So busy!

I have been so busy I haven't had time to think.  I will sit down and pound it all out on the keyboard, when I have two hands to type with.  I don't get much free time until after 8pm when the wee one is in bed, then it's laundry, dishes, feeding the animals, etc and then I find myself sitting here at 1:30am, like tonight.

I will get back to blogging.  I miss it.  I miss the blogger school.  I miss reading what is going on in your lives.

I will be back.  !

Busy? Me?

Oh my word, I have been soooo busy!  I don't know which end is up!  I just have not had time to even breathe, much less blog!

I've missed it though and my plan for the new year is to carve out some time in my busy day to unload my thoughts.  Maybe if I unload here, I will sleep better at night.  I can only hope!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Book Reports

I have been so busy that I haven't had time to do my own blogger friend school assignments...but in helping my children do theirs, I came across this site and wanted to share with you.  You may all know about it anyway!

I found bookrags.com and found that if you link to their site, you will get free access to the study guides of your choice, one free guide per month...(this is how I understand it)

So, here goes!

Because of Winn-Dixie Summary on BookRags

I have much to do while the baby sleeps, so hopefully I'll be back later to write more.

My Dream House

Part 2 of the first Blogger Friend School assignment....

what is my dream house?

Well, My 'dream house' is a big old farm house in the middle of a country field in Lancaster county, PA.  Lancaster because it's about half an hour to my husband's office, big old farm house because I want something big enough for all of the children I want....

Blogger Friend School

Hi Everyone!  I signed up for the Blogger Friend School (I think I got that right!) so I need to do my 2 lessons to catch up.

First of all, I can not figure out the HTML to get the web ring to show on my blog with this template.  I love the template, so can someone help me do that?  Please?

Here's my intro, which I sort of already did, but will do it for this purpose as well.

I am Crazy Mom.  How did I get that nick name?  Some say it's not a nice name either.    Well, I will tell you.    Every time we are out in public, someone will tell me, "I don't know how you do it.  You are either a Saint or well, Crazy."  Hehehe.  Sainthood doesn't describe me, YET, but crazy does, so it stuck.  Plus, busymom is a nickname that is often used, so I wanted something a little different.  My 9 yr old son was looking at my blog the other day and snickered.  I asked him what was so funny.  He said, your screenname, it fits.    That's my boy!

I'm 35, married for 17 years to the most patient and caring man in the world (hey, he's put up with me for 17 years and is looking ahead to eternity, he is the Saint in my book!   Like I mentioned previously, we have 4 children, 2 via adoption, 2 greyhounds, we are fostering another greyhound (but she should be going to her forever home this week), and one really crazy cat.  We live in central PA.  I work from home for a high risk pregnancy support network and my husband works for a Union that represents Corrections Officers.  It's a really interesting job and his coworkers are great.  He, at 47, hasn't 'grown up' yet, so he's still trying to figure out what he wants to be when he does.

We homeschool our oldest, who is 14 and in the 9th grade.  We consider ourselves to be unschoolers in that we make up our own curriculum and don't follow a structured schedule.  Right now Jenna's passion is the Titanic, so we devote days to the study of this incredible ship and it's fatal voyage.  She has read fiction, non fiction and has gone to the Titanic Exhibit at our local museum, among other things.  I have an entire unit lesson on the Titanic that covers math, science, psychology, health, etc.  It's very fascinating.

Jessica, 13, is in full day special education classes.  She has several learning disabiltiies and requires the instruction and care that her class provides.  She is currently in 6th grade.  Some day I may decide to homeschool her, but for now, this works well for her.

Jonathan, 9, is in 4th grade, main stream classes, public school.  He wants to be homeschooled, but he also wants to play rugby and the cello.  In order to do both, through the school system, he needs to be a student.  For now, he is.  This may change as early as next year.  I tutor him at home for his LA classes, as he is advanced in everything but LA, so we are working to boost that grade.

Hope turned 4 months old on Friday.  She is a micro-preemie, born in June and weighed 2 lbs 10 oz.  She is the light of our lives and has overcome so many obstacles.  She is our miracle.  She will likely never attend public school and always be a homeschooled student.

We have one child in heavn waiting for us to come Home.  His name is Ryan and he is Jenna's twin.  He was stillborn at 35 weeks due to oligohydraminos and IUGR.  He had a stroke in utero and died.  My life has not been the same since losing him at the tender age of 21.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rememberance Day.  Let's remember all of our babies, who were taken too soon to live with Jesus.  May we find comfort knowing they are in Heaven and waiting for us.

New Day New Blog

I just found Homeschoolblogger and was so excited!  It's time for me to set up shop somewhere other than xanga.  I did find xeeks.com, but it isn't nearly as active as I would like.  I mean, I blog to let off steam, to put my thoughts on 'paper' and to get to know new people....so if nobody is reading, I'm not meeting new people.

That said, this is a new day, new blog.  I'm a crazy mom of 4 kids and wife of only one (Thank goodness!) husband.  We live in PA and have 4 kids ranging in age from 4 months to 14 years and we have 2 greyhounds, 1 foster greyhound, and one psycho cat.  Truly, she is.

I work from home in my spare time!

I only homeschool (we unschool) Jenna.  The other two school aged kids go to school.  Yup, it's true.  Why?  Because of a variety of reasons.  Basically, we don't pigeon hole our children.  What works for one may not work for the other.  Homeschooling works for one of them, not all 3.  At least for now.  When the baby gets older, she won't go to school......  but the other two may actually graduate from a public school.  I know that the oldest will never go back.  Personal preference, I guess.

So that's me.  ;-)

Now it's time to get dinner done.
