But as she's getting ready to go, a knock comes on the door...

Posted in Silver Hammers

BANG BANG, Maxwell's silver hammer came down on her head.

CLANG CLANG, Maxwell's silver hammer made sure she was dead.

Or at least her appetite was anyway.

It's Like Twitter, Only Cooler

Posted in Not As Random As You Think I Salad

--Winter and I are on Cake Wrecks! Admittedly, we're only in the background of one picture, but still...we're on Cake Wrecks! =D

--I drove on the interstate on Saturday while carrying on an intelligent conversation with my dad and I didn't wreck.

--Last night, I had a nightmare that I was forced to get a Facebook. Yeah, scary stuff.

--We're doing Youth Sunday again at church this year, and I get to work the sound booth! =D

--Calvin and I watched the most ridiculous half-hour of a movie I've ever seen: The Day After Tomorrow. Not only is the premise ridiculous ((oh, no! Global warming is going to cause another ice age! =O)) but the science is bad ((again...global warming does not equal ice age, and currents around India and Africa can't melt the polar ice caps.)) Oh yeah, and the people aren't too bright, either. In one scene, where tornadoes are ravaging LA, a reporter and his trusty cameraman are running towards the tornadoes while the smart people are running away. The reporter turns to the camera, wind blowing his hair and coat and nearly sweeping him off the ground, and says, "If you look behind me...that's a tornado!" Brilliance, absolute brilliance. -_- At first I thought the movie was directed by Michael Bay, but it was Roland Emmerich, who directed Independence Day, which is supposed to be really good.

Award Recipients!

Posted in Not As Random As You Think I Salad

As stated in the rules of the Superior Scribbler Award ((see below,)) I must now award it to five--yes, five!--bloggy friends.

Oh yeah, and I have to link back to Mrs. P's blog too.

*cough* Well...I only have about three bloggy friends. And those friends--who are muchly deserving--are!

Maddy at living up to my sleeves
Calvin at The Many Adventures of Calvin
Winter's Mum at Parakeet College

...Yeah.

Now, I've completed everything the rules say to do. So you can quit harassing me, Blog Police! *glare at Blog Police*

Posted in Life in Technicolor

The Situation: You are, for some reason, sitting in the International Beatles Day party auditorium talking to Aja while others lurk around.

"It would seem," she says, "that Mrs. P has awarded me the Superior Scribbler Award!"

While you were admiring the award, Aja started on her acceptance speech: "...And I'd like to thank my parents, and my brother, and my alter-ego--"

Jack waves from the back.

"And the wild chibis and crazy 'toons that live in the basement, and my friends, and the Academy--" She stops suddenly. "Was I rambling?"

You nod.

"Oops."

Suddenly, a penguin with a jetpack swoops in, carrying an envelope in its bill.

"A penguin with a jetpack?" you ask.

Aja nods. "You can thank Jack for that. She's great with machinery and stuff." She opens the envelope and reads the note inside. "Apparently this award comes with a catch.

"1. Each Superior Scribbler I name today must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving bloggy friends.

"2. Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author & the name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.

"3. Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog.

"4. Each Superior Scribbler must post these rules on his/her blog."

"Sounds surprisingly easy," Jack says.

"Wait, there's more fine print." Aja adjusts her glasses and squints at the bottom of the page. Suddenly, her eyes widen and she gulps. "DODGER!"

Dodger appears in the doorway. "Yeah?"

"We got company!"

The bellhop's face morphs into a mask of fear. "Did they finally track you down for the Makeovers?"

"No, worse! It's the grammar police!"

Dodger can't take it any more. He faints, landing on Paul McCartney's toes as he hits the floor.

"Will he be okay?" you ask.

Aja is still watching the spot where the short bellhop passed out. "Yeah, sure..." She shakes her head and resumes her semi-professional attitude. "Alrighty, then. Paul, will you and the rest of the band be greeters at the door?"

"Why?"

"Because I put Agent K and Agent J out there with a couple of Rottweilers to keep unwanted intruders away, and frankly, two Men in Black with two giant dogs don't exactly present the spitting image of 'welcoming.' A 60s British band singing stuff like 'I've Just Seen A Face' and 'She Loves You'--"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" Ringo adds spontaneously.

"That's different. So..." Aja does her best Bambi eyes. "Please?"

The Fab Four try to resist, but...

George makes a face. "I hate it when she does the Bambi eyes!"

"C'mon, fellows, let's go." John leads the other three out front, and a few minutes later, Agents K and J come back in, followed by the Rottweilers.

Everyone is on the edge of their seats, waiting for the mysterious guest to arrive. About forty-two minutes later, Gambit and Loor escort a new lady in.

"That must be the grammar police," Aja whispers to Jack. She then smiles at the new lady and says, "CrossView, I presume?"

The new lady nods, looking around.

"Well, I'd like to welcome you to The Penguinator's Lair. Thanks for coming by!"

