I am so sick of winter. All it is is rain, cold, and the occasional freezing precipitation. On the bright side, the Saints won the Super Bowl!! Woohoo! =D So, speaking of the Super Bowl, what was y'alls favorite commercials? I liked the Doritos kid myself, but then there was the Alice in Wonderland trailer, and...yeah. Doritos kid reigns supreme, though. And, of course, the halftime show was most excellent. ^_^ Even though they're old, The Who is still pretty cool. One counselor at the youth group party, though, asked his middle schooler daughter what she thought of the show. You know what she said? "Eh, they were okay." What is up with middle schoolers?! They make NO SENSE. I forgot to wear my Who Chucks, though. I was disappointed in myself. Let's see...what else? The Canterbury Tales is an...interesting book, to say the least. "The Knight's Tale" ((not to be confused with A Knight's Tale)) was all well and good, but after that, it gets wild. Beware the Wife of Bath. BEWARE HER. *shudder* I got a new math book. It's Life of Fred: Statistics. If any of y'all know the Fred books...it's crazy. xD If you don't know the Fred books, it's a series of math books written by this guy named Stanley Schmidt. They tell the life story of a six-year-old kid named Fred--
Get back here. *drags by collar* They're real math books, I promise. Anywho. Fred is a math professor at a university--you'll find I've superglued you to your seat to prevent more wanderings--and he often has exciting adventures. The story goes along, and then, all of a sudden, WHAM! There's the math. To prove that it works, I'll have you know that I have made straight A's so far in Statistics, occasionally known as 'Sadistics.' ((Mom: "You've only done three lessons!")) But I promise, it's a real math curriculum. Even Calvin uses them! =D Umm, anything else...I went to a play festival put on by Winter's art school on Saturday. All eleven short plays were written by students, alumni, or staff, and the cast did a really good job. There were a couple plays that they had to do Reader's Theatre for, which is where the stage directions are read aloud and the cast reads the lines with minimal movement. One of the Readers' Theatre ones was written by an eight-year-old, and it was really cute. ^_^ The other...was slightly creepy. It would be awesome to see it fully performed. The best part, though, was seeing one of the girls I met before, Jess, act as a crazy homeless guy. =D Oh! I worked the sound booth for all three church services on Sunday! And nothing went wrong! Huzzah! Aja |

Hey, Bermudians! Guess who's coming to visit you in June!
No, not Michael Phelps. >_> Or the Queen of England. Or anybody particularly famous.
No, it's ME!! I made a qualifying time for the meet in June, so...YAY!
Hey...where did they all go? o3o Aja |

I am so sick of Avatar, and I haven't even seen the movie.
Everywhere I look, there's blue cat people staring at me. And all the movie buffs are going on and on about how Avatar's going to be up for Best Picture at the Oscars and may end up being the highest grossing movie of all time! Well, movie buffs, you know why it could be the highest grossing movie of all time? BECAUSE 3-D MOVIES ARE SO BLOODY EXPENSIVE. I bet if you tallied up ticket sales, the number wouldn't be as high as you think. And yes, I understand that "the effects are amazing!" and "the visuals blow you away!" and all that crap. But did anyone ever think that, with all the money Mister Cameron spent on effects, he could have made a little more room for a better story? I mean, really. Same plot as Pocahontas. Just with giant blue cat people. I honestly don't want to see the movie anymore, not even on DVD.

The dance was AWESOME. =D Spamson and Winter came over Friday afternoon to get ready, and that was...eventful. Between curling their hair, Spamson putting on funky makeup, and my eyeliner fiasco...I think we scarred Calvin for life. >_> But it was SO. MUCH. FUN. Spamson wore a long purple dress, which looked GORGEOUS, especially when she did her purple makeup and wore the mask--that she MADE! Talented people...bah. ;D Winter wore a shorter black dress with a black-and-white cat mask, and I ended up wearing the long red one with the train/tail and a red and black feathered mask. Oh, and we got lost on the way to the castle where the dance was held. xD But after asking for directions, we eventually found it, and still managed to be early. Once we got into the castle, we found Kaira, Snap, and her date, who was just plain awesome. It took a while for people to actually get up and start dancing, but everyone eventually got out on the floor once the DJ played a Black Eyed Peas song. See, there's this thing about modern dance music...it gets stuck in your head, even when you don't know the words. I was texting Winter after I went home on Saturday, and she told me she had the Black Eyed Peas' song from the dance stuck in her head, and she only knew one phrase. Yeah, modern music's weird. BUT they let us request songs, so we definitely took advantage of that. =D Winter and I requested "Masquerade" from Phantom of the Opera, which we thought was highly appropriate, but apparently...nobody else but Kaira, Spamson, and Snap got it. Out of a huge crowd, only five people got it. So what does the lady in charge decide to do? Take a group picture. It took us ten minutes for that picture. Ten. Minutes. Meh. ANYWHO. I also requested "Thriller," and we all learned the dance from Snap. It's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Later, we had to teach Snap's date how to do the Hand Jive from Grease, but I don't think he got it. xD OH! We also got the DJ to play "Revolution," and surprisingly, kids other than us got it--and danced!! Made. My. Day. After Spamson's mom picked us up at 11:30, we went to Waffle House for dinner, and then back to her house. We crashed almost as soon as we walked in the door. xD So, yeah, we had much fun. I love going to dances. Aja |

