BOB books

Sorry, I'm just SO happy!!
I swear, I said it in another post, but homeschooling is JUST like potty training!! lol They will do stuff when they are good and ready to.
I had ordered sets 1-3 of the BOB books for Ben, to keep practicing reading. They are really easy for him, but I want him to learn the basics of reading very well, instead of just memorizing words.
I got sets 1 and 3 in the mail today. Ben whipped through the first book. Jack asked if he could read, so I said sure! He knows his letter sounds, why not? 6 months ago when I did this exact same thing, Jack tried and was just guessing at everything. He knew his sounds then too, but didn't have the patience to sit there and sound things out and put it all together.
He sat down and read books 1 and 2! He was glowing like an angel, I swear. I was so so proud, and he was so happy!!
I am just constantly amazed and surprised how 'letting go' of learning, really is helping them learn more! (in our family anyway)
BOB books are AWESOME and worth every single penny! Daddy asked me if they were really necessary, and I said with 5 kids? I promise it'll be worth it. Today, right when Daddy came home from work, Jack ran up to him and read all by himself. Seeing my husband proud was worth every penny too.

I bought sets 1, 2, and 3 off of Amazon, and bought only the cheapest used ones I could find. We don't care if they are a little dinged up! MUCH cheaper that way! |
