For the past six months if anyone asked L.J. how old he was he would say 2 or 3. We had to finally teach him that his birthday was in May. So when someone asked him how old he was he would say, " two". Then I would ask him, "L.J. when are you going to be two?" His reply would be, "May!"
May arrived, then we had to explain what date his birthday was on. Everyday we would look at the calendar and show him when his birthday was. The closer we arrived to his birthday we would say L.J. you are almost two. I wasn't sure if he was comprehending what we were telling him or not.
Then a week before his birthday he would introduce himself by saying, "Me L.J. (while pointing to himself), birthday. He wanted everyone to know that his birthday was coming. This kid would even start singing the birthday song. We attended one of the youth's graduations. After the graduation we saw one of the parents. We said hi and then L.J. looked at her in the mist of crowd of people attempting to depart the facility and said birthday. We didn't know what he was saying. He just kept standing there, holding up traffic, saying birthday. I finally figured it out and let the parent know that L.J. wanted her to know his birthday was coming.
The night before his birthday we let him know that when he woke up in the morning he would be two years old, and that we were going to have pizza for his birthday. Why did I tell him that! That evening I had to keep explaining that we were not going to have pizza until after church the next day.
When L.J. woke up the next morning he was smiling. I told him happy birthday and of course he said, "PIZZA!" I took him to the bathroom where daddy and I jumped up and down and sang happy birthday to our two year old while he was using the bathroom. He just grinned from ear to ear.
After church we went to eat pizza with a few family members and friends. L.J. did not want to sit down and eat his pizza. He was to busy driving and playing basketball. All he wanted to do was play games. I couldn't believe it. He never ceases to amaze me.

A rare picture of the three of us (because I'm normally behind the camera) on our baby boy's second birthday.
