Nov. 5, 2006 - Stick Horses
This was probably the best activity for studying horses. We made these stick horses and our kids have used them over and over and over again. They just love them! Plus you can use them in so many ways to learn about horses and in a way that is fun and memorable for the kids (and the parents)
. We have used them to learn the different gaits or paces of the horse while demonstrating using them. We have rode them to learn different racing events. We have attached them to the kid's bikes to learn different racing events, games, mounting/dismounting, and more. Plus they have been used endlessly for pretend play. But they did require a little bit of work to put together and since they have been used so much they have had to be taped up a few times.![]()
You can see Leah(the littlest) is wondering where hers
is. Sorry hunny, but you are going to have to take turns
with the older ones.
Mommy, I can't wait any longer!! (Leah)
Jake's horse - I drew but he colored some of it.
He's not a big fan of coloring.
Finally, it's MY turn!! (Leah)
Children truly are a gift from the Lord!

What a great idea!! y kids had a stck horse - complete with fabric head - from their Grandma.... until it moved to a new home because it became a "bucking" horse. Ack!!!! Boys and toys........
Great job with the horses!! (And I just love little Leah TRYING to be patient.)
Welcome to homeschool blogger, by the way. It's been fun meeting you this afternoon.

Hi-thanks for the comment you left at my blog. Neat-another Konos user! I love your stick horses-they are so cute.
LOL about the lawsuit roleplay. I didn't mention in my post how we discussed how the Bible tells us if we have a problem with others to go to them and work hard to resolve it and then we read about a bunch of ridiculous lawsuits that actually won-when common sense should have prevailed. Yes, this country is totally sue-happy and it is so sad! This week we are going to a real court session as a wrap-up of our Crime & Punishment Unit and today we're starting the American Revolution.
Your children are adorable! Yes, I agree-children are such a wonderful breath-taking blessing!! Holly

I adore your stick horses!! Your kiddos look so happy! We plan to do Horses in the springtime. We are currently in Attentiveness, doing Indians this whole month. In December, we'll do Trust/Sheep before taking a holiday hiatus. I am so glad we found each other, Shelly!
I love Konos!