Jeeves comes by and offers CrossView something to drink.

Everyone sits down as the Men in Black head back outside and the Beatles come in, led by Paul. "Do you know how cold it is outside?!" John calls, his nose red. George is rubbing his hands together for warmth, and Ringo's teeth are chattering.

Aja whispers something to Jeeves, who promptly zooms off. She then turns back to her guest, and conversation starts again.

((Thanks for reading, CrossView! If you happen to be reading this post right now...well, you're reading right now, and I promise, we're all on our very best behavior. xD))

Wreck On!

Posted in Geekery

Okay, okay, I know you're still waiting for the Worst Posters post, but I have several excellent excuses. =D

I was totally writing the post, right? Well, I was kidnapped by Colonel William Stryker, who is secretly in league with the Romulans from Star Trek! And then, they held me hostage until the wild chibis and crazy 'toons paid my ransom, but EVEN STILL, the Men in Black had to come rescue me!
By then, some idiot ((*cough*JOKER*cough*)) had turned off my computer, and the post was lost.

Or I could just say that my foot accidentally hit the power switch and turned off the computer in the middle of the post.

But which is more exciting to read? Yeah, thought so.

ANYWHOOOO.

Last night, Winter and I ((and Winter's mum)) went downtown to the Barnes and Noble to see the Cake Wrecks "World" Tour! =D We got there about two hours early, so she bought the Cake Wrecks book and we looked through it.

What? Is there someone out there who doesn't know what Cake Wrecks is? ((Pleasesaynopleasesaynopleasesayno.))

If that's the case, then I direct you to here. Bye, kids! Drive safe now, y'hear? Use yer road rage if y'have to!

But yeah. Cake Wrecks Tour.

The lady behind the CW site, Jen, and her husband, John, told us about the backstory of the site, how they manage all the submissions that are sent in, what their favorite Wrecks are, and other random factoids. John even did an impersonation of the Swedish Chef. xDD Both of them are really nice and friendly, and at one point, they had me--and everyone else--laughing so hard, we were nearly crying. xDDD

We got the book signed (("To Aja and Winter. Under Neat That, 'Something Pithy')), and autograph for Calvin, and Jen even signed a picture of my birthday cake! =DDD

Oh yeah, they had cake. And you know what? I ate a completely legal breakfast just so I could have some of that cake. I'm not a fan of oatmeal, but I ate it anyway, just for the cake.

And it was SO worth it. White cake with strawberry filling and white chocolate mousse frosting...YUM.

Ooo! Here's some pictures!

cakewreckstour5.jpg picture by pyro_pirate_penguin

^^ The "World" Tour Logo.

cakewreckstour4.jpg picture by pyro_pirate_penguin

^^ The crowd. There were actually a lot more people, but we were sitting in front ((yay!)) and on the floor.

cakewreckstour28.jpg picture by pyro_pirate_penguin

^^ That was supposed to be a picture of John with his first-ever decorated cake, but something popped up on the screen just as I took the picture. xD

cakewreckstour21.jpg picture by pyro_pirate_penguin

^^ John and Jen! =D

cakewreckstour20.jpg picture by pyro_pirate_penguin

^^ The updated tour logo. John got really sick while they were on tour in Texas, so they had to reschedule...with a new logo.

Yeah, it was really fun. =D

Posted in Silver Hammers

I had a silver hammer moment today.

For those of you who are wondering "What the heck is a silver hammer moment?" the phrase comes from a Beatles song, Maxwell's Silver Hammer. The song's really slightly random and a bit disturbing, considering how catchy it is, but it's about this guy named Maxwell who hits people over the head with a silver hammer. According to Paul McCartney, who kind of wrote the song, the phrase "Maxwell's silver hammer" meant, to him, something that comes out of the blue and ruins your entire day. Naturally, he wrote a song about it. Go figure. ((But I do suppose that getting killed by a hammer-wielding lunatic does put a damper on your day. Just a little.))

So that's where the phrase comes from.

Onto my silver hammer moment.

First, I was working the sound booth at the traditional service at church today. Well, at the 8:15 service, I accidentally turned off the pulpit microphone while the guy was reading the Scripture. Embarassing for a moment, but I turned it back on and all was good, laugh and don't think anything more about it.

Tonight, the rest of the youth group ((minus a few)) got back from the fall retreat, and everyone was swapping stories--the youth who had gone were telling about the retreat, the ones who hadn't were telling about their oh-so-exciting weekends. So I was talking to Winter and Mimi about my *fascinating* weekend, and I come to the part about me in the sound booth this morning.

Well, Leafpool happened to be standing nearby, and the dialogue went something like this...

Me: *pepped and excited* "Hey, so listen to what happened when I was working the sound booth this morning. It was the 8:15 service, and the guy was reading the Scripture, right? And--"

Leafpool: "You accidentally turned off the mike while he was reading?"

