Treasuring the Moments
Nov. 28, 2007 - Thanksgiving 2007
Posted in Family

Where do I start?  The last week-and-a-half has been so full.  I'll just try and hit the highlights of the last week.

My sister and her family arrived from Pennsylvania Sunday night.  My parents and oldest sister, along with her family, arrived on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wednesday, these three (Seth 17, Serenity 9, & Wesley 12)  went and served Thanksgiving dinner to the elderly.

This was part of their community service for 4-H but they always enjoy doing this.  The elderly are so sweet and happy to talk with the kids.  Seth(ds17) was asked to pray over the meal.  I thought that was wonderful that his light for Jesus shone so brightly that they felt free to ask him.   After he prayed, a fireman who is also a preacher, started talking to him.  After a few minutes of talking with him he told him that if he'd had a son, he would have liked him to be like Seth.

Thanksgiving Day

What a busy day of activity, fellowshipping, eating and singing it was.

All of the younger girl cousins came as Indians squaws along with two braves. (One brave is gone here - must have been out hunting for the upcoming feast.)

After our traditional bounteous dinner we had dessert.  Oh, yummy!

Chocolate fountains are always a hit.

Then came our sing song with a few other things added.

This little guy (age 5) recited a poem about the pilgrims from memory and an excellent job he did!

Highlights from George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation given by my nephew.

A hymn played by my niece.

Highlights from Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation given by ds17.

Singing songs of thanks and praise to our Saviour accompanied by our mini orchestra.

And finally, two weary Indians having a late evening snack before heading to bed.

Hmm. I know they say that the camera adds... how many pounds? but... did it have to pick and choose WHO to give the pounds to? :)

Thank you so much for the wonderful evening! It was a real blessing.
