Girl's to Women

Always Teaching

On the way home from church tonight, my daughter's and I headed straight into a severe storm. The rain was so bad, we should have parked on the side of the road. I just wanted to get home, quick. The lightening was sharp, snapping and popping on the deserted highway, all around our van . When the lightening illuminated the sky, I nervously examined the clouds for circular movements. Fortunately, the sky was still.

My youngest daughter sat in front with me. She watched the lightening and thought it was cool. My oldest daughter sat in the back, with her face buried in her hands. She was as terrified as I was. My youngest daughter was trying to be brave. She said, "What if we had an invisible shield over our van, so we wouldn't get hurt, or hear the noise from the rain."  I thought, we do have an invisible shield.

I encouraged the girl's to pray for God to put His protective hands over us, and shield us from the dangers brought on by the storm. The storm became even worse. I entertained the idea of turning around, but I had to have faith that God would hear our plea's, and lead us to safety. He did. The storm began moving on, and we were given a more peaceful journey home.

My girl's learned to fear God's power; to put their trust in Him, and to rejoice.

I really enjoy reading your blog. I ran across it "on accident" tonight. You are truly an inspiration. Thank you for reminding me that I'm the best example of a mother my kids are ever going to get. lol I'd better get my act together. :0) I'm adding you to my FRIENDS list. I'll check back often.

Blessings from another homeschooling mama in West Texas, Karla