Me: *somewhat less pepped* "Yeah, how'd you know?"

Leafpool: "Oh, your mom told me and Winter." *smirk*

Me: *now totally deflated and slightly upset*

((Feel free to add a deflating balloon sound effect as well.))

I don't get it. Like, why does Leafpool have to steal my minor claim-to-fame. Seriously? It just bugs me.

I did get the other side of the story from my mom, though: she was talking to Winter and Ms. K, not Winter and Leafpool. Leafpool just happened to be standing nearby.

I haven't posted anything, but Leafpool and I haven't been getting along lately. I don't want to put much about it here; it's just really frustrating.

So, that's a silver hammer moment.

Best Posters, 2009

Posted in Countdowns

Haha, I totally see you waiting on the edge of your seat. xD And yes, I decided to make this an annual occurence, why?

All-new posters! All-new commentary! All-new FUN! =DDDD

10. My Fair Lady

Bet you hadn't seen this one before, eh? =D I love how it looks like a painting...having not been there when it was done, I have no idea if it was actually painted or not. xD

9. 9

Simplicity in colors--lots of dull colors, and then BAM! Green!
What'd be awesome is a glow-in-the-dark version. I would totally buy that one. =D

8. Across the Universe HELP!

Dude. It's in German. =D Remember the Eragon poster from last year? Chyeah, German posters rule. ((And I just realized, it was #8, too! I think this starts a new tradition! ^_^))

7. Batman

'Kay, so the one I really liked was in black and white, and looked almost like a pencil sketch. BUT the website it was on gave me issues, so now you see my second-favorite one. I like the split-face thing, although I would've swapped Batsy with Joker and made it look like one face as opposed to two halves. *cough*AndChristianBale'sthebestBatman*cough*

6. Alice in Wonderland

Yes, I choose to blind you with the Mad Hatter as opposed to the nice, calm blues of Alice or the whites of the White Queen. WHAT now.

*cough* Fine...

But I'm really excited for the new Alice in Wonderland. The trailer is Technicolor! =D
Ish. >_>

5. Across the Universe 21

I like how they made the poster actually look like playing cards, since that's kind of what the movie was about--the MIT kids beating the system in Las Vegas.

4. The Dark Knight

Hey, I said 'all-new posters,' not 'all-new movies.' xD This is my other favorite Dark Knight poster. It's the one we actually took a picture in front of. Last year's was Joker, this year's is the Batman. But I'm not a big fan of the blue with the orange, so...let's play with it a little, shall we?

Ooo, I like. =D

There are so many good posters for that movie, I could do a Top 10 Dark Knight posters list...idea! idea! =DDDDD

3. A Hard Day's Night

Requested by a fellow Beatlemaniac. =) I like the random picture of the back of George's head. xD It looks like they jumped into one of those photo booth things. Awesome...

2. Toy Story

I. Love. Pixar. And I love how they always keep their Toy Story posters simple--the characters, the white background, the name of the movie. Occasionally a catchy tagline. =)

Plus, Woody and Buzz rule. =D

1. Where The Wild Things Are

This movie was absolutely gorgeous. The poster's pretty darn good, too. =) I love how it's little Max in the corner next to the gigantic Carol. Wild things, both of them.

Stay tuned for this year's worst posters!

"What's goin' down?"

Posted in Life in Technicolor

tobyMac reference, booyah. xD

I don't think any of yous guys actually ever asked to hear about my life, but since you're here, you might as well read. And you're not a captive audience, either. See, there's the door if you get bored. Or need a drink. Or a bio break.

Last Friday, Winter and I went to a homeschool high school football game. I've been following this team since their first season ((undefeated, chyeah, baybayyy!)) and Winter used to be a cheerleader for them. They won, and I totally forgot the score. BUT THAT'S NOT THE IMPORTANT BIT! We saw people we hadn't seen in forever, and I got to meet one of the girls who goes to Winter's art school.

After the game, we went to Kroger to get candy corn, and then back to Winter's house, where we watched Stargate: Universe and Sanctuary while muching pizza and said candy corn. Then, after grabbing Schreiber and Little Vicky, we watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I forgot how much I like that movie. ^.^

Then, we watched a very scary movie...Across the Universe. >=D Seriously, that movie is crazy. And the soundtrack is epic. =DDDD

Saturday was pretty cool. We got the house ready for the trick-or-treaters coming later that night, and we watched a couple episodes of Ghost Hunters. xP That's a weird show; I didn't really like it.

Oh yeah, we also watched about half of Ghostbusters. Gooooood stuff. =D

We went over to the neighbors' house for dinner, where we met my parents and Calvin. And, incidentally, a new gadget--

My new phone. Since my mom got one, I did too.