I think it's established that I'm a slacker. xD Or maybe not, I dunno.
Last Friday, Winter, Winter's mum, Steve-o, Mani, Mari and I went to go see Sherlock Holmes, and all of us except for Mani showed up in fedoras. We got many weird looks, and it made our day. =D Before the movie, there were the obligatory trailers, and a couple of the ones we saw were really, really good. Iron Man 2 and Inception are the ones that I remember the most...and I will be seeing them both. And when the movie started...we definitely approved. Yeah, they made Sherlock an action hero, but in the books he did actually get into fights. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle just didn't give play-by-plays, and the director ((Guy Ritchie, I think. I definitely know his name is Guy)) did. It was Sherlock's brother Mycroft who stayed home and never got into fights. ^_^ BUT. Robert Downey, Jr. did great, and so did Jude Law, who played Watson. They should be in more movies together. The villain, though, Lord Blackwood...he was never in the books. And I can't say much more, unless you want spoilers. I really, really hope they make another one, because they totally set it up. Especially with The-Shadowed-Guy-Whose-Name-Is-Revealed-At-The-End...that would be SO AWESOME. [/geekiness] After the movie, we hung out in Books-A-Million and taught Mari how to find Waldo. Oddly enough...I couldn't find the Waldo books, which I found highly ironic. ^_^ Eventually, we wasted two hours in the bookstore, and by then, the mall was closing, so we went to a Zaxby's across the street for dinner. We closed that, too. xD Steve-o and I spent the night at Winter's house, where we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Steve-o fell asleep last time we tried to watch it, so making it through was an accomplishment. xD She did fall asleep during Across the Universe, though. The next day, everyone woke up around 11, and we had breakfast at lunchtime. Before we left, we watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, because it's just epic like that and can be watched all year round. xD After Steve-o left, Winter and I watched UP. Pixar did it again--they took a bizarre plot and totally made it work. I love them, I really do. UP was really cute, and so were the shorts that went with it. If you haven't seen it...do so immediately. =D
Tomorrow is the masquerade, and I can't WAIT!! Oh, one more thing--the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack is composed by none other than the great Hans Zimmer. ((Huzzah!!))

On New Years' Eve, I got a call from Spamson.
Kaira had invited her to a dance, but her mom didn't want her to go by herself. SO, she called me and asked me if I wanted to go. Naturally, I said yes. =D The best part is, the dance is a Masquerade party!! Huzzah!! So began the epic dress search. We went to the mall, my cousin's sending me some, and the mom of the little boys I baby-sit is bringing one over, too. This. Is. Fun. =DDD

Hopefully, things will be a bit different next year, so I won't have to copy and paste this entire list. xD There would have been more Beatles songs, but I got Sgt. Pepper's--the remastered edition--for Christmas, so I replaced the songs from that album that Bella gave me. ((Between you and me, I can't really tell a difference, but I don't want more than one copy of the song on Julian.)) Soon to come ((??))--Top Movies, Top Books, and other fun stuff!

Somehow that doesn't sound as cool as "Merry Christmas Adam." =/ Anywho. Today, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Christmas with them. Let me just say that they had a better reaction to the photo book we gave both sets of grandparents than Nana did. xD We also got Grandpa two TV shows that he likes, and we got Grandma a movie called Last Chance Harvey ((read: chick flick)) and Carrie Fisher's autobiography. Mom got some money for tennis shoes, a cookbook, and Andre Agassi's autobiography. Funny story 'bout the Agassi book. It was the only thing she asked my aunt for, and she was positive that she was going to get it from my aunt. She opens up her present on Christmas morning and what does she find? The new Alex Cross book from James Patterson. But she's got Agassi's book now, so it's all good. xD Daddy got a sleeping bag, a Visa gift card, and the Ace of Cakes book. In case you're one of the few who doesn't know who the Ace of Cakes is...he's like Cake Boss. Only better. =D The guy's real name is Duff, and he makes these AWESOME cakes that are often featured on Cake Wreck's Sunday Sweets. And then he blows them up. xD Calvin got the new Warriors book--which I'm sure you'll be hearing ALL about on his blog--a sleeping bag, a headlamp for camping, a Visa gift card, and a box to put all his camping stuff in. But he got the box yesterday. And he can fit in it! =D I got a shirt with Chucks on it, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, a Visa gift card, and The Beatles Trivial Pursuit. Nobody will play it with me, though. I am sad. D= Oh! One more thing. I have purple high-top Chucks. Pictures will be coming soon. =DDDDDDDDDD And about the Beowulf movie...my parents watched it today, and apparently it's gory. Really, really gory. Animated...but gory. I can take gore, but I don't think it's really all that necessary. ((*insert tangent about The Dark Knight and others along that line being suspenseful and all that jazz without gore here*)) Except in horror movies, in which case it's kind of the selling point. Will be skipping Beowulf. But that's all for now, I suppose. Chucks pictures soon! I promise! Aja |

