How To Start Notebooking with FREE Subject Planner
How To Start Notebooking
There is no correct or incorrect way when it comes to notebooking. Each notebook is an “only one of its kind”. Each child will glean their own knowledge and see things differently from another which makes their notebooks “their own” creation. Their notebook will reflect their own individuality.
NO subject is restricted when it comes to notebooking.
It takes time and planning when first starting out in notebooking. Once you get started and have a routine you will find that it will take no time to prepare for your subjects.
I like to start with what curriculum I will be using IF any. Purchasing textbooks or other educational material is not always essential to teach your children properly.
A course of study is valuable. Mapping this out will help keep you focused on your overall objectives of what you want to get accomplished.
We need to grow accustomed to thinking “outside the box”. There is no reason why we have to cover every subject every day. We need to envision doing things differently. Become inventive with your schedule (unless you have legal restrictions).
A schedule will help you put your course of study into a realistic layout so that you can make the utmost use of your time, energy, and materials.
Below is a link of planning pages I made that may help you get organized with subject material.

I WON!! A New Notebooking Project In The Making
Hi Everyone,
I received a GREAT surprise in my email box this morning. The Old Schoolhouse and Salem Ridge Press held a contest offering one of their new books by Emma Leslie, and I was one of the lucky winners!!
I requested the book:

Out of the Mouth of the Lion: Or, The Church in the Catacombs
Story Setting: Asia Minor in 163 - 166 A.D.
Originally published in 1875; 265 pages; For Ages 12 – Adult
When Flaminius, a high Roman official, takes his wife, Flavia, to the Colosseum to see Christians thrown to the lions, he has no idea the effect it will have. Flavia cannot forget the faith of the martyrs, and finally, to protect her from complete disgrace or even danger, Flaminius requests a transfer to a more remote government post. As he and his family travel to the seven cities of Asia Minor mentioned in Revelation, he sees the various responses of the churches to persecution. His attitude toward the despised Christians begins to change, but does he dare forsake the gods of Rome and embrace the Lord Jesus Christ?
I will be using this book to create a notebooking project (for those of you who may be interested) for our Bible studies. I will post to the blog letting everyone know when the pages are done and can be downloaded. Here is a link to Salem Press and the wonderful books they have to offer.

Planning For A New Homeschool Year
It's about that time again, planning for a new homeschool year. Has your mailbox started popping with homeschool catalogs yet? Some may think it's way too early to start thinking of planning now, but some publishers offer nice discounts for early orders. This is something to keep in mind if your are working with a tight budget.
I just received my Alpha Omega catalog and they always offer a nice 20% discount in April and 10% discount in May. So be on the look out for those discounts!! Please feel free to post about homeschool discounts that offered.
How do you plan for a new school year?? As some of you may already know, I'm trying to use the girls laptop computer more. It allows them to take their studies where ever we go. I know which programs or publishers I will be using for most of their studies but there are a few I'm still in search for. Here is what our studies look like.
Math - Teaching Textbooks & Quarter Mile
History- TruthQuest
Science- Apologia
Vocabulary - Wordly Wise
Literature - Our Library Book Club (This is a classical homeschool club)
Computer - Mavis Beacon
Foreign Language - Before You Know It
Here is a list of the subjects I'm still in search for.
Grammar
Writing
Health/PE
Home Eco.
Blessings,
Lisa