I named it LeBeau. ^_^

We went trick-or-treating with Calvin, reusing our Disney costumes. Somebody gave us raisins. >_> Raisins. We had to get back to Winter's house by nine, so we did, and we watched The Princess Bride. Well, we tried to, anyway. The speakers blew about half an hour in. xD

Fast forward to today. I babysat for some people from church. The girls were really cute, and they were fun to watch, but MAN, was the younger one wild. xD We played outside, watched TV, made juice pops, and played a Disney karaoke game.

Funny story 'bout the karaoke game. See, being Disney, it has a significant lack of my kind of music, instead supplying Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, et cetera. But it does have one Coldplay song, Violet Hill. So, when it's my turn, I pick that one, thinking "Oh, it's Coldplay, how hard can it be, right?"

Ha. Ha. Out of all the Coldplay songs out there, the one song the game makers choose Violet Hill. Which is tricky when you don't know the words.

I failed. Epically. The girls laughed at me and my failness.

So now I have devoted myself to learning all the words to Violet Hill. I've got the music video up on YouTube, and I think I'm on my tenth time listening. I WILL AVENGE MYSELF!

*cough* Yeah.

Oh, and if you haven't watched How Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Should Have Ended, you totally should. They're coming out with How Twilight Should Have Ended this month! =D

Aja

EDIT: Oh yeah, Jeeptimus sent me this poem he wrote to post on here--

Little tides flowing 'round.
Flowing 'round homeward bound.

Some are shattered, some are lost
Swirling into brand new thoughts.

Spinning maelstrom, forwards lost,
Spinning faster than the sounds,
Waves and swirls like broken glass,
Spinning forwards,
Fowards lost,
The purple swirls aglow with thoughts.

Aja ((still listening to Violet Hill))

Time for a new post!

Posted in Life in Technicolor

Ooo, what all has transpired between October 8th and now, hmm?

I read the first book in Scott Westerfeld's Midnighters trilogy and LOVED IT! =D I think I just found my new favorite author. I also read his new book, Leviathan, which was AMAZING...steampunk for the win! The fourth Uglies book, Extras, is alright. Not my favorite, but still pretty good.

I. Saw. 9. Tim Burton is a genius. A crazy genius, but a genius all the same. I wish there had been a better ending, though. Kinda disappointed. I tried to make a 5 plushie, but I don't have all the things I need. =/

Ummm...Nightmare Before Christmas is reallyreally good. Especially when you're not baking bad blonde brownies. xD I want to download the rest of the soundtrack now.

I also saw No Reservations--total chickflick, by the way. XPPPPP But I still think Aaron Eckhart's pretty cool. I can never picture him without picturing Two-Face, though. Funny, can't imagine why.

And Taken. Oh. My. Gosh. Liam Neeson is THE MAN! Not only did he mentor Obi Wan Kenobi and Bruce Wayne, he ALSO is a former CIA agent who travels halfway across the world to rescue his daughter from kidnappers! Chyeah, you better believe it. =D

Once we officially got back home, things kinda slowed down. School, swim, et cetera. I got a funky new striped sweater from Papaya and a purple flannel shirt ((aka a lumberjack shirt.))

Winter and I went to go see Where The Wild Things Are a couple weeks ago. I hereby ORDER everyone to go see it. NOW. It was incredible how they took a 32-page-long book and made it into a feature film. Seriously! It was absolutely beautiful, and I nearly cried at the end. =)

GO SEE.

A couple more things--

--When Winter and I go see Alice in Wonderland next year, I'm totally dressing up as Alice and she's totally dressing up as the Mad Hatter.

--There's a biiig high school football game tomorrow night, and Winter's wearing one team's colors while I'm wearing the other's. xD

--I started a new photo blog/project, so you should definitely check it out at http://pictureifyouwill.blogspot.com
I go by Lucy over there, though, so don't be confused. =)

--The fifth Leven Thumps book, Leven Thumps and the Ruins of Alder, was only the second perfect series ending this year, the other being Percy Jackson and the Olympians' The Last Olympian. ((Admit it, The Soldiers of Halla was disappointing. ADMIT IT.)) Ha, Ruins of Alder is probably my second favorite out of the series, if only because my favorite character makes a reappearance. ((And nobody believed me that he wasn't dead. See, I AM smarter than I look! =D))

--I just said why I liked a series-ending book without leaking a spoiler.

--I see you about to contest that last point, but technically, I didn't say any names. Since nobody who reads this blog reads Leven Thumps--much less knows who my favorite character is--there were no spoilers leaked. Except for Calvin. He reads this blog and Leven Thumps. But he's already read Ruins of Alder, so we'll be moving on now.

--HowItShouldHaveEnded.com has not one, not two, but THREE new shorts up! One is How The Terminator Should Have Ended, one is How Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Should Have Ended, and the third is a deleted scene from the Transformers short. Ha, I must've watched the Transformers one about fifty times already. xDDD And I haven't even seen the movies.

