Last week my dh took me to the Grand Canyon for two days. When we have these little get-a-ways I always bring along some book that we can read together. This time, along with my overflowing book bag, I took the video series Financial Freedom by Jim Sammons which I purchased from Vision Forum.

They are very good! Mr. Sammons does not give you a formula on how to get rich as so many financial books do, but instead talks about God's principals and how we should view the money we have as God's money and to give it all back to Him and not hold on to it in our hearts. He tells his story of how at 29, he was completely broke (after pride entered his heart), the bank was wanting their money back that he had borrowed, he started having sleepless nights and then finally broke out in hives.
My husband, who feels like he (and he does) understands the financial world very well was stirred by what we've heard so far. There are 20 hours total of video and we've heard about half. My husband even played two of the videos for our boys, ages 17, 15 and 12. (They enjoyed them, too, in case you're wondering.)
I highly recommend this series.

If you make a trip to the Grand Canyon be sure to see Kolb Studio. Ellsworth and Emery Kolb, two brothers, were the first to record by motion picture, their boat trip down the Colorado River. They were two highly adventurous men that I found really interesting and out of all the times I've been to the Canyon, I had never heard of them.
Emery lived at the Canyon (right on the edge), till his death in 1976 at age 95.

This is the path you can take to get to the bottom of the Canyon. My hubby wants to do this and he's not just talking! He's called to see if there's any cancellations at Phantom Ranch (owned by the Government) at the bottom of the Canyon. They sometimes have cancellations but if they don't you're put on a list for a year down the road. (no pun intended, truly )
When we got married part of our honeymoon was going to be to walk to the bottom and helicopter out. We never did get to that part of our honeymoon and now 17 years later he wants me to walk down AND walk back up. I guess it's time to face the facts: the honeymoon's over. |
My parents finally made it out there this past Oct. and just loved it.
