Webcam in Africa!

http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/wildcamafrica/

This link above was passed onto me by a fellow homeschooler, and now we can't get enough of it!  The absolute best time to view is about 11:30PM (MST).  It's early dawn there and all the animals come to the pond for baths and drinks!  We see baboons, warthogs, elephant families, ostrich, gazelle, wildebeasts, alligators, birds and much more!

Of course, the kids are all sleeping at this time.  BUT...if you click on the little video, it gives you the option to make it into the big "theater version", it says.  Make it big.  Then at the bottom of the page, you can hit "record."  I usually record for about 20-30 minutes every night, label it with the animals I saw, and the date, and then the kids can watch it in the morning!

It's so addicting though.  I have it up all the time!

Have fun with it!

We followed this last summer, when they were doing a live cam on grizzlies in Alaska. Was absolutely stunning! Due to the time issues, we haven't watched Pete's Pond nearly as much. I hope they will one day bring the grizzly cam back...was absolutely stunning to watch.

There is also a live seal cam, at this link:

And the Kakadu Cam out of Australia:

Bald Eagle cam from Maine:

Polar Bear Cam (Canada...no longer live, but still good to watch!)

Sep. 25, 2007 - We're really enjoying this

Posted by OurLittleSchoolRoom
Had it up today, and saw elephants, elands, impala, a croc, a hyena, a Kingfisher of some kind, and Guinea fowl.

What I can't figure out is where the record button is. All I can find is the Real Player icon. I was up until midnight last night watching. I don't think I should do that every night, but I sure enjoyed watching dawn break.
Thanks again for the link,
Karen
