Budget

Posted in Frugality

My dear husband and I have been budgeting for years now but have just recently got super serious about paying off debt and saving and living below our means. We're kind of doing the Dave Ramsey plan.

Anyway, I thought maybe if I blog it I'll have to be more accountable to it. We have real envelopes in my purse for groceries, eating out, and clothing. But, I usually borrow from one to use for another and don't do so well. I always go over with groceries and borrow. Anyway, I am so proud to say last Friday I spent about $5 under on groceries for the week...which by the way my allowed amount is $100 a week...including all toiletries and baby items...everything.

Call me crazy but I love Monday when my parents bring me the Sunday ads so I can sit down and start my grocery list for the following week. I sit down and write all the items I want to buy then price them per unit and compare all the local stores. I usually hit Meijer, Aldi, and Plumb's or Walgreens. Wherever I can get the best price. They're all within 5-10 minutes of my house.

Anyway, now you know. Now I have to do a good job and stay within the budget.

Hey! I didn't know you wrote all this and I could have saved you some long distance minutes! ;) I've tried the envelope method and did the same thing. Does Dave Ramsey reccommend that strategy?
Hope you get over that virus soon.
Love ya!
