"Not Back To School" Party!

Posted in Homeschooling
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Today our homeschooling group held it's annual "Not Back To School" party!  It was so much fun, and so many people were there!  I think our group is one of the largest in the Denver area.  I heard there was over 120 people!!!  That is just great!!!!

Everyone brought their own picnic supper, and then cake was provided for everyone.  It was at the same park where we do our weekly 'park dates' on Wednesdays, so the kids were familiar with it and happy to go!

One neat thing we always do, is we tell the kids they have to make at least one new friend.  At the end of the day, they have to tell us their name, how old they are, and one thing they learned about them!  So far, that has been working awesome.  I love that the kids make friends easily, and are not shy about playing with kids of all ages!

Meg immediately ran off with an 8 year old girl, who had two sisters that were there, and Meg played with both of them too!  I think they were 5 and 11!  But Meg and this 8 year old (I know their names, but don't feel right saying their names on a public blog) were just two peas in a pod, and they all couldn't get enough of Meg.  lol  Not that I blame them.  Meg's new nickname lately is "TC" for Too Cute!

Jack joined a circle of kids that were digging in the sand, and made himself right at home.  Ben played on the slides and monkey bars and things like that.
We also brought some balls and frisbees to play with, and we played as a family too.  Kate loved joining in and running around in the grass!

We had such a great time!  All of the leaders (of the homeschooling support group) walked around and introduced themselves.  I had talked with them online quite a bit and have seen their pictures, but it was so nice to finally put a face to a name in person!  So I really appreciated that.  It was truly wonderful to see so many homeschooling families all gathered together!

I took some pictures....ENJOY!