--HISHE's short next month is going to be Twilight. This will be fun. >=D

--I'm going over to Winter's house tomorrow after the football game, where we shall watch a scary movie. Which one? Across the Universe. Mwah ha ha ha.

--I have perfected my imitation of the Count from Sesame Street. xD And y'all should seriously watch that video.

--And that's all, folks!

Back in the...state of Georgia.

Posted in Not As Random As You Think I Salad

Ha, that title was almost a Beatles song reference. xD

Just a note to let everyone know that we're all back in Georgia, safe and mostly sound. Calvin and I are at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and Mom and Daddy are gonna come back down in a couple of days for Daddy's class reunion.

Oh yeah, and my Hollywood Tower Hotel key pin tassel broke. =(

OH WELL, BECAUSE I HAVE A TWILIGHT ZONE BOOK! =D

"Enjoy your chocolate moose, which you will eventually find in your bag."

Posted in Disney!

Today was our last day at Epcot, and our last day at the parks. =( We finally got Calvin to ride Mission: Space, but we had to do the Green version first. Having now ridden both versions, I can officially say that the Green is dull as all get out. *shudder*

Winter, Calvin, and I had our first mango lassis at the India booth, between China and Mexico. And we found that they were good. Very, very good. =DDD

We didn't eat anything at the Mexico pavilion, but we did do the ride, because it was indoors and air conditioned. Yay!! =D That's where we found out something very sad--Winter lost her ring at the party last night. D= No rejoicing. None at all.

The Chinese pot stickers were GREAT, and we seriously considered buying a parasol for shade, it was that hot. xP The Taste of Spain at the Barcelona booth was also really good; I could've bought one for myself. We were being stingy, though, and only getting one of each thing and sharing it all. Ha...hooboyi'mtired.

But nothing--not Taste of Spain, not pierogies, not even Spaetzle Gratin--could compare with what I got at the Melbourne booth.

FEAST YOUR EYES. FEAST THEM.

That, my young Padawans, is a Grilled Lamb Chop With Red Wine Sauce And Murray River Sea Salt.

Holy.
Crap.

The best thing I ate ALL WEEK, people. ALL. WEEK.

[/foodieness]

We finally reached New Orleans ((yay!)), and I took a picture of chibi Gambit on the New Orleans sign. Only appropriate, right? Right.

The gumbo was really, really good. Spicy, but good. The ettoufee ((sp?)) was also really good ((crawfish, yum!)) and the bread pudding was...=DDD

We made our was past more delicious-smelling booths--including Japan, where Calvin got sushi ((xP))--and into Morocco, where we met back up with the parentals. It was agreed that, if we wanted to eat at Le Cellier tonight, we should...stop...eating...

But Winter, Calvin, and I went back to the Patisserie and got CREME BRULEE. I am forever in love with creme brulee. *happy sigh*

Back in Future World, we rode Mission: Space and Test Track until it was time for dinner. If--ha! If--you don't remember Le Cellier from me talking about it last year, it's a fantastic steakhouse in the Canada pavilion, and seriously, they're great. =D There was a line waiting for tables, so everyone got to play Canadian trivia. Did you know that Canada's national sport is lacrosse? NOW YOU DO! xD

Le Cellier, once again, served the BEST STEAK EVER. Our server, Sean, was great...he noticed it was my and Winter's birthday, and he mentioned it to us. We begged him, "NO CUPCAKES, please!" We've been cupcake-d out this week, and we couldn't. Eat. Any. More. Sean gave us a look and said, "Cupcakes? We don't have any cupcakes...I want a cupcake!"

The desserts were rllyrlly good, too. Chocolate moose is divine. <333 ((Don't tell the creme brulee.)) Only problem is, when you try to pull the tongue out of the moose's mouth, the moose sometimes comes with. I seriously lost the bottom half of my moose under the table, and we didn't find it until we were leaving. xDDD

We were leaving just as the Party for the Senses was opening up. Party for the Senses is a thing for those of us who are over 21 where big-time chefs will come in and cook stuff, and you get to try it and meet them. YUMMEH STUFF.

Not that I would know, but oh well.

We drive back tomorrow, which means back to the real world for us.

Aja ((whoisstillreallyreallytiredetceteraetceteragoodnight))

"Excuse me, can I wear your hat?"

Posted in Disney!

Holy. Cow.

Magic. Kingdom. Rules.

Well. Almost.

And. Talking. Like. William. Shatner. Is oh so very. Fun.

xDDDD

The Keys to the Kingdom tour was awesome. To start off, we had a GREAT tour guide named Scott, who was hysterical. Another group ((guided by a girl named Virginia)) was following ours, so he kept making fun of them and saying they were stalking us or something. Outside the Haunted Mansion, he told us how he used to creep people out when he worked there. When he was explaining how they do the ballroom ghosts, there was a little girl standing nearby. Scott's eyes got huge..."Oh my word...a child is listening. Shoo, go away!" ((She did.))

