Sep. 16, 2008 - Autumn

Today I can actually believe that autumn is coming.  It is a cool 77 and the clouds are nice and gray.  I just hope we get some rain this time.  Today it sprinkle for about a minute.  But I think there is still hope.

All summer we were surrounded by thunderstorms.  We would get very excited when the clouds came, but no rain. :-(   My dd the weather girl would get so frustrated.  She would watch the news and look at the weather on the computer and announce mom," I think there will be rain today."  But when it never came she would say, "I can not believe that the weather man lies."   lol  Of course I had to explain to her that no one really can predict the weather.  That only God was in control of it.

Today was not a bad on the school front.  It just seemed to drag on.  For some odd reason.  It is so hard sometimes to get my dd to get school done in a reasonable amount of time.  She could be sooooo slow.  But she did her work well and clean.  So I am not sure that I should be complaining.  lol

Till another day!

Sep. 10, 2008 - Short School Days

Wednesdays are short school days for us.  We get about 3 subjects done and enjoy our day with daddy.  This is a new thing I have been trying out for about 2 weeks and so far this has been great and we have not  been behind in school.  Which is something that drives me crazy.  LOL

We are going to wash the dogs, clean the floors, and just relax, until Horseback riding lessons at 6pm.  Madison likes to help her daddy wash the dogs.  I have to admit that I am glad she does.  That way I am free to do things that I like to do.  :-)  Like the floors.  Yuck!  But they have to be done, don't they!!!   The most fun we have on Wednesday is going to the ranch and riding.  Dave and I like ot watch Madison learning to ride and jump.  It is really exciting.  Last week Madison's horse got spooked and she slid off.  She didn't get hurt badly, just a little bruise on her bum.  Not too bad for the first time falling off your horse.  lol

Sep. 9, 2008 - The New School Year

I have been looking forward to the school year.  The summer seemed to have crept by.  We needed more structure than the carefree days of summer had to offer.
I am pleased to say that the school year has started off great.  We are using Rod and Staff.  I know, I know Rod and Staff has a ton of work, it is boring, and there is not much creative touch to it.  But I have made it my own and it is fun and we do have our crafty days. (supplements)  I would have used something else, but my Madison likes it.  She wants the worksheets and textbooks.  And she excels at all her  work.  Praise God.
Co-ops start in two weeks.  We are excited about that.  Madison loves co-ops.  She learns so much there.  We have such a great group of women there.  What I like about this school is that the whole family is involved, not just the moms.  Dads have taught shop, wood working, paint ball, and such.   We are blessed to have this option for us.

Jun. 3, 2008 - Long Time!

It has been a long time since I did an entry.  We have had a very good school year.  We enjoyed it.  We joined a new ISP.  It has been a wonderful move.  DD learned so much from those dedicated mothers.  I also met some really creative ladies and dare I say friends.

I have just finished up our last report card of the year.  I am going to be mailing it soon.  I have been real please at the effort that DD has put into her work.  She brought up some grades and just did a great job.

I have already bought our curriculum for the next year.  It is the same that we used this year.  It worked real well for us.  I have looked for something that fit us.  Of course I had to tweek it a little. ;-)  Next year, I hope< will run smoother.  But I know that life happens and that it will not be smooth all the time.  I just mean school wise.

Well not much going on here.  Just staying busy with mom this week.  She flew in last Tue. and is leaving on Sat.  I am not looking foward to that day.  I wlll miss her.

Dec. 14, 2007 -

These past few weeks of school have been more pleasant.  I am really enjoying it.  And so has dd.  Today was just great.  She did her math, English (test) and reading without  grumbling.  She also did a good clean job on her papers.  It went real smoothly.  I hope this nice patch stays for awhile.  I know that we will have rough patches.  But I think everything that she has been learning just finally sunk in.  And she understands.  We had a great talk about the things she was learning in English this morning.  She explained things really well.  What a relief it is when you know that they are learning what you are teaching them.

We have been busy getting ready for the gift giving this year.  It is so hard buying gifts for people you barely know.  This would be for hubby's side of the family.  My side just gives to the kids.   But his side thinks that the adults should have gifts at 50 bucks a pop.  Yes the put a price tag on it.  But I am struggling with doing this with a cheerful heart.  This year is better than the past years.  I am coming around to doing this to the glory of God.  I want them to see Christ through us.  So  I really do want to do this with a sincere smile instead of my forced  I cannot believe I am here one.  :-)  I need a better attitude.

Here is a  Christmas Meme  If you like them.  It was fun doing it.  Have a great day!

Dec. 1, 2007 - School....

has been going great!  There are days that still are difficult.  But my dd grades have come up she now only has 1...yes 1 B grade on her report. (the rest are better)  I am shocked!  She has sure worked hard on raising up her grades.  Her goal is to have straight A's by the semester.  Now I have never put emphasis on her having straight A's.  I always told her she needed to do her best, since her work is to glorify God.  Well she got into her little head that straight A's are the way to do it.  And there you have it.  I am so blessed to have this little one.  She sure teaches me a lot.  Now when I grumble about things, she reminds me to do it to the glory of God.  Those are the things that I like thrown back in my face.  LOL

Well I hope you all have a great weekend!

1 Corinthians 10:31

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
