Tuesday Review

Today I want to suggest a wonderful book to everyone - It's a Long Road to a Tomato: Tales of an Organic Farmer Who Quit the Big City for the (Not So) Simple Life by Keith Stewart.

As an organics consumer, I had a feeling I would thoroughly enjoy this book and my suspicisions were correct!  I'm quite jealous that we don't have any farms around here that even come close in comparison to Mr. Stewart's nor do we have anything like the Green Market in New York in which his farm is a vendor.

I will never (okay, not as often) romanticize the thought of having my own farm like this.  It's hard work!!!  I, like everyone else, complain about the high cost of organic foods but this book gives an eye-opening glimpse into what a laborious task it is getting that wonderful food into the consumer's hands.  I had lost my appreciation for organic farmers and this book helped bring that back again.  It also inspired me in my own humble gardening efforts.

You know, I have never added this blog to my friends list, I will have to do that. This book sounds great, I know a friend who would love to know about this book, I'm going to send her over to see your review. I would love to buy more organics as well, the prices sometimes scares me.

That sounds like an excellent book. I know I complain about the price of organic vegetables, but from experience I know it is hard work to grow them.
