Keeping Up....

Just a quick update
I know it's been a while since I updated this blog. It's amazing how busy homeschooling has made me! And of course, I've been sick, and nauseated, and blah blah blah.
The boys are doing great though. They are actually learning, which is amazing considering who their teacher is! ;) We started using the "Victory Drill" book this week. AJ really loves it. He has such a competitive spirit, and loves trying to beat his score each day. Drew isn't so fond of it, but I'm really thinking it's an age thing.
In Phonics, we are just two pages away from finishing the first unit in the book. The boys now know 8 sight words, and are sounding out simple words. They know how to count syllables by clapping, and they know all about rhyming. AJ told me the other day that Phonics is his FAVORITE part of school. Doesn't really surprise me, considering he was just dying to learn to read. He is reading small books now, and is picking it up so quickly.
Both boys are loving Math-U-See. This week we started learning place value, which means they get to use the blocks a lot more. They love using the blocks.
This week, the boys learned to write lowercase "d", which means they can now write the word "dad". They were both very excited about that.
I'm honestly surprised at how well homeschooling is going. I guess I didn't really have confidence in myself as a teacher, but we are all having fun. I'm so glad we made this decision.