Huzzah! *celebration*
Calvin and I woke up this morning to find stocking FILLED with good stuff and many presents under the tree. Huzzah! My stocking had completely legal cookies, funky socks, gum, the Beowulf movie, and a Charlie the Unicorn t-shirt. xD Calvin's had pretty much the same, except no socks, normal cookies, and a Cuba Gooding, Jr. movie called Radio. Y'all should have seen Mom's face when she opened her present from me. I braved the black abyss of Hot Topic and got her a Charlie the Unicorn notebook and Charlie plushie, and her reaction was PRICELESS. xD But then I gave her a box of Junior Mints ((quite refreshing!)) and it was all good. She and Daddy both liked the books we got them--the Dad's Book and Mom's Book on How To Be Best At Everything. Daddy also liked the sleeping pad that Calvin got him and the stadium seat for swim meets. Calvin LOVED the Encyclopedia of Immaturity ((Vol. II)) that I got him, and the Beatles signs I got ((one from him and one from Mom and Daddy)) will go PERFECT in my room. Spiffy. =D He also got a rocket that he can launch over and over and over and...yeah. I told him he should strap his Buzz Lightyear to it one time. ^_^ Mom and Daddy also got me some ApologetiX CDs ((huzzah!!)) and Calvin got a new Bible. Which he needed. Badly. His old one fell apart. Literally. xD Our aunt and uncle sent presents down earlier. Mom got the new Alex Cross book by James Patterson, and Daddy got Sarah Palin's book. Calvin got a new Sonic the Hedgehog Wii game and a Prismacolor marker set, and I got an iHome/alarm clock for Julian ((name suggestions, anyone? It's small and a cube and has four interchangeable skins!)) and the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's album. <3 Oh, and a $25 iTunes gift card, which I've already spent. xD I got The Dark Knight soundtrack, "Violet Hill" and "Yellow" by Coldplay, and "Amish Paradise" and "Don't Download This Song" by Weird Al. The Beatles are not on iTunes yet. YOKO LIED. D= But. My favorite thing that I got today. It is a long-ish ((down to my knees)) black peacoat. Made by Converse. I haven't taken it off all day. <3333333333333333333 Tomorrow we're going to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Christmas with them. Hope everyone's Christmas is going well!

Today, as many of you know, is Christmas Adam. Christmas Adam is the day before Christmas Eve.
ONWARD! Today, I went to go see The Princess and the Frog with Winter, Steveo, Lindz, 'Mani, and 'Mari. It's Disney's first 2D movie in...in FOREVER, and it was actually really good. They totally went back to what Disney USED to be ((i.e., before the Channel started taking over)) and you can thank John Lasseter for that. =D He's the new head of animation, and he LOVES 2D. Also, he used to work/still works at Pixar. More points in my book. After the movie ((which we were more excited about than the eight-year-olds all around us)) we walked around the mall, occasionally popping our heads into some of the stores. We stopped by Starbucks, the Crocs store, and the Disney store. Everybody but 'Mari ((who's a dude)) chose a Disney princess ((Winter is Belle, Steveo is Cinderella, Lindz is Ariel, 'Mani is Tiana, and I'm Giselle)) and we took a picture of us with our princess stuff. And you wouldn't believe how many weird looks we got. I mean, c'mon, we're just a bunch of teenagers in tiaras and top hats coming from seeing The Princess and the Frog! How unusual is that?! ...Right. So, that was today. The new How It Should Have Ended short is up--Wizard of Oz, woo-hoo!--so you should definitely go watch it. ^_^

