At Home In Idaho

Ouch

I believe the proper term is "kickback"...

At any rate, this is what happens to the inside of your calf when your kickstarter remains obdurate and you don't realize it.

But I did get to ride my bike.  W00t!

(and the catalogue of sports injuries begins...)

Silver dollar size, for those who want to know.

Apr. 27, 2009 - bruises

Apply immediate and intense pressure for about a minute, then massage. The immediate pressure prevents alot of the broken vessel blood flow - particularly into the surrounding -ahem- fatty tissue. Periodically massage until it turns red with a white or lighter color center.

When it turns purple and yellow it's too late. However, it will 'reduce' quicker if you massage it. Otherwise you will wait weeks for your body to metabolize the 'blob' from the outside in.

If it is a really mondo hematoma, you are screwed and may have to have it drained.

Staying focused (i.e. no B.S. multi-tasking allowed) reduces the probability of bobos.