We saw where they kept the parade floats, and we even got to go underground to the Utilidors, where we saw how things ran behind the scenes. As we were leaving...the scenario went something like this:

Scott: *gasp* There's Virginia's group! Quick, everyone square your shoulders and try to look tough!

Us: *laugh and comply*

Scott: This is gonna be like West Side Story, watch. *snaps fingers as he walks*

Virginia: *shakes head*

Unfortunately, I can't say much more about the tour, seeing how it's all behind-the-scenes and stuff. *shrug*

After the tour, our entire group met back up near Casey's Corner and started walking the Kingdom. We went to the Laugh Floor ((and sat in front of the lights, xD)) we rode the people mover, we did pretty much everything short of Space Mountain, which was closed for renovation.

Our reservations at the Crystal Palace were at...ah, I forgot, but when we showed up, the line to check in was so long, we stood outside for a heckuva long time. xP

The food was good, though. COW. =D

When we were done with dinner, it was time to change into our party costumes. I was Rogue, Calvin was Scott Summers aka Cyclops, and Winter was Victor Creed. The parents, however, were sweaty tourists.

We. Had. FUN. Trick or treating, going to the laugh floor, and just walking around the Magic Kingdom after dark. The villains' meet-and-greet after their show was pretty cool, too. I got a picture of Winter and Calvin with Cruella DeVille.

We just got back to our cabin and out of costume, so I'm tired. Really tired. Goodnight, everybody.

"YETI LOVES YOU!"

Posted in Disney!

Today, we went to Animal Kingdom. At 8 AM. We had to get there early since we were having breakfast with Donald and his buds. Breakfast buffet = YUM. =D

But first, before we ate, we rode Expedition Everest. Chyeah. What a way to start your day, right? xD Calvin loved it, by the way.

After breakfast, we let our food settle by going on a Kilimanjaro Safari. Thrills, chills, and critters abound! We even saw a baby giraffe, who was ADORABLE! <3333333

It got hot pretty fast, so after riding Everest a couple more times, we rode DINOSAUR and Kali River Rapids, on which everything got soaked. Except out shoes. Our shoes were perfectly fine. xD We split up after Kali, so Winter, Calvin and I did the Majarajah Jungle Trek. Calvin LOVED seeing the tigers, even though they were...all...asleep. Hm.

We were mostly dry by then ((Florida's hot, donchaknow)) so we went back to Everest. Well, it would seem that the Yeti had torn up some of the track, so we couldn't ride it for a while. The odd thing was, it was raining. But only around Everest. Cross the bridge to Dino-Land, you're good. Go to Majarajah, you're good.

Florida weather is baffling.

Not being able to ride Everest, we stopped by Chester and Hester's DinoRama, where we spotted something incredible amongst the carnival games.

A plushie sabretooth tiger.

We played the game that had it for a prize, but I only won a neon orange turtle ((which I named Maxwell)) before we had to meet the over 21s at the Finding Nemo show. We vowed to come back, because, think about it--Winter's costume is Victor Creed/Sabretooth. How awesome would it be to have a photo of her curled up in the sun in costume hugging a sabretooth plushie?! =D

[/geekiness]

The Nemo show was pretty cute, although I'm still kind of skeptical about how it could be a musical. The girl who played Dory was really good, though.

Afterwards, we got EVERYONE to go back to DinoRama and play the carnival games. The first time, since there were so many of us playing, Winter won the sabretooth ((which she dubbed Little Vicky.)). *much rejoicing* We played again, and this time I won the sabretooth ((which, after much deliberation, I call Schrieber)) and gave Maxwell to Jared, who renamed him Crush. *wipes forehead*

We had a late lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue, and holy COW, their pulled pork sandwich is good. And so is their chocolate cake.

We weren't able to make it to the Lion King show, but we did go to Rafiki's Planet Watch, where we saw monkeys, goats, sheep, a llama, a cow, and an American kestrel named Crash. The petting zoo part was closing down, so we ducked inside the building where they house the veterinary stuff. And Jiminy Cricket. And Rafiki. And Pocahontas came by to visit, too.

Animal Kingdom closes at 5 or 6 every day, so after a quick stop at our respective cabins/hotels, everyone but Mom went back out to Downtown Disney. We traded for pins, looked at clothes, and I bought a Disney Pixar Greatest CD. It's got songs from every single Pixar movie ever made, including Up. =DDD [/geekiness] Just before we left, Calvin, Daddy, and I got some chocolate for Mom at the Ghirardelli store.

And that's where we stand. We're going to Magic Kingdom tomorrow, which means I have to get up rllyrlly early, so I'll be going now.

"99 flip-flops walk into a buuh..."

Posted in Disney!

Today was our second day at MGM, and you know what the first thing we did was?

Rock N' Roller Coaster. =DDDDD

Yes, folks, Calvin rode Rock N' Roller Coaster. I know, right?