You must now sit through an update of my life. Haha. Last Friday, Winter, Jimmy, Lindz, and I went to the Nights of Lights at the lake. It was pretty spiffy, especially because they had penguins. *huzzah* And a dinosaur that Lindz thought was a beaver. O_o We all got matching ornaments, and Winter and I got little princess tiaras. ^_^ Oh, and pictures with Santa. Yay! =D Back at Winter's house, we started our movie marathon off with Phantom of the Opera, which--believe it or not--Lindz hadn't seen before! But I can't really talk, since the first time I saw it was in August...yeah. In the end, Lindz was a definite Raoul/Christine supporter...she doesn't even think Christine's a ditz! Yeah. But she is the only nice Twihard I've ever met. *huzzah* We also watched A Knight's Tale ((Heath Ledger, yay!!)) and Annie Get Your Gun. Well, the three of them watched Annie Get Your Gun. I fell asleep. xD After that one, it was decided that we would watch The Mummy, and I laughed. And then fell asleep. Saturday night, Calvin and I worked a dinner at church. Riveting. Sunday was our youth group Christmas party, complete with fancy dress. I borrowed one of Winter's dresses and wore it with my black low-top Converse, my Rogue gloves, and the tiara I bought. ^_^ It was a really fun party, too. We did a gift swap game, and I brought glow-in-the-dark spaceman footie pajamas. They were the most fought-over thing in the high-school gift exchange. No joke. I ended up with two silver candles, complete with candlesticks, and one of the college kids got the pajamas. Yeah, it was fun. Monday was Calvin's scout dinner. There was entertainment. Consisting of grown men dancing. In kilts. I am forever traumatized. Dx Yesterday, I finally got the Disney movie finished. *much rejoicing* And I burned it to a DVD and it works perfectly and IT'S DONE!!!!!! *maniacal laughter* *deep breath* I'm good now. And in entertainment news...last Wednesday, I checked out The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux from the library. Last night, I finished it. Fastest. Classic book. Read. EVER. And it was good to boot. I almost cried at the end...it was much sadder than the movie. ((She broke his little ghostly heart! D=))But also better than the movie, partially because Christine actually had some brains, and the Phantom actually had a name and more of a personality. But mostly because of the Persian. =D Oh, one more thing: Jimmy showed us this AWESOME video at Winter's party. You'll definitely like it if you're a geek. Heck, you'll probably like it if you're not a geek. Aja |

Haha, downstairs for breakfast. xD Theater: Where The Wild Things Are On DVD: The Mummy ((but I fell asleep.)) All the way through on DVD: A Knight's Tale Heck yeah. Not always. Sometimes I don't answer texts. But I answer most calls. Haha, purple. Umm, nothin'. Yup! Its name is Turtle. ^_^ Fish are boring. Yeah, one. Uhh, no. A little of both. I'm excited to start college and all, but I'm kinda nervous as to what I'll do after college. Maybe. *shrugs* Obviously not a bad one. When I want to. I can do a bad British accent, a posh Hollywood accent, and Tim Hawkins-style Southern. Song...? I don't usually cry at songs. Going to Calvin's Scout dinner. I hope the food is good. Umm, if I did, I can't really remember. Or I choose not to. xD Fake ones. Meh. My amigos at church. At Winter's house with junk food and video cameras. Oh, and David Cook. ^_^ Lemme think for a second. *thinks* I think I'll go with "With A Little Help From My Friends." By the Beatles, naturally. But ((and this is gonna bug the crap outta Calvin, =D)) the Across the Universe version is pretty spiff as well. Heck yeah. Nope. And I don't plan to. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. ((Bohemian Rhapsody for the win.)) Heh heh... Masquerade from Phantom of the Opera Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down Random Beatles songs ((woo!!)) Et cetera. No...but that'd be pretty spankin' awesome. Ne me touchez pas! ((That'd be "Don't touch me"...in French. =D)) I have no idea. Christian music. Old. ((Luv ya! xD)) Eww, no. I don't always think before I speak...so I can end up saying really stupid stuff sometimes. That, and I have this freakish ability/habit of randomly quoting movies that I've seen maybe once. xD Yes, and there is photographic proof. Eh, not really. Haha, driver's ed. xD Last Thursday at OCC. =D Sleeping. "Curses, it's cold." |

Just thought I'd show you guys and gals something I saw at the Cake Wrecks "World" Tour while standing in line to meet Jen and John...
Note that it says 'The Key to Mastering Vocabulary is in Defining Twilight.' Now, I don't know how many of you have read Twilight, but even Twihards would have to admit that Twilight isn't exactly beefy on the vocabulary. Here's another shot--
"Vocabulary Workbook for Unlocking the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT." Uhh, right. I opened it to the first page, and one of the vocabulary words was 'noble.' Noble. And none of the other words were difficult, either. Winter got them, and she freely and openly admits that English is not her best subject. Another disturbing thing is that this book is written by one Brian Leaf, M.A. Which means that, unless we got some weird parents out there, this author is male. Which means he read the books. Twilight is fine for girls, but a guy? A fully-grown adult guy? Weird. Just thought I'd let you guys know. There were ones for New Moon and Eclipse, too. [/spiel] Aja |
