The new blog
As a last-minute decision, I have decided against redirecting readers to the new blog from this one. (This is so you guys can still read all my old posts on this blog.) Here is the link to the new blog:Posted in Announcements, Etc. at 3:59 PM on Mar. 15, 2009 - comments {3} - post comment
New horizons
Hello, my dear readers. That is to say, if I have any readers left. My blog seems to be in a perpetual state of desertion these days. Of course, this is through no fault but my own...For the past few days, I've been working on a project. Some of you may recall that it was a wish of mine to someday host my blog on my own domain (runaway-muse.net). Well, I finally got around to downloading WordPress (a blogging platform) to my server, and, to my utter shock and relief, it was not nearly as hard to install as it looked. Figuring out the little things like coding templates took a little longer, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of things.
The point is, I'm moving my blog to my domain.
What does this mean? For one thing, my blog won't be hosted on Homeschoolblogger anymore. You'll have to type a new address to get there. Also, it means I'll have a lot more control over my own blog. To tell you the truth, I've been slightly annoyed with HSB lately, but we won't go into that.
The new blog is almost set up, but not quite ready. When it is, I'll redirect viewers there from this blog, so most of you probably won't even have to type in the new address. Pretty sweet, huh? (I credit Beth with the redirection idea. She also switched to WordPress for her blog recently, so I'm not alone!)
With that said, I'm afraid it has grown rather late, and dinner has yet to be made. Keep checking back here for the new and (hopefully) improved blog!

Experimentations
What do you all think of the new template? It's simple, I know...by the time I finished coding it, I was too lazy to make a header image. But I don't think it looks half bad the way it is.As you can see, I've gotten rid of the AIM widget as well as the Last.fm radio, the latter of which I intend on replacing with something less prone to errors. Also, I've taken the plunge and installed a Cbox! Try not to fill it up too quickly. ;)
Well, that's about it for updates. On a less exciting note, I got my retainer today, which is a dental device that's been fitted to the roof of my mouth and stays in place with wires that hook over my front teeth. It's not as visible as my braces were, but it feels oh-so-strange. Also, I have to wear it all the time, which is a bummer. Will my mouth ever be completely free of metal? *exasperated sigh*

*clears throat*
I am pleased to announce that I have resurrected my long-neglected story blog. It would gladden and encourage me if you guys could check it out and let me know what your thoughts are. There's barely anything posted on there at the moment, so it should't take long at all to read.Important: The story blog is set so only people on my friends list can view it. This is for copyright protection, as you've probably already guessed. I've added pretty much everyone on my friends list, but if I've accidentally forgotten you, then just message me on my story blog account (elvenwriter) and I'll add you. :)
Also, if you haven't read the post below, then do so. It explains what's going to be happening with me during the next several weeks.

Hiatus
For the last few nights I've sat down with the intention of writing this post, but ended up being lured away by various distractions. Isn't that bothersome? Nonetheless, here I am, and here I shall force myself to stay until I have a proper entry written out in front of me.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of comments my last entry accumulated. Who knew one tag could be so popular? (Then again, it is the infamous Girly Tag of DOOM, and the fact that I even did it in the first place must have intrigued some certain individuals. I won't mention any names. *grins*)
I'm afraid I have some rather bad news. This will probably be the last entry I will write for a month, as I am journeying to Pennsylvania to serve on the volunteer staff at an OCF (Officers' Christian Fellowship) family retreat center that my family has attended for years. I'm quite excited, as anyone close to me would be able to tell you, but the lamentable fact is that this retreat center does not allow volunteers to bring computers, nor do they have any internet access that I know of. *weeps* Given, I'll probably be having such a wonderful time working my tailbone off that I won't have time to think of blogging, but that is the sad truth of it and I wanted to let you guys know, lest you come to the conclusion that I've dropped off the face of the earth during the following weeks.
I shall be communicating with Katie via snail-mail during my stay in Pennsylvania, and I'm sure she'll be kind enough to let you guys know what's going on with me. (That is, if I have anything of note to relate -- not unlikely, considering all the fantastic things I'll be doing.) I shall also be keeping (or attempting to keep) a journal, so by the time I get home I'll be able to at least give you guys a stunted account of my adventures. I realize that I will have quite a lot of catching up to do when I return... *sigh*
My flight leaves on Thursday, which means I have two days to pack and make preparations, particularly for my four 'boys'. (I'll give you a hint: they're small animals that have a bad reputation in the wild, but are nevertheless the most awesome pets you'll ever come across. Have you guessed what they are yet?)
I'm terrified because it'll be my first time on an airplane by myself, not to mention I'll be picked up at the airport by a family I've never met in my life. Also, I have to get up at 3:00 in the morning for the hour-long drive to the airport. Oh, woe is me!
There, I've given you all an explanation regarding my future absence, as well as a reason to pity and envy me, respectively. Time well spent, wouldn't you say?