After that, we pretty much split up. I went with Winter and Calvin to audition for the American Idol experience, but then they told me I had to have someone who was over 18 with me, since I'm only 16. So my mom came. Yay!

Lemme 'splain some about the American Idol thingummy. You go in a room with one judge instead of three and sing a cappella for thirty seconds. If they like you, yay, you're on to the next round, which is an audition with the producer. If they like you there you're one of the finalists ((I think)) and you sing later that day for a chance to keep going and possibly win a ticket to get to the front of the line for the real deal auditions for the 2010 season. Yayy!

I was so nervous before my audition, I almost puked. xP I sang Hey Jude ((big surprise, eh?)) and the judge guy, Rob, said that he was glad I could carry a tune (("As opposed to a bunch of the people who come in here")) but I needed more experience singing in front of a crowd. So I didn't make it...but I got a button that says "I auditioned for the American Idol Experience" and that's all that matters, right? Right.

All seven of us got to be extras in a short film they did for one girl who made it, and that was pretty fun. She didn't win that night; a guy named Adam Leidemer did. Watch for him next season, he'll be great. =D

We made our way over to the Muppet Show, where we realized something horrible--Calvin had left our backpack where we filmed the thingummy for American Idol. It had my phone and Jimmy the video camera in it, so Daddy went rushing back to look for it, but alas...it wasn't there.

Winter and I went to the Tower of Terror so I wouldn't bite someone's head off ((my request, not an order)) while everyone else headed up to Guest Services. Long story short, the backpack had been taken to Security, since it was an unattended bag and therefore potentially dangerous. After meeting a security guard named Michael ((from Celebration)) the backpack was successfully retrieved, and we all headed over to Lights Motors Action! Calvin will have a more complete version of the story on his blog. Hopefully.

Lights Motors Action! was good, and this year, since it wasn't raining, smoke actually came up off the tires! xD After that show, we split up again and met back at Hollywood and Vine at 3:30 for lunch/dinner. Buffets are good. Our waitress, Mary Anne, must've been telepathic, because she knew exactly what drinks we needed when we needed them...without looking.

After more rides on Tower of Terror ((my and Winter's grand total was 9)) and Rock N' Roller Coaster, we caught a street show, where the actors were trying to find the funniest citizen of Hollywood. They all had to tell jokes about random objects, and they went kind of like this: "99 cameras walk into a bar, and the bartender says 'Absolutely not! We do not serve cameras in here!' And the cameras say, 'Fine, we get the picture!'"

One time, the item was flip-flops, so one of the actresses went up to the mike and started, "99 flip-flops walk into a buuh..."

The hostess: "A what?"

"A buuh!"

"A what?!"

"A bararalluh!"

The MGM street performers are GREAT. Make sure you catch them if you ever go.

That night, we went to Fantasmic!, MGM's fireworks show. Im. Press. Ive. =D

That was our day...Animal Kingdom tomorrow!

"Here, you get that, you get that, I'll get this, we'll put it in the middle and share like New Orleans!"

Posted in Disney!

EPCOT.

FOOD.

YUM.

We started off the day in Future World, where we rode Test Track. You should've seen Calvin's face when we were at the barrier test...epic. Truly epic.

Everyone LOVED Soarin', and that's where we split up--the parentals to go eat in the World Showcase, and us to beat the heat in Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. That is a cute show. =D

And then we started eating. =DDDDD

We got the chicken spanakopita in Athens, Greece. Gotta love that tzatziki sauce. =)

We skipped Montreal, Canada, 'cause we're going to Le Cellier on Wednesday. So that's when we buzzed Cork, Ireland on the way to the U.K. Bailey's chocolate lava cake is oh-my-word good. So is the fisherman's pie! =D

We stopped to watch a street show for a little while--King Arthur and the Holy Grail--then we got pictures with Mary Poppins and Alice from Alice in Wonderland on our way to France.

Once successfully in France, we got a picture with Princess Aurora, and then went to the patisserie. Calvin and I got chocolate eclairs, and Winter got...a plain croissant. Seriously. That's all. =/ Calvin couldn't finish his eclair, though. Pssh. Slacker.

We ran into the parentals on our way through Morocco, where we got pictures with Aladdin and Jasmine. We skipped the Morocco booth, since nothing there really inspired us. xD We also passed NEW ORLEANS ((D=<)), where there was chicken and Andouille gumbo, crawfish ettouffe ((sp?)) and bread pudding. ((For the record, my mom LOVES bread pudding. So if you're ever wondering what to make her for her birthday...))

We plan to make a stop at the New Orleans booth on Wednesday and get one of everything and share it all. Saves snack credits! =D

We saw some random colonial dudes do a little mini-parade in the America pavilion, then we were off to Italy! Either we weren't inspired there or we were way stuffed, 'cause I love Italian food, but we didn't get any at the booth.

