Our journey...at home!!

Aug. 28, 2007 - What a dissapointment!

Today, Ryen was so excited about starting her new read aloud book, "Family Under the Bridge". As soon as Cami was asleep we all snuggled up in the reading pillows and started the book. All I knew about it was that a hobo runs into some children and they become family and that it was a award-winning book that Sonlight Curriculum uses. Well, in the first chapter the hobo runs into a gypsy and she tells him that something good is going to happen. Immediately, I stopped reading the book.  I was shocked! Maybe the book gets better, but who knows. So, I thought that I needed to do some more research on this book before I sit down and start reading it to my children.  I teach my children to listen to the voice of God and not some gypsy who is not listening to the voice of God.  Further more, even if the book does explain that gypsies are not from God, I am not interested in having to explain to my 3 and 4 year old why this man would even listen and entertain what a gypsy has to say!!!!! I am not going there. I am only interested in instilling in them that the Holy Spirit will reveal the future to them.
After I worked out I went beack to the library and got another Boxcar Children book, which made Ryen so thrilled! We had to start the first chapter tonight before bed.

Today, I feel like God gave me a goal for Amaris. For 3 minutes at a time, I expect her to sit still (with no wiggles) and listen without talking. Wow, this is a big deal for her. Yes, I know she is 3, but she can do it for 3 minutes at a time.  I am really excited about working more with Amaris. It is hard to be the middle child. But she is happy and well taught!! I am teaching her to watch was she says. I expect her to only say things that are good and helpful.

By the way, I am loving having structure and spending my day with my children!! It is a dream come true!!
