Facts From Digory Part 3

Posted in Posts by Digory

Hullo! Sorry it's been awhile, it was my birthday! But anyway here is part three, about the lovely people who make up the world of narnia. Remember one of these is wrong and you have to geuss which one!!I really don't think this is a spoiler, but if you think so, say so.

1.) Aravis' father is lord of Calavar.

2.) Aravis has younger sister.

3.) Lewis said that the first Narnia story, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, all came to him from a picture he had in his head of a faun carrying an umbrella and parcels through a snowy wood. In that way, Mr. Tumnus was the initial inspiration for all of the Narnia books.

4.) When Queen Helen first came to Narnia she curtsied to Aslan.

5.) When they landed in Narnia King Frank suggested everyone stay calm by singing Come Ye Thankful People, Come, a hymn.

6.) Eustace Clarence Scrubb is afraid of heights.

Perhaps I will do this theme again, there are just so many Narnians.

Well, have fun,

In Aslan's Mane,

~Digory~

I Finished!

Posted in Posts by Lucy

I forgot to say, I've finished The Last Battle! I finished quite a while ago, a few weeks ago, I believe. So, now I've read the whole series! I'm going to get my own set of the books soon. I'm not sure when. I am going to get this one...

(Though, I'm hoping that it won't have "A Major Motion Picture"  on it.)

These are the book covers...

Facts from Digory Part 2

Posted in Posts by Digory

Okay, the second part is going to be about Aslan, the Mighty Lion. Again, one of the facts will be wrong and it's your job to guess which one is wrong.

1.) "Aslan" is the turkish word for "lion".

2.) "Aslan"  was used as a title for Ottoman and Seljuq rulers.

3.) Aslan is the only character to appear in all seven books.

4.)The theory that Aslan may have been inspired by a mysterious lion which appears and disappears suddenly in the novel The Place of the Lion, written by Lewis' friend Charles Williams, was specifically denied by Lewis in a paper published later in his life.

5.)When Lewis started to write Narnia the character of Aslan was going to be a shapeshifter who took the form of a different animal almost every time you saw him.

6.)According to the author, Aslan is not an allegorical portrayal of Christ, but rather a different, hypothetical, incarnation of Christ himself: If Aslan represented Jesus, he would be an allegorical figure. However, he is an invention giving an imaginary answer to the question, 'What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia and He chose to be incarnate and die and rise again in that world as He actually has done in ours?'

I hope this one is a little harder then last time, you all guessed it to easy.

In Aslan's Mane,

Facts From Digory

Posted in Posts by Digory

Hullo, I have been thinking for awhile that I don't post enough but I just didn't know what to say. Well, I have thought of something. I thought I would post some facts about various things and one of them would false. This post's theme is C.S. Lewis. I will post 5 facts about Lewis and and one made-up one. Ity is your job to geuss which one is made up. If you guys like this I will do it again.

1. Unfortunately C.S. Lewis died on the 22 of November 1963. This was the same day JFK was assassinated.

2. The 'C.S.' in 'C.S. Lewis' stands for Charles Samuel.

3. C.S. Lewis' friends and family called him 'Jack' because his dog Jacksie was run over by a car when Lewis was four and he insisted on being called 'Jacksie' but later accepted 'Jack'.

4. He had one older brother, Warren H. Lewis.

5. Lewis' wife and mother died from cancer.

6.Lewis and his brother created Boxen, a world run by animals.

Enjoy!

Lucy Pevensie.....

Posted in Posts by Reepicheep

Well, awhile ago I posted saying that I would tell my opinion of Lucy Pevensie. Here I go!

I think that she would be a small, timid girl with long brown hair. She would have soft hazel eyes. She would be 8-9years old and be very shy. I think that she would gain joy and believe better than all she siblings. Aslan believed that she could be brave and she showed that bravery in several books (I am not going to say which, due to spoilers).

That is my opinion of Lucy. Until I post again,

When He Shakes His Mane,

Hello Fellow Humans and Creatures of Narnia,

I am here just to say Hello! But if I have anything futher to say, I will post! Well I have thought of something, But it is nothing about Narnia. It is about my friends car! Hopefully it will be fixed soon! Because she can't go anywhere only if someone comes and and picks her up! So she really needs her car to get fixed.

Mere Christianity

Posted in Posts by Puddleglum

Hello, this is Puddleglum, and before I actually begin this post, I'd like to point out we have 100 comments! Isn't that amazing?

Okay, just a few minutes ago, I finished a C. S. Lewis book called Mere Christianity, it is about the doctrine of the Christian faith... it is amazing and changed the way I think about everything. It is the best book I have ever read. It is not too long a book, and is not boring, it is actually very interesting and quite funny in some parts. Now, I DID have to re-read just about every sentence at least one time. It is a brain workout, but it's good for me, eh? =) Of course it is! =) Yes, it is the greatest book I have ever read, and up with my favorites. However, I do not recommend it for anyone who is not ready for a pretty hard read, but it's not full of big long hard words and stuff like that, what he is trying to say is hard for anyone to express, but Lewis did an incredible job and it does not drive you mad because it is so hard, it just makes you think. And everyone can use a bit of thinking, right! Haha. It is a must-read.

The Last Battle Spoiler

Posted in Posts by Aravis

If you have not read The Last Battle, do not highlight what is below.

Okay, in the very last chapter in The Last Battle, everyone one you knew and loved from every book dies (accept for Susan). When Dad read this chapter to me, I couldn't help but cry, it was just so sad to me at the time. But after a while, I realized that they were happy, and with Aslan for ever and ever, and like it said, every day was better and better. So, it truly was a happy ending, even if you don't think it is at first.

God Bless,

 Aravis

I foud some really cool pictures of lions that remind me of Aslan -

This one reminds me of Aslan's wild side--

Yes I know, this one does not look like Aslan, but I thought it was cool the way it showed how big lions are! I mean, he's almost as tall as the car!!!

This one shows the softer side of  'Aslan'

How's this?

Posted in Posts by Puddleglum

I have a fun idea for something to do in the club. Every month I am going to post a questionnaire for each book, in this order:

  1. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
  2. Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia
  3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  4. The Silver Chair
  5. The Horse and His Boy
  6. The Magician's Nephew
  7. The Last Battle

So, from now 'til the end of June I will be holding a questionaire for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and whoever gets the most answers right wins an award that I will design using a few pictures from that book. These are the questions. There are 10. The only rule is that you don't look at your book for the answers, please do it from memory.

  1. Why did the four children have to hide in the wardrobe together?
  2. What is Peter's title once he kills Fenris Ulf?
  3. Who went fishing for dinner at the Beavers' house?
  4. What does the White Witch drive?
  5. What did Edmund break in the Battle of Beruna?
  6. What smell does Lucy love?
  7. What did Father Christmas say he would do for Mr. Beaver?
  8. Why did Rumblebuffin pick up Lucy?
  9. What were the Kings and Queens hunting for in the last chapter?
  10. Who said "Once a king or queen in Narnia, always a king or queen"?

I know these are really hard, but I wanted to challenge y'all.
