Sep. 1, 2007 - getting a proper introduction into the world of homeschooling
hello. my name is traci and i tend to write without using caps. so just get used to it. that is just how it is. : ) i am a sucker for nutritional healing, good conversation, eating habits, and the art of "doing."
i have a wonderful husband who has insisted that homeschooling be part of our plans for the last 4 years. just recently have i stopped being so reluctant to the idea. i have been doing as much research as i have the time and it seems i am entering a whole world. a world that i think is going to take the next year to properly be admitted into.
we have a four year daughter and a two year old son. we are mainly interested in raising healthy, creative, motivated, and smart kids. we believe homeschooling is going to a great avenue for us to teach our kids the interesting concepts in this life and introduce them to motivating individuals who will continue to push our children and our family in a forward direction.
we believe that the present day school system is a bit limiting in what one is allowed to accomplish. we believe if you someone an opportunity to really discover their true course in this life, that they will accomplish much more than if you are devising the plan for them. we as parents are here to help guide our children onto a faithful & true path. we are confident that we can do this through homeschooling.
i would be interested to get to know a few of you who are passionate about learning and about life and the creativity that can be tapped into each and every day. i am interested in conversing with those of you who are confident yet humble and those of you who also have the ability to be a teacher as well as the student.
love to hear from you....

Welcome to HSB! This is going to be a great place for you to see the ins and outs of homeschoolers lives and curriculum choices. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask, we all like receiving comments and are willing to help when we can.

I enjoyed your comment to my "marketing" blog. It is so true that people think public (or any) school is a foregone conclusion. Why not think outside the box? We are going on five years in this journey, and still learn something new every day. And the longer we homeschool, the more I wonder why everyone who can, doesn't!
Find yourself a great homeschool support group and add "Smallworld" to your friends list. She has so many great ideas and tons of good curriculum advice. She's a great teacher, too.

Hi Traci!
This is a bit belated but a heartfelt WELCOME TO HOMESCHOOLING! And to HSB. :-)
I pray that you will find much encouragement here as you begin your journey. Feel free to drop by my blog any time and if you have any questions, please send me an e-mail!
While I'm not an expert at homeschooling, I do currently have a 3rd and 1st grader and a 3yo in tow. We have been homeschooling since my oldest was 4-- and loving (almost) every minute of it! The first year was the most difficult as I tried to get in the swing of things and transition from play, play, play to a little more constructive play and learning.
Anyhow, I think I've taken up enough comment space for now. :-)
Have a wonderful week, my new friend!

Welcome to the world of homeschooling and to HSB. Your reasons for homeschooling are so true-- your kids are lucky that you have made this decision when they are still so young!
Enjoy your blog! This is great place to meet other like minded people!
