Ramblings of the Lindsey Mom

• Sep. 1, 2008 - Forgotten Update

Last night I was suppose to update you all on the Happenings of the Lindsey family. It was late when we got home so I didn't get a chance to update. However tonight I am able to do that very briefly.

School started on July 28th. So we are now 6 weeks into our school year. We started Story of the World two weeks ago. We switched from Abeka to this because we felt that the book was teaching things that nobody really knows. So we switched to Story of the World. The kids really like it a lot. So do I. This week we are going to be writing with quills and grape juice (ink). We are also going to be making a Monk's Supper. This should be interesting.

Tait also has started soccer with the public school. She is really enjoying it. It is nice to see her doing things with the public school kids for a little extra socialization. She has a home game tomorrow and I will post some pictures then.

I have been "Helping" out at a daycare. I put the helping in italics because I really don't do anything there but I get paid to do nothing. That is a lot of fun too. I go for the adult socialization. We are really enjoying this as the daycare provider is our friend.

The day before yesterday we saw a mom black bear and three cubs run across the highway. It was pretty cool as I had never seen three cubs with a mom before.

Other than that not much is going on here. I hope you have a good night. I know I will.

I am so impressed that you are SIX WEEKS into your school year. We are just about done with week 1. So far, so good. Sounds like your new history is lots of fun! Caitlin is using Vol. 4, but we are just reading it, not using the teacher's guide, etc.

About Me

We are a homeschool family of five. We live in Northern Maine. About 5 minutes from the Canadian border. We live in the country so we see a lot of wildlife. We homeschool our three children who are 10, 8, and 6. We have a Pomapoo named Bella and a Torti cat named Piper. I am looking to share our life as we journey through school days, special events, struggles, and every day happenings. Welcome along for the ride. It may be bumpy but it works!
