and a church board meeting (which I needed to attend as clerk). Bible study the last couple of week has been very powerful...we are doing the book of John. These 2 particular weeks we've been studying the Wedding at Cana. There is soooo much within that short passage that none of us had realized was even there before. It truly seems as though God is revealing more and more hidden truths in his word lately...are any of you experiencing this as well? I had always just thought of Jesus changing the water to wine as just the first miracle he performed, and the official beginning of his ministry. However as with most of God's word it went much deeper than that. I will try to collect my notes into something "bloggable" in the near future and post it. Then Thursday came...and with it some trials...Bridgette was going thru a spiritual attack (compounded by a bout of pubescent hormones) dealing with some anger issues and questioning her salvation etc. I got some prayer warriors on it with me and today she seems to be doing much better (but think there is still some work to be done). And Thursday also brought some bad news about our friend's little boy Daniel - that I had mentioned before and asked for prayer for him. He had been doing very well since his surgery, but the rod that was inserted into his back has come loose (unattached) and is causing him pain...plus the fact that it isn't doing it's job when it's not attached. So he is going to go back in surgery on Wednesday the 23rd. So please pray once again for Daniel and his family - they have been through so much, and yet their faith in the Lord has remained, even tho they are weary and hurting. And now it's Friday - and things have gone fairly well today - went to help at food pantry this morning. It's hard with the cost of everything continuing to go up and the food banks that we get food from are running very low and so there isn't much food to give out...we are having to turn people away. Lord have mercy on us...provide an abundance for your people so that we may in turn bless those who don't know you yet and bring them into your kingdom! And now that it's late afternoon and I'm looking around the house and seeing all the clutter and dirty dishes piled up, wondering where this week went and praying for the energy and desire to take care of it all. Yet I'm thanking God for the moments this week that he has spoken to me, shown me truth, given me strength to pray for others, and the ability to share it all with anyone who wants to read my blog. So TGIF...which can have many meanings such as - Thank God It's Friday, Thank God I'm forgiven, Thank God I'm free...and Thank God I'm filled (with the Holy Spirit)! I hope that you have a blessed weekend! Melissa |

Hi, even tho today was my first time doing the whole "Wordless Wednesday" thing...I just can't keep silent about this because God is so awesome. In the post before last (March 19, 2008 Life These Days) I mentioned about little Daniel who had surgery...well we got word that not only did he come thru surgery just fine (with a few little issues - but for the most part everything was great) but the best part is he actually got to come home today! This is such a wonderful blessing for this family...they have truly had a long stressful road up til this point...and not that the road ahead won't have it's battles I'm sure, but for now a major victory has been made in this little boy's life. So if you happened to be by my blog earlier and prayed for Daniel - THANK YOU! I praise God for his life and for the testimony that his family (especially his parents) have been for the Lord! |

There has been lots to blog about lately, and yet I haven't been on to write about any of it. So I will try to do some of that now. First I have to say that coming up with a title for this blog entry was the hardest part of posting...so hopefully this title covers it. At the moment I am blogging from my mom's laptop...Bridgette and I are spending the afternoon & evening there...we (my mom and I) made a big batch of kharoset for our church's seder tomorrow night. We aren't Jewish, and it isn't Passover yet, but because it's Maunday Thursday we are celebrating as Jesus would have the night before he was crucified...with a passover seder...and after the dinner the kids are going to give a Jewish dance performance for Purim. Anyway, the kharoset (which is basically chopped apple & walnuts mixed with a little cinnamon, sugar and grape juice) came out pretty good. Life has been crazy lately - we've been dealing with some annoying seasonally allergies that have made for some homeschool days that have been less than motivated. My husband has been taking a class for his job that has kept him out of the house 2 nights a week and doing school work most of the other nights and the weekend...and this is going to last until sometime in June...so we need prayer that we will find some time for each other and as a family. I am also waiting to hear from my friend who's little boy had surgery this morning - to see how he made out. They have been battling some very rare & serious medical issues with him from day 1, and he is 7 yrs old now - that in itself is a true miracle of God, as he wasn't expected to live beyond a few days after birth. This may or may not be the last option for him...he needed a special rod inserted into his back to help straighten out his spine and open up his rib cage so that he can breath better (and you'll have to forgive me for a simplistic and possibly a bit inaccurate description of what needed to be done). Last May he had the same surgery with a titanium rod only to discover that he was allergic to the metal...and over the last year have discovered that he's virtually allergic to all metals...finally they were able to put some sort of coating on the metal rod that thankfully he didn't have a reaction to. So I am hopeful that this time everything will work and this precious little boy can live and breath better. I will post later how he's doing post surgery. So if you have a chance and remember to think of him...please pray for Daniel! |