Yeah, that's it...we were too full to eat any more! xD

Eventually, we found ourselves back in Future World, about to go on Mission: Space. Calvin made us do the green--read: less intense--version first, but we eventually got him on orange--read: AWESOME. Funny thing was, we each got in the spot that our Trekkies would be in: Winter aka Spock was Commander, Calvin aka Chekov was Engineer, and I aka Captain Kirk the Awesome was Pilot, since there was no captain's chair. xD

We went to Le Chefs de France for dinner. Holy COW, it was GREAT! Winter, Calvin, and I were having a hard time deciding what to get ((salmon, seafood skewers, or gratin du macaroni)) so finally, I just went, "Here, you get that, you get that, I'll get this, we'll put it in the middle and share like New Orleans!"

Maxime, our waiter from Monaco, was really cool. He tried to teach me how to speak French, but...it didn't work so well. Still, he was pretty awesome. =D

Oh, and dessert.

Two words:

CREME BRULEE.

After dinner, we watched the nightly fireworks show, IllumiNations, and Calvin danced weirdly to the pre-show music.

Tomorrow...back to MGM, and maybe we can get Calvin to ride Rock 'N Roller Coaster!

"Are you two Cast Members?"

Posted in Disney!

Our first day at MGM was AWESOME!

But how could it not be when the first thing you do in your day is ride Tower of Terror? =DDDDD Good times, good times...

Okay, so the first thing we actually did was Toy Story Mania. But it's still a heckuvalotta fun. You put on 3D glasses and play midway games with all the Toy Story characters. I think I mentioned that last year, but oh well, here it is again. xD

Calvin LOVED Tower of Terror, so right after that, we got in line for Rock N' Roller Coaster. Everybody was all pumped up and excited and still on an adrenaline high from Tower, so we were all like "MAN, this is gonna be FUN!"

But then--just before we were about to board out super-stretch limo!--Calvin bailed.

RAWR.

So. We rode The Great Movie Ride, and then we used our Fastpasses for Toy Story Mania. And then we did the Backlot Tour, which was great after we'd been walking around all day long.

We split up sometime after that with orders to meet up at the 50's Primetime restaurant. Winter and I went back to the Tower, and everyone else went to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show Spectacular. During the opening spiel in the library of the hotel, the bellhop ((whose name was Giovanni)) would go up behind people and spook 'em by spieling along with Rod Serling. Well, he came over to us, but we were reciting the thing by memory as well. As everybody was leaving for the elevators, he kind of gave us a look and asked, "Are you two Cast Members?"

We just smiled and said, "No, not yet."

After we got off, we went through the gift store and bought the book they had been displaying everywhere, Rod Serling and the Twilight Zone. The author was there, so we got it autographed and found out that today, October 2nd, 2009, was the exact 50th anniversary of The Twilight Zone's premiere on TV. *much rejoicing*

We rode the Tower a second time, then we had to book it over the the Indy show because Winter got a text saying that my dad had gotten picked to be an extra in the show! He was quite impressive in his acting debut. Okay, semi-debut. But oh well.

The 50's restaurant was great. We got to meet our Cousin Laurie, and she was hysterical! She brought Winter and I birthday cupcakes, taught us the Milkshake Lesson (("Shake...and pour. Shake...and pour. And if you make a mess, *singsong voice* guess who gets to clean it up?")), and skillfully carried all our plates back to the kitchen without dropping a single one (("When you hear a big crash, yell 'Opa!')) She was all-around hilarious. xDDD

So, yeah, that was our day. Funnnn stuffffffff...now I'm tired.

ROAD TRIP!

Posted in Disney!

We left for Disney today, and obviously, we made it here safe. =DD

Winter's family came over around noon, and we left after a brief run to Best Buy to get more tapes for Jimmy, the video camera. Winter brought her iPhone, laptop and several choice movies, so we watched Toy Story on the way down. I hadn't watched that movie in years. Literally. So now, I remember one of my favorite scenes of all time...the one where Woody and Buzz have fallen out of the car and are fighting at the gas station, and then Buzz goes off on some tangent about Emperor Zurg. Woody's next line is EPIC:

"YOU! ARE! A! TOYYY! You're not the real Buzz Lightyear, you're--you're an action figure! You are a child's plaything!"

And Buzz has a great comeback, too.

"...You are a sad, strange little man. You have my pity."

I really wish I had a video, but I suppose it's good that I don't...otherwise I'd be watching it over and over and over and over and over and over and over...yeah.

Anywhoo...

The trip was mostly uneventful. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch and Wendy's for dinner, where I introduced Calvin to the wonder of a chocolate Frosty eaten with fries. YUM. ((Man, now I want one...))

Tomorrow we're going to MGM--'scuse me, Disney's Hollywood Studios, where we shall ride Rock N' Roller Coaster, the Tower of Terror, and watch all sorts of neat shows. YAY!
